I wear a running skirt for the same reason. I don't get why manufacturers don't make longer shorts for women! Now if I wanted to run in my underwear then that's another matter. Way to short shorts out there

A few of my friend are doing this one! Heard its quite a challenging one

I love my running club, been running with them for 3 years. I had just completed c25k and not run anything beyond 3 miles. I took a brief break from running in 2012 and started running with them end of 2012. I got encouraged to sign up to a 10 miler and haven't looked back! ran five halfs last year and running two full…

What time of the day do you run? straight after a meal? I find that if I've run within 2 hours of a heavy meal I get awful cramps/ side stitches. Try and eat atleast 3 hours before if you must, or eat after a run

Couch to 5k. you can get apps and podcasts. I did it in 2011 when there were no apps for it but nowadays you are a spoilt for choice. Take it slow and be consistent, the rest will follow! good luck

Another vote for hal higdon plans, you can also use runners world smart coach. I tweaked both and adapted them to suit me. Good luck!

Hi I am running my first full in May next year.

I agree, training runs for a half can easily get to 2 hours for a training run. You are looking for time on feet so its about running for longer rather than faster initially. To the OP, Layers are your friend in the winter as you can easily remove clothing if you get too warm. It also depends on how cold it gets where you…

Ok I will use myself as an example- my PB back in march for half marathon was 2hr 18mins. I ran my 3rd marathon two days ago and I ran in it 2hrs 2mins! Goal was to get under 2:10. It can be done- just takes some hard work and determination!

Great eastern run on 2 days ago (half mara), My time was 2hr 2mins, HUGE PB for me, beat my old time by 16 mins ! My best time for a half mara was 2:18 in March this year! Next goal sub 2!!!

No I am doing the great eastern instead. Good luck for tomorrow!

I took nearly 10 months off running last year and got back into it in December starting off at 12 minute miles. This is my progress so far! Recent results: 10k in August in 55:36, beat my previous time of 60:02 (in March). 5k in Sept time 25:40, beat my previous time of 32:17 (in dec) I need to work on my half marathon…

hey well done! Who cares if you didn't run the whole thing, you completed it! Think of how well you will do if you run the whole thing. 29:30 is very respectable for a walk/run! some people cant even do that for a full run! keep it up

Good luck, I I don't get into London, I am looking to do this for my first full!

I have few friends who've run it and really enjoyed it.

Parkruns are great, mine is by a lake and its lush! Love seeing my times fall, 27:22 for my second one! I am chasing 25 mins :)
-
Wow! Thanks for all the info everyone! I've got it and just need to play with and get comfy with it. Have a half on Sunday so will give it a go then :)
-
I don't know where you're from but in the Uk we have parkruns. Now from what I gather, its chip timed , however I use that term loosely. These are free 5k runs during the weekend in local parks, you have to register and get your individual barcode which you print. When you turn up to run, you have to bring your barcode…

Good luck with your training! I do my second half in a weeks time! Cross training is a good way to switch It up if you fancy a change to the routine a bit.
-
Well done for your time! That's amazing! I am chasing 2 hours too,'have my second half in a week's time. Have some More half marathons lined up for this year but hoping to do a full next year too. Good luck with your training

Hello Totally possible, I ran my 10k pb today at 58:04 ( have been running since 2011). I took a long break from running last year and got back into it in December, started off with 12.5 min miles and am now down to 9-9.5 min miles. I run about 3-4 times a week , can vary due to childcare etc. I run on a Tuesday with my…

well done! that's an awesome improvement! I am looking to do 3 more halves this year before I sign up to a full next year. My first half was 2:18 and I am hoping to get to 2:10 or better.

Some excellent advice here. I have to warm up before I run a 5k as I really struggle otherwise. Similar to EssJay76, I feel like I am in the zone after the 4th or 5th mile. Takes me a good 20 minutes to get comfortable.
