  • I also agree. Hard to explain to people. I have three others in my life doing the 'diet' thing. I try to get them to understand that it is a way of life and not a 'diet'. They just need to make healthy decisions. Unfortunately when you are done 'dieting' you go back to eating regularly for you and gain the weight back.…
  • Hmm, didn't know some of my spices really had calories that made a difference. Can't wait to see what others say.
  • VERY COOL!!! Sounds like you might have a few 'New' outfits hiding in the closet?? I have a few shirts that are now like that. Even need to get rid of some of the cloths that are too big. LOL.
  • Ok. I know I have trouble doing this sometimes but why not ask? My kids bust on me for changing the menu when I go out but hey, I sure feel better after doing it. Good luck in finding out. I find that when shopping you need to check the lables because they will have artificial sweetners and if they bother you, better…
  • You look so wonderful!!! Congrats!!
  • Are you eating all your calories? Remember to not starve the body or it shuts down. You need fuel to do all the workouts. Also, I tend to watch the fat content in all my stuff now. Good luck and don't get discouraged.
  • Well, I'm usually strapped for time in the morning so lunch has to be something for a few days. I get some fat free cheese (kraft has singles) and turkey breast lunch meat (hillshire farms) and a low carb wrap/tortilla. Add some veggies like spinach or tomatoes and low call dressing ( Iike the kraft light cheese ranch) and…
  • I have the same problem and being diabetic it drives me nuts sometimes. So many regular foods have sugar. I try to stay close but am working on not worrying if it is from food (veggies and fruit) and not processed sugar. I even watch labels and go for the product with the least amount of sugar most times. You are doing…
  • Keep your chin up. All of us fall off the wagon. I've been slipping and now I'm trying to watch the fat and not let the weekends I have my kids trip me up. Think of it as being healthy and not a diet. Also make sure you are getting enough sleep. You did it once before and you can do it again. Good luck!
  • Congrats!! Nice way to start the weekend!

  • Welcome!!! This is a great site to keep track of things and the support is wonderful too. Good luck!
  • Hey, you have taken the first step. Each change helps so keep telling yourself that. I agree with the others. Planning ahead when you know you are going out helps. Then you can add the meal here (or as close as you can get) and see how it works in your plan. Also if you can't plan ahead, grilled without sauce things and…
  • how about avacado?? or a new idea from biggest loser was putting on hummus.

  • laughing cow cheese (only 35 calories a wedge) add a earth grain thin bun (100 calories) I would say eating some more protein is good. I've bought 'Body Fortress Whey Protein' powder. Low in sugar and high in protein. I'm trying to cut out added sugar with my diet but even milk has sugar (AAARRRGH)
  • I know how tough it is. We have lots of those type things here at the office. I tend to go and then just not partake in the food. Where there is cake, I just say no thank you. Of course after the 4 person has asked if I want some, it does get tiring to say that you are watching what you eat. Amazing that people see me…
  • Well welcome everyone on the thread!!! I found this site from some friends and I love it. I would say one thing to do to stay motivated is to measure yourself. Sometimes that darn scale doesn't move but you are losing inches which is GREAT. Remember to celebrate the small things like cloths fitting better and being able to…
  • Ok, so I'm in. I will even cut out my skinny cow ice cream. LOL. I have downgraded to that so out it goes also. I will get the kids to finish it up today so I don't have anything sweet in the house. Oh no!! Does that mean my fancy creamers too?? Shoot. Ok. So it is for a month and you never know, might be able to do longer…
  • I agree that you should get a little more protein in your diet but of course it should be good lean protein. If you are working out then it helps repair the muscles.
  • Welcome!!! And I feel your pain. I have 'irish triplets'. LOL. I have a set of twins and a son a year younger. Of course the twins are now 16 (boy and girl) and my son is 15. Congrats on the first step coming here. I wish I had done this long ago but I'm doing it so you keep up the good work.

  • It is a shame when people you expect to be the ones boosting you while doing this are so negative. Just remember you are doing it for you. I had told some relatives that I had lost a little weight but my biggest goal was cutting my meds for diabetis and high blood pressure in half. The relative said to lose weight 'just…
  • Hi, Welcome!! I would say you are on the right track taking the first step coming here. I want to lose 50 lbs and remember it took a while to put it on, it will take a while and some effort to get it off. Also, try planning what you eat during the day first before you start the day. I find that if I have everything…
  • Congrats! That is wonderful and I agree about the support here being helpful. Keep it up!
  • Good Luck! I'm also on meds for High BP and Diabetis. I'm working on dropping the weight to hopefully lower the meds and maybe one day get off them. If nothing else, I will be healthier. You can track sodium in food on here as well to help your bp.
  • Yep. I agree that it is a 'guy thing'. They just tend to burn it faster. I would love to know all the science behind it if anyone finds it out. Congrats again for him jumping on the band wagon. So much easier when everyone is watching what they eat in a household.
  • Welcome!! This is a great site. The support is good too with people that are going through the things you are.
  • Ok so here is a thought? Kind of crazy but I'm sure it happens to them all the time. Ask the people and if they aren't sure, can you look at the bottle? I'm sure there is a ton of sodium in it (I'm trying to watch mine and love hot sauce). Good luck!
  • I would say any kind of getting out or off the couch is helpful. Taking a walk or watching some exercises on TV even and working out as much as you are comfortable. Start slow and you will see your stamina get better. Remember it is a lifestyle change and each thing is getting you healthier. Good Luck and keep up the good…
  • I agree with planning the day before. It usually helps me and then I don't stress about what I can eat. It is also helping me pick good choices. It is amazing what some foods have in them. Good Luck and keep it up!
  • Welcome. BTW? If you are having trouble, I started with a small meal every 3 hours. That was so I wasn't 'starving' all the time! Good luck!
