I completely agree with this. Exercising should be for so many more reasons... health, fitness, personal goals, feeling good, sleeping better, something fun to do, etc. You should always fuel your body for the activity level you maintain, not punish it for eating.

YES!!! That was totally me. So glad I went to the dark side. MOAR CALORIES.

Haha, that's awesome. Won't be appropriate for long! Good luck in your efforts! :)

Agreed....

Oh my gosh, my husband calls this site "my fatness pal". He's trying to gain weight, he says he needs a site like that for him! LOL Anyway, nice to meet you :)

Jillian Michaels is great if you want to be able to do two hundred gajillion squats (or any other exercise) without dying (and maybe just be a skinnier version of your current body composition at some point) but not so good if you want to actually reshape your body. :) The suggestions above would be a better option for…

Bwahahaha. Bump to show my hubby later, he's a metalhead.

I think Jillian dvds are OK.... but I think they're more about endurance than strength, even with the weights. Why? Because she's using light weights and MANY reps. Yes, you can do it for longer, but you can't lift more next time. If you really want a dvd for getting into lifting for building strength, check out Cathe…

When I was on a very low calorie diet, 1200 or less, I felt full and content and energized. That doesn't mean it was good for me. Seriously. You should definitely be eating more than 1200. How much more? That depends on you—your height, weight, age, and activity level. If you don't know how much you were consuming when you…

..... except they don't do OK. They can suffer from all sorts of negative side-effects. But it sounds like the OP is not purposefully restricting carbs, so I don't think that's an issue. 50% is a good amount.

I really HATE when people say that it is "just how it is" if you are married, and that getting married kills your sex drive. NO. Not true. What IS true is that it takes work, just like all other aspects of your relationship, to find a rhythm that you are both comfortable with and that fits into your life—which includes how…

Meh, I think it's good once or twice a week to keep your cardiovascular system in tip top shape. And, if you're like me, it's fun as heck. I don't care what it is... dancing, running, etc. I loooove me some cardio. But yes, channeling the energy into muscle development is a better bang for your buck, so to speak!

I've found that the longer I maintained a diet full of veggies, healthy fat, protein, etc. the less I would have cravings for junk. Also, my cravings went WAY down when I started eating more than 1200 calories and getting 100g or more of protein daily. I think when you crave junk food, it's partly out of habit and partly…

Yep, getting dark about 4:30 here. Last week I decided, that's it, can't take it anymore... I'm working out in the morning. It's much better. You should try it.

:blushing: You definitely should go see a doctor. If you ARE pregnant with the Mirena, it could be dangerous. Hope all turns out okay!

Skinny problems? NONE!! It's the BEST!!! :drinker: Seriously though.... 1. Clothes too big is just as bad as clothes too small. 2. My shoes.... seriously. Shoes that used to be just right are now kind of hard to walk in because they're just a little too big. 3. Yep, cold. Brrrrr. Yay for heater on at my work desk even in…

I eat about 1800 daily, usually a little more. I'm starting weight lifting. :) Would love to be friends!

Less calories. Yep!

Hahaha. Hey now. Marketing makes the world go 'round, evil as it may be.
-
YEP. Seriously.

My go-to breakfast is one egg, two or three egg whites, scrambled with salsa, and an english muffin with PB and banana. All the goodness! You can make eggs in the microwave. You can even poach them in the microwave if you're not a scrambled kind of person. Google some instrux!

There's nothing wrong with UofPhoenix. And there IS such a thing as knowing what to do but not doing it yourself.... as I'm sure EVERYBODY on this site knows. ;)

Exercise shouldn't be seen as something you do above and beyond simply to burn max calories and lose max weight... at least in my opinion. I think exercise should be seen as something that is part of your routine, maybe daily, but certainly a few times a week. It should be seen as a way to increase strength, endurance, and…

I don't make it a stipulation of being friends that they have an open diary, but I also do not comment "way to go!" on someone's "was under calorie goal" updates when I can't see an open diary. I have no idea if they're actually doing a good job if I can't see what it is. So really, it's their loss.... because they're not…

And carbs are important too. I use a protein powder because I'm a vegetarian who is also a little sensitive to some dairy products, like cottage cheese.
-
No, it's not hurting you. Did you know bread actually has a decent amount of protein? It's okay! I am a vegetarian too, and try to get more veggies and protein in my day.... my diary is open if you'd like to take a look for ideas! Would love to be friends too :)

I'm 5'4", workout moderately 5-6 days a week, and eat 1800 calories every day, even on days I don't workout. I also have a desk job. I'm losing weight. 1200... tried it for years. Doesn't work in the long term.
-
FYI, I think MFP gives 1200 with less pounds per week.... But 1200 is not enough for MOST people. You should use an online calculator to estimate your BMR and Total Daily Energy Expenditure, then eat at 15% - 20% less than TDEE to lose weight. If you calculate it and find you're not losing OR gaining after 3-4 weeks, then…

I'm a graphic designer. I really love my job. It took me a long time to finally decide to go for a creative career... but I'm so glad I did. Being an animator would be a great job—if you love it, go for it. I think the best advice I'd give to someone looking to go into a creative field would be to just really do some…
