mspris2u.. If you have questions, this seems to be a great place to ask. I've been making my own for months and just learned alot today from others :)

Thank you, you have great ideas. I will be trying the thermos...love that idea

2hobbit1:smile: Thank you so much for your info. That really helps me I was wondering though about the cheesecloth. I tried the cheesecloth and it seem to let too much yogurt through it. I use flour sack towel and it works great, but wondered what I was doing wrong with the cheesecloth? Also, I do love draining it to a…

glad you told me about your trials, I was thinking pineapple would be good too, but will pass on it now :)

I forgot to say that you can use any type .of milk ..skim, 1%, 2%, etc. From one gallon of milk it will make approx 5-6 cups of greek yogurt (after it's strained) and the rest is a yellowish colored liquid that drains off of it that is call whey. It's alot cheaper than buying it
-
that's ok. It's actually real easy and cheap. Buy a gallon of milk, heat it up to 180*, then let it cool to around 110-120*, then add 2 tblsp of yogurt that has "live active cultures" then sit it in a warm area to keep it around 110*. I put it in my oven with the oven off and the light on and it does good. Then let it sit…

If you are on birth control, it is normal to not have a period. If you are over 45 or so, it is peri-menapause and is normal. I am 47 and have not had one in a few years. ALthough my gyno says that your body needs to have a period every 3 months to keep the uterus lining healthy and gives me hormones occasionally to force…

Makes me wonder if maybe your glucose level is low. I am diabetic and if my blood sugar gets low I get the shakes. When you workout it makes your glucose level drop. Did you eat before workout, or can you have a few bites of a banana or something to see if that helps?
-
You might want to make sure and eat nuts, and the good fats and that will help you hit your calorie goal and they are really good for you in moderation.

lol, I think too much too. I am 5'2" and stated above about the 1-2 lbs a week. I was unsure at first too about the rate I should lose. I decided that I wouldn't think of it that way, that I would just ask myself every night before I went to bed " did I go the most I could today to lose weight" and as long as the answer…
-
I am 5'2" and lost 40 lbs. 1-2 lbs a week the whole way. There were a few weeks that I wouldn"t lose any and I think that is ok because I looked at it as my body just had to adjust to it's new weight.
-
Yes, I'm 5'2" also. I lose weight at a slow rate too. I think that it's because with people that are taller or heavier seem to lose weight faster is because they have more to lose. What I mean is if you weigh 140 and you lose 2% of your body weight that is only 2.8 lbs Someone that is 300 and loses 2% body weight, that is…

Can you workout at work. I mean if you sit at a desk, then do legs lifts are some type of exercise that is possible. If you stand at work, do small standing exercise, I think as long as you keep moving in some way you can get a little exercise here and there.

I didn't log on for several day when my dad passed away 2 weeks ago and some people deleted me. So just because someone doesn't log on for a few days doesn't mean that they are not committed, just sometimes other things take priority.
-
I deleted someone because they were very needy. They wanted everyone to comment on her every post about eating, and her work and then her exercise. Sorry I don't have time for that. I like my small group of pals and do enjoy commenting and supporting them, just not 20 times a day.
-
I just want you to know that your support is so great. It feels really good being able to talk(or type) out my feelings and I plan to continue doing so. I hope you don't get sick of me.

I know I have to move. I'm afraid that if I crawl up in bed, I will just want to stay there
-
Danilynn, I loved that story about your dad. I know that I have many, many stories of my dad. I will always remember the good things. I know that one of my favorite times was when he was in the hospital bed and dying, I crawled up in the bed with him and put my face next to his chest and with what very little energy he…

wow, what a wonderful group of people MFP are. I love that I got on here and was feeling down and saw all your responses. It put a smile on my sad face. Thank you for all your support. For those that have lost someone close to them too, I am sorry for your loss. I will continue to re-read all your wonderful replies and…

What scares me, is all the abbreviations that kids use to text today. They will not know how to spell anything.

You look great ! Good job !

Yes, I'm here in the Midwest and I did have a wedding gift opening gathering the day after the wedding. It is a tradition, sort of, and it's so everyone doesn't have to watch at the wedding reception. I did have lakeside cabins for everyone to stay the weekend in and we just used the pavillion at the resort to have the…

I think it would depend on the size you are to start and how tall you are. I know that at 8--10lbs. I have to change sizes, I'm only 5'2"

Thank you for all the support. I appreciate the kind words :)

I am diabetic. I eat two servings of fruit a day and I eat greek yogurt. I know that I go over the 25 grams that is the limit on here. I do not have trouble with my diabetes if I eat fruit and yogurt , but I do have problems if I eat processed foods high in sugar.

I agree with the therapist. I have gone to a few. One I didn't like, the other I really like. It is scary to go the first time, just because it's new. But they don't bite and they let you set the pace at which you want to talk and reveal things. It's not an interogation. you'll be fine.

I believe that your body will go into starvation mode. But if it continues for a long time then it's ability to hang on to the fat that it is trying to store (starvation mode) will be unable to continue. Starvation mode is temporary.
