Ran Dayton River Corridor Half this morning. 1:45:28 official for a 8:03 pace. This is 8 seconds from a HM PR. Garmin had me at 13.3 miles and a 7:54 pace. Finished 84th overall, and 5th in Age Group (males 45-49). Small race - about 600 people.

This was a tune up for next weeks Columbus Marathon.

Completed my first HM today with a time of 02:33:41. Come to find out that there was a mix up on the course that caused the majority of us to run 13.35 instead of 13.1. So proud of myself.

Ran the Rock N Roll Brooklyn 10k this weekend in 1 hr 5 min. First 10k so obviously a PR. I only started running in May, so I'm pretty happy with myself. Registering for my first half on December 8th - hopefully it isn't too much of a jump to make in 2 months.

    Hartford Marathon on 10/13

    5:16:02

I hit the halfway at 2:09:something, but my body broke down at mile 16 and I could barely walk, let alone run!

"Boo-hoo"? Does that mean you're happy or not happy with that? Any PR is a good PR in my book!

Yes, you're right. I'm being a big baby. I just doubled my training volume since the last pr, so I expected it to be a little more dramatic.

Ursula Rains Balboa Boogie 5k - 17:04 on a short course (Garmin had 3.02), good for 8th overall/4th AG
  • First 26.2 - ING Hartford Marathon - 3:50:19.

I missed my goal of sub-3:45, but given that I was fighting bronchitis back for the five days prior, I'll take it. Especially given that 3.5 years ago, 1.5 miles was undoable for me.

That is an awesome first marathon -- congratulations, and very close to your target time, especially given your illness. I was sick for 3 out of 4 weeks before Boston last year and missed my target time by 25 minutes.

18:29 5K this morning (chip time)

My goal was sub 20 minutes. I have made big improvements since my first 27:23 5k last December

I credit many of you for helping me develop as a runner! Thanks again for all great tips and support over the last year since I started running!

I will be running my first beer mile in a few hours. I will let you know how it goes (I know my pace will be much slower than my 5k)!

I ran the beer mile in 9:18 (3rd place).

Unfortunately the 5k course measurement may have been off. One of my MFP friends knew the winner who ran a 14:41 (he normally runs a 16:20). I trust him more than the race organizer despite the USATF certification. I am not happy!

I ran my very first half marathon yesterday morning. My posted finishing time was 2:19:02.

I am SO happy with my results and the race in general. I had a great amount of fun, felt great through the whole thing, and sprinted my way across the finish line with tears in my eyes.

From not being able to run/jog for more than 1 minute last November to completing this race 11 months later feels like I can take on anything. :-)

Thanks to all of you for your great advice and tools to succeed.

That sucks. It sounds like it was REALLY short.

Yes I am frustrated. I found this online today but who knows if the turnaround point cones were placed exactly where they should have been according to the map:
    http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=417974

Instead of trying to figure out what the exact distance was I am just accepting that it was not accurate and moving on.

There is no reason I need to be in a rush. There will be plenty of more races for me next year.

Exactly. At the very least, you got in a good race pace run. The more you race, the better you race.
