Keep going over on protien?

I keep going over on my protien allowances and I am not eating an excessive amount I don't think. I am already ten over for today after just lunch and breakfast. I haven't gone to gym yet so I know I will get some of it back, but is it really a problem to go over if calories, carbs, and fat are in check?

I think the average person needs way more protein than the alotted amount. I wish they would raise it.0

I agree that you should get a little more protein in your diet but of course it should be good lean protein. If you are working out then it helps repair the muscles.0

I think that the majority of Americans eat way too much protein. You probably don't need as much as you think. But, I wouldn't worry about it, if your calories are on track. : )0

I aim to go over. Keeps me full- and if i eat all my lean protein in my meal, it keeps my carbs low and keeps me satisfied longer.0

You can raise it yourself if you want to.....I did.....0 -
MFP allowance for protein is pretty low. It's recommended that we have 1g of protein per lb of body weight so if a person weighs 130lbs they should aim for 130g of protein, It's not a hard and fast rule but a rough guide. I always aim for 100g+ of protein per day as it's crucial to build muscle. :happy:0

Best thing to go over on.......helps preserve the muscle some while dieting. Way better than going over on carbs!0

I agree! Protein should be the last thing you worry about going over on. High Protein diets are the way to go!0 -
I keep going over my protein too. I take it as a good thing because up until recently I really didn't eat a lot of protein, meat particularly. I used to go overboard on carbs (pasta) and now my diet is more balanced.0

Ok, I just joined MFP last week. I have been in search of what to do when protiens are over. My boyfriend and i both are 15-30 g over dayily on our protiens and just this wk have started meeting our calories (closer anyway) I'm anywhere from 180-400 calories under daily.... Is this anti-productive for our bodies and what's another way to try and level our diets out? Thanks in advance for any advice...0
