  • Sorry that I've been AWOL of late. I hit a bit of a wall at the end of week #12 (the end of the HIIT cycle) and just felt wrecked. I took two days off, and then two days became 4, which became a full week. I was still walking every day for 75 minutes, but I was just making excuses. Soooo...I forced myself to get up at 4:15…
  • My two favorites by far (and I've done 3 90-day rounds of P90X and a 60-day round of Insanity) are ChaLean Extreme (seriously, I think it's the BEST strength training program for women out there) and Turbo Fire. I did a 90-day 'round' of ChaLean Extreme this spring. It's 5 days/week, 30-45 minutes/day. LOVED the results.…
  • I'm not a huge fan of the Kenpo X workout, however if you do the moves with intensity you will still get a very good calorie burn. You may not be breathing so hard you're gasping for air, but your heart rate will be in the training zone. That said, I found the Kenpo X+ workout from the P90X+ add-on DVDs to be a MUCH better…
  • My rest day is Tuesdays...just move the schedule around so that you start on the appropriate day that will cause your rest day to fall on Sunday instead. Simple as that.
  • A lot of those sites are counterfitters from overseas. Here's the deal...if you find the product for less than $89, which is the wholesale price, it's probably counterfit unless it's coming from a consumer that purchased the product themselves and is selling it used.
  • Not true...you can send an e-mail to the International orders department and they'll take care of you if you're interested in purchasing a Beachbody program such as Insanity, ChaLean Extreme, Turbo Fire, Turbo Jam, P90X, etc. Just send an e-mail to international@beachbody.com and they can give you a quote of the cost…
  • I'm REALLY looking forward to a recovery type week in the hybrid schedule...some easier workouts, no hits, no strength training, a few extra rest/stretch days. That said, I had HIIT 25 and Tone 30 today, but did HIIT 30 instead and destroyed it. The legs were a little rubbery during Tone 30, but what would one expect after…
  • I took the past two days off because my body was simply feeling totally WRECKED! I made sure to eat well, got at least 8 hours of sleep each night, drank tons of water, and was back at it today. I've learned my lesson in the past about not listening to my body...I needed some rest and some recovery time. I listened. If I…
  • The above poster is correct...the workouts are 30-45 minutes, though on some days you also add in a 10-15 minute ab workout as well. The schedule utilizes a 5 day/week rotation with two rest days (not back to back) each week. I love the program for it's variety and the fact that it WORKS! I workout in my home office…
  • I thought the tone/sculpt workouts were going to be a little weak in comparison with CLX, however I was pleasantly surprised. I use the burgundy band (I found the pink one that came with the program to be too light) and I'm getting really good results. I also find that by combining the sculpt/tone workouts with the HIIT…
  • HIIT 30 for the first time today...it actually seemed EASY! Wooot!
  • I don't think I see Fire 60 for another week or so but I'm curious to hear if there are any fire drills and, if so, how many? Congrats on your cardio success! I'm looking forward to trying that one as well! Edited to add my workout for today... 55 EZ, my favorite! BB said I burned 455 calories (HRM said 904). Walk tonight…
  • Fire 60 for the first time last night...I expected it to be ridiculously brutal. I found that when I finished, I felt as though I could do it again! I do believe 'someone' is getting into really good cardiovascular shape. Thank you HIIT 25 drills! Rest day today...need to make it a point to really stretch today. I've been…
  • I lost 20 pounds in my first round (I did Lean because I was SO weak). I went from being able to do 0 push ups on my toes on day 1, to being able to do 142 push ups on my toes during my last chest and back workout. I did an additional 2 rounds (one of doubles and another of P90X+). I continued to drop my fat bad percentage…
  • Well...that's because I'm a bonehead! LOL...the ACTUAL link is www.facebook.com/nancyschwertfeger I'll do a look for you as well.
  • Once again, on my schedule I see HIIT 25 and Tone 30. I TOTALLY pushed myself in the HIIT workout today...bringing my knees as high as I possibly could. Had my heart rate at 91-92% of max at the end of each circuit, but was really amazed at how much it dropped by the time the next circuit started (usually right around 76%…
  • I did three 90-day rounds of P90X last year. I started with the "Lean" program, then did a round of "Doubles" and then did a round of P90X+. The program comes with a nutrition and fitness guide. The guide will tell you the specific order of the 13 DVDs for the entire 90 days. P90X takes a tremendous commitment, both with…
  • Do you have cable television? You might look at the fitness channels because those would be FREE! I have Comcast cable, and we have a section called "On Demand." Within the On Demand channels is one devoted to fitness and exercise. I can do Tae Bo, Biggest Loser workouts, Firm workouts, about 40 to choose from and all come…
  • Another thing to consider...if you're bending over to pick up a child, many of us tend to bend over at the waist, thus allowing our head to drop to waist level or below. If you squat to pick up said child, rather than bending over, and allowing your head to stay fairly vertical and above your waist, you may be able to…
  • I'm shaped like you describe as well...I'm doing the Turbo Fire/ChaLean Extreme hybrid program (I'm currently in week #11) and the cardio from the TF is definitely getting me a more lean look overall. I refuse to give up lifting weights, though, as I know that adding lean muscle mass is going to help me achieve the goals I…
  • I would not advise a beginner to working out to utilize Insanity. It's an incredibly extreme cardio program, and in order to truly get the best results, you should be at least in moderate shape. I realize that there are plenty of people, though, who have been quite overweight or who used this as their first fitness program…
  • Sculpt 30 and HIIT 25 today...I've said it before and I'll say it again. There are a LOT of plyometric squat jumps in HIIT 25!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'm doing ChaLean Extreme. In month one, you do 12 reps and you lift heavy enough to TRULY fail between rep 10-12. In month two, you lower the reps and up the weight and truly fail between 6-8. In month 3, you're back to 10-12 for failure. I'm using dumbbells between 12 lbs. (mainly tricep work) to 30 pounds (chest…
  • I generally purchase a smallish one and then eat it in two meals, two nights in a row. I cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, cook it, and just wrap the 1/2 I don't eat on the first night in foil, put it in the refrigerator and microwave it the next day (I scoop it out of the shell first)
  • To be honest, to really know your calorie expenditure during each of the exercises during the week, you really need to invest in a heart rate monitor. I know the book says you burn 600 calories per day just through exercise, but I found that to be an exaggerated number for me personally. The only workout that gave me close…
  • If your school lunch is anything like the cafeteria serves where I work (I'm a middle school teacher), I would pack my lunch. Seriously, they served DORITOS twice last week!! I'm guessing they're considering it to be a grain. If you contact the school cafeteria, they will have the information. I have several students who…
  • Just finished Tone 30 and HIIT 25. I used to always do the cardio workout first and then the strength training, but I found that if I do HIIT first, I'm so sweaty that the resistance bands slip and slide all over my arms, making it tough to keep my form. Doing it in the reverse order prevents that problem, but after the…
  • My workouts are scheduled daily and are NON-negotiable. I'm a teacher, so I rarely stay after 3:00 anymore (I used to be there until 4:30 every night) because my fitness is my priority. I'm home by 3:30, have a snack, and I have a deal with myself...4:30 is THE time to lace up the sneakers and get started. Not 4:40, not…
  • I had Fire 45 and Abs 10 today. I really wasn't feeling very motivated today, so my pre-workout dog walk was REALLY short (sorry doggies). However, about 20 minutes into Fire 45 I finally found my mojo. Abs 10 is STILL brutal.
  • It's brutal and will also require a lot of strength in your hip flexors. I started by attempting to get to 18, then 20, then 22, and finally all 25 of the reps on each of the exercises.
