Great job! Saturday was my first race as well and I cannot wait to run in more.

Thanks and great time! The course I was on also had hills, which I was prepared for because I run in this park all the time. The only problem was the race went the opposite direction I thought it was and we ran up hills at the very beginning. That threw me off a little and now I know which way they run the races because I…

I would keep on going. Some days will be better and some days you'll be slow and that is totally ok. Most people will repeat a week if they really feel they could do better, or if they skip a day, were sick, etc. I would say finish off the 3 day of week 1 and see how you feel about your progress. Good luck!

TMBG came to Louisville last summer for a free concert and it was so much fun ^_^ Still one of my favorite bands ever.

I use Run Double for Andriod. It comes with a free two weeks and after that is is $1.60 and it is well worth it. It lays out the schedule you'll be running, shows your stats at the end and uploads them to the Run Double website in your account. You can use your own music playlist or internet radio like Pandora. It has…

The chocolate gaming dice set is THE.PERFECT.THING for my GM this XMAS. I hope they taste ok, if not I'm sure he'll love the novelty of the gift.

I have this exact same problem. A few things I've tried that have worked to combat this include 1) taking my workout clothes to work, changing and going straight to the gym/park right after I leave work 2) kept my sleep schedule as regular as possible (that meant not staying up super late on weekends and waking up like I…

Congrats! I know the feeling of not running to frickin' loving it. Good luck on the 10k training. I am starting when I return from my vacation (but thankfully the hotel has a treadmill and such). C25K is the best thing I've done this year.

Great job! I love running outdoors. It is nice to have a change of pace and not just run in one spot for 30 minutes. Keep it up and the huffing and puffing will slowly go away. I've been there, done that.. Keep up the great attitude!

A trip to a beach. Any beach will do.

http://www.runnersworld.com/topic/0,7122,s6-241-287-0-0,00.html ^^ Runner's World has a wealth of information on stretching. Hope this helps :)

I generally do a quick smoothie of unsweetened almond milk, greek yogurt, protein powder and maybe a little peanut butter. It takes just a couple of minutes to make and is packed with protein and little sugar. Or you could just do the greek yogurt by itself.

I know what you mean! It feels nice to be able to snap it together from behind and not have to twist/pull it over.

I loved playing the Atari even after we got the NES in the house. Pitfall remains one of my favorite games ever.

Congrats! I finished on Oct 12th. I am going to start 10k training next month, until then I'm going to build up to 4 miles. Keep up the great work :)

Great job! 140 is my goal and as of today I have 67 to lose. I needed to see this for motivation. Keep up the great work :)

First off congrats to everyone who has finished! I just finished W9D3 and for good measure I put the app on open run and I ran 5k in 37 minutes. I have NEVER ran 3 miles in a row in my life until today! I never thought in my life I would say I enjoy running. My first 5k is November 10th :)

Haha, agreed. *grumble grumble* I remember back in my day we had 8 GeoCities pages and 2 Angelfire pages and we waited 10 hours for them to load. And the dial up was the music of our people :grumble:

Reasons like that are why I want a Twitter account, but reasons like that are why I would never get off the internet :p Anyways, sounds fantastic!

Beautiful pictures :) If I think of it I'll post some later. I go running in a park as well and this time of year it is so beautiful with the leaves changing.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I want to improve my distance. I am afraid the walking breaks in the 10k app will throw me off, but I do want a 10k to be a future goal so I will give the two week trial a go and see if there is any improvement.

I have the same problem. I am a social worker and I would look totally morbid if I were to burst out laughing while typing a case. So when I spend time on meme sites I have to contain myself
-
Congrats! It is a great feeling to hit that 20 minute run and complete it :)

Thanks for the link, I am going to check this out. I am going to start the 5k to 10k app at some point and I know I will need music. My brain wonders around too much and I'll do a lot of negative self talk if I don't occupy my brain.

I've never done more than maybe 3 or 4 in a row, but only recently found out through my yoga instructor that people do that kind of thing  When I do yoga tonight I'll see if I can squeeze some more in. I generally do sun salutaions for my running warm up.

I had to explain to my 8 year old niece that my Andy Warhol inspired Albert Einstein teeshirt was not Willy Wonka.

Congrats on your progress! I am doing W9D2 today. I've made it this far with no injuries and only minor side stiches. I never thought I'd run 30+ minutes again after not doing it for about 8 years. Heston, If you are looking for a 10k app I know the Run Double app on Android phones has one. I am going to start that after I…

I am going to finish out W9 with no music and see how I do. I also ran my fastest pace yesterday. Generally I listen to upbeat, faster tempo music, but if it slows down so do I. I'll see how I finish the week out. Laurayinz, I didn't notice any changes to my speed until W8 and now running for the 30 minutes I have a…
