Hi from Brighton, UK!

Hi there

I've literally just signed up as I've been pretty naughty today. I need to lose about 30lbs, but I'm pretty unmotivated. I normally stick to it for 2 weeks to a month, then go right back into bad habits!

I used to weigh a very happy 9 stone 3 (5 foot 5 inches, 23 years old at the time) but then work became very stressful, I was bullied by my manager (had to take up a grievance through HR) and dropped to below 8 stone through stress. All I had time to eat would be a muffin and half a sandwich. That's it. The last straw was when I collapsed on the escalators whilst running to try and catch my train before it left - I cut my leg pretty badly.

Thankfully I left that job and now work in a fantastic little office about a 30 minute drive from home. Only problem now is contentment + a Tesco literally a 5 minute walk away

So over the last two years I went from an unhealthy below 8 stone, to an unhealthy nearly 12 stone  none of my clothes fit and I'm getting quite fed up with it. I want to be back to my normal self! Need to find a way to stick to it!

How does everyone stay motivated and stick to it long term?

Nice to meet you all,
Emma

Hi, I'm from Brighton, well, Portslade, was living in Hove for 7 years and just bought a house in Portslade.

I try and go to classes at the Coral in Hove... motivation is HARD!!

Feel free to add me! xx
  • Have a pathetic, shallow, vanity fuel'd goal in life and realise this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Mine is to get a bonafide six pack aged 52. How childish is that?

Hi, I am in Goring (just the other side of Worthing to you) - Motivation has not been a pproblem since I have been using MFP, apply the rules and it works! I have never stuck to any plan for longer than 3 months before and I have only ever lost about 1 1/2 stone before. On the odd day when I do need a little help, the MFP Community has come to the rescue!
I have also found, someone else weighing me once a week (a nice gym instructor) keeps me on the straight and narrow.
Good luck - Go for it! You can do this if you want it
