Good ole Mae… Need to remember that one!

I was once foolish enough to try it… Answer: No, it absolutely does not help. I wasted my money.

Absolutely NOT

If your goal is 1580 calories, it's way too low! Eat more.

A lot of these suggestions are well intended but pointless… Toys? Sending the kids away? It won't work. Compare sex with food and someone who's just not hungry. You don't want eating to become a chore. No matter in what shape you cut the potato, it's still not appetizing. A binge-weekend? Forget it. At times I just don't…

5'65, ideal weight = 137 lbs w 10% BF. That means I still have to cultivate some 4 lbs of pure muscle.

^ This. I finished Insanity a while ago and struggled with the same question, so I tried some P90X and Les Mills Pump… only leading me to unwanted further weight loss. Since then I've begun basic strength training and eating more, which seems to have the desired outcome!

Losing it too quickly is not a good idea... apart from health issues, it might start to control your life. You lose weight to improve your life style, you don't live to lose weight. Besides, quick losers are often quick (re)gainers with a bunch of loose skin.

I think it's a good goal... and once you see results coming off, you'll start to get hooked!

Inspiring. I started to take creatine after I had reached my initial goal, which was 60 kilos (in retrospective too light)… and went up to almost 66 kilos again when I stopped the creatine… that's when again I lost 7.5 kilos in 2 weeks - worrisome! I'm now back to 60 kilos which is 2 or 3 too light for my height, so I'm…

Glad to see so many having the same issue… I'm only 1.69 m tall and even at 3000 calories it's hard to gain any weight! I'm doing a 3 day/week full body workout after I came down 10 kilos with dieting and Insanity. Seems now I have reached a REVERSED plateau lol

Check out http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/muscle-building.html - a lot of questions will be answered there, and you will probably find the right workout program for you… To me, it was an eye opener.

Excellent tips and helpful links here, I especially liked http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dumbbell-barbell-home-workout.html

It's often not the routine that brings you closer to your goal but the change. Change your diet, your program, your approach if you get bored. You will see soon enough what works and what does not.

Agreed

Great post. I'm also trying to convert a swimmer's body into a sprinter's one…. Thought a hybrid of P90X, Insanity and Les Mills Pump would get me there, but it only tones, does not add. I'll see into some heavier weights...
