  • I would also double check with your doctor with regards to your back. Also, you may feel you need to REALLY modify (or even eliminate) some of the Ab Ripper moves...they may put entirely too much stress on your weak back at first.
  • My sister is an early morning runner. One morning her alarm (it was set to a local radio station) went off and she hit the snooze, deciding that she just didn't want to run that morning. Nine minutes later, the radio alarm came back on playing the song..... FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say she got up and ran.
  • I'm on my 8th day of forced rest from shin splints in my left leg. It's the most ridiculous pain...and walking made mine much worse. You truly need to ice, ice, ice, take some anti-inflammatories and rest. I feel a ton better today, but I'm giving myself two more days of rest before I ease back into things.
  • It's a 6 day/week schedule. If you really want to get great results, work both the fitness and nutrition aspects of the program. If you're at all intimidated by the program, I would follow the "Lean" rotation of DVDs as it's more P90X-Lite and a bit more user friendly than the class rotation.
  • modify, modify, modify...and don't sell yourself short. I did my first round two years ago and was ridiculously out of shape, but I got my fat but moving every day and 90 days later I was 20+ pounds lighter and could do LOTS of push ups on my toes.
  • I'll give a 3rd vote to Moving Comfort. They have a 'bra finder' tool on the website as well.
  • I 2nd this. It's a calorie killer!
  • Insanity is push yourself until you're ready to lose your left lung onto the floor intervals. You do long intervals at maximum effort for 3-4 minutes, then get a 30 second break. Rinse and repeat. The drills are more sports minded type drills that are plyometric (jump training) in nature. Turbo Fire is a cardio kickboxing…
  • You won't be saying that after you spend 8 weeks rehabbing an injury that could have been prevented with just an extra 10 minutes of stretching after each workout. Ask me how I know...
  • In the back of the Turbo Fire book is a 20-week ChaLean Extreme/Turbo Fire hybrid program. It's VERY good. I highly recommend doing that.
  • I'm a P90X (3 times) grad, Insanity grad, ChaLean Extreme grad, and a Turbo Fire grad. I can honestly say that Turbo Fire is my FAVORITE workout of the bunch. For me, I need to strength train, but it's not my favorite thing to do. I generally am combining Turbo Fire with either P90X or ChaLean Extreme. Anyhow, here's my…
  • It's my soul workout...the one I actually will get up at 4 a.m. to do. It's not as physically hard as Insanity, but I find I burn a few more calories doing Turbo Fire than I did with Insanity in the same amount of time.
  • Which is the exact reason why I chose to do the "Lean" version for my first round. I think of "Lean" as P90X-Lite. When I started it, I was fat and out of shape...it took me 6 weeks to finally be able to do a real push up on my toes. By the end of round 2, I could bust out almost 200. It's a great program if you truly are…
  • I'm about 6 days in with my first bout of shin splints. Mine can after a serious leg workout on Monday afternoon, followed by a HIIT workout early the next morning. I'm guessing that the tightness in the calves from Monday caused limited flexibility in those same calves to compensate for the plyometric jump training the…
  • As a Bodybugg user, I think their food database is a pain in the butt. So, what I do is just log all of my food on MFP and at the end of the day, enter my entire day's food (along with fats, carbs, proteins, etc.) as "Calories 1/24" into the MFP site. MUCH easier than hunting around on their site for foods or always adding…
  • With your wife's success in mind, I would choose ChaLean Extreme. You'll both get a great workout from it, it's similar in nature to P90X (though the workouts are much shorter and it's only a 5 day/week workout plan), plus it's currently on SALE!
  • You can preview many popular home DVDs at collagevideo.com. I'm a Beachbody girl...have done P90X, Insanity, ChaLean Extreme, Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire. Currently doing a combo of P90X and Turbo Fire. My absolutely favorite of the bunch, though, is Turbo Fire. Yes, the Beachbody videos are more expensive, however, the key…
  • Turbo FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Insanity is a completely different type of program from P90X. I can honestly say that it is also the most challenging fitness program I have ever done in my life. I will get you in tremendous cardiovascular shape whereas P90X is geared more for overall strength training with some cardio thrown in. The key to being…
  • I'm in round #4, week 4. My first 3 rounds were in 2009 and while I worked out religiously with other programs in 2010, I'm ALL kinds of sore after Legs and Back day every single week. UGH!
  • I did my 60 day round last January and February after finishing 3 90-day rounds of P90X. It busted my butt every single day. It was VERY challenging! It was also very tough on my knees. I appreciate the program for what it is, and there are many people on here that love, love, love the program. I, however, do not. I did…
  • In my first 90 day round of P90X (I did the Lean rotation in my first round because I was SO out of shape and overweight), I lost a total of 19 pounds and a gazillion inches. I lost another 9 in my 2nd round and 4 in my 3rd round of P90X+. I followed the nutrition plan to the T in the first 60 days. I followed the portion…
  • 1. Try playing the Shoulders & Arms in a different DVD player or on your computer. Next option, use one of those DVD 'fix' kits to fix any scratches in the DVD that might keep it from playing. 2. KenpoX--ask the person who gave you the set where it is. Otherwise, you're unfortunately SOL. Also, make sure the person who…
  • I'm in my 4th round of P90X. When I got it, I was VERY out of shape. I chose to follow the Lean version which, IMO, is more like P90X Lite. It made me realize how much I love exercise and made me realize how strong and powerful I am to get through it once, let alone another two times! Plus, I found the nutrition guide very…
  • During the workweek, I have to leave for work by 6:15. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I get up at 4:00 and workout for 30-45 minutes at 4:15 with a friend who needed a workout support buddy. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I workout at 4:30 p.m. It's a non-negotiable time and everyone in the house knows it. : ) Saturdays and…
  • Prior to my workout, I set my Bodybugg's 'trip' function to zero. Once the workout is over, I just take a look at the calories burned during my 'trip' and there you have it. Oftentimes, I'll automatically subtract 70-80 calories as that is the amount I would have burned just sitting on the sofa.
  • When I did P90X for the first time, I was quite overweight and had a very minimal fitness level. P90X scared the living snot out of me, so I chose the Lean rotation simply because I thought the first workout (Chest and Back) was overwhelming with all those push ups (I literally could do a total of about 12 on my knees).…
  • It's in both the fitness guidebook (not the nutrition book) and on the foldout calendar.
  • For me, generally around 100 calories per 10 minutes, so just under 600. A bit more if I really push myself to exhaustion.
  • A 2T serving is only 45 calories and 6ish g of fat. MUCH less than normal PB, and if you're a PB junkie like me, one serving is simply NOT enough.
