Just check in the mirror. Getting too lean i.e. below 10% is practically impossible for the average person so you don't need to worry about it. Just get lean enough to think yep, that looks good.

Wouldn't use a trainer. I think you need the knowledge yourself and the motivation should come from within. Anything else is theoretically at least, unsustainable.

Have a pathetic, shallow, vanity fuel'd goal in life and realise this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Mine is to get a bonafide six pack aged 52. How childish is that?

Seems like everyone agrees that the MFP recommendations for protein are way too low. I set mine at 60%, which works out at 250grams per day. Important if you lift weights.

I do up to 8 reps of 145Kgs which I think is around 320Ibs and then a couple more sets of 130Kgs. Not too bad for a 52 year old I guess.
