There are but, lower carb diets are just a way to create a caloric deficit which is the ONLY thing you need to lose weight. This isn't a knock on low carb before I get accused of doing so. Just pointing that lower carbs just equate to lower calories for most.

My only suggestion would be to not do low carb. You only need a slight caloric deficit to lose weight. If you cut out most of your carbs, guess what? Don't rely much on measuring spoons. Go with a good digital food scale. Best $20 I ever spent when it comes to nutrition.

You have the right to be upset about anything you want. Question his reasoning for being so mad at his "mom" that he can't come see you. I'm not saying he is lying, well I am saying he is lying. What is your definition of "eating well"? I ask because it doesn't matter what types of food you eat for losing weight. If you are in a caloric surplus or maintenance you won't lose weight. You should let the majority of your food be nutrient dense for your overall health, but you still need a deficit to lose weight. TRY…

I've ran P.H.U.L. by Brandon Campbell. It works for sure. It took some getting used to for me doing heavy deadlifts after heavy squats. I was cutting at the time I started and it took a toll on me. I like the way you put this. I've tried explaining this to people when they ask my questions. How did you lose weight and get fit? Is usually followed by some complicated over thinking comments like, "I bet you cut out all the foods you like and only ate this or that or clean nasty food." Nope not at all.

Just eat mostly whole foods and throw in some processed stuff that you enjoy and you will be fine. Say 85/15 whole vs favorites.

Eat enough red meat. Get the lean variety so it isn't too fatty. Also, if you have a cast iron skillet. Cooking with that will add iron to your day. You won't be able to track that part but it does add iron to the diet.

Carl redeemed himself this past season for me. I took him off my "Can't wait to see him die" list. He almost ruined that in one episode though when he acted like he didn't need his dad anymore. That changed quickly.
