5lb in 3 weeks plus toning up isn't too much to hope for...but tough enough to keep you focussed, I reckon!

sounds like fun... today, I think I'm a pair of trainers. supportive for exercise, but no use whatsoever sat in a cupboard!

I use both, but am different on each. Facebook is full of uni friends, people I went to school with and colleagues...people who I prefer not to show vulnerability to. I've always been self conscious about weight struggles and prefer to only share that with people in a similar situation. plus my stepchildren are on there so…

definitely in that boat - am heavier now than when I started back in August! can only focus on the future, or I'll drive myself nuts! plus the extra weight is hampering my running, so that's a reason to get back on track. is there something specific you found easier with 25lb less weight? clothes shopping? exercises? focus…

have a couple of big glasses of water as well...sometimes "hunger" is actually thirst. snack wise, I go for carrot, celery, grapes and slim a soup

I can relate to using any excuse to stick my head in the chocolate box! a phone call from my mother, a brain-melting day at work, a bad night's sleep and too much to do tend to make me want to inhale cake! I have a couple of tips though... 1) if possible, don't have bad stuff in the house! 2) find a healthy treat. mine is…

yep, I'm back to zero pounds lost. zip. zilch. nada. trying to focus on the future now, rather than how much I've lost and regained over the years!
-
31 with no kids of my own. I could blame the stepchildren for always having chocolate in the house, but that would be clutching at straws!! also felt fat all my life, although, looking back at photos, I could cope with being as "fat" as I was at 16!! xx

no matter how slow you run, you''re lapping everyone on the sofa. :-)

Hello, Xmas aside, I tend to be a daily user and log everything...including the blips! Starting again today so some new Brit pals to motivate me would be nice. also a runner and occasionally fanatical about housework (it burns loads of calories!!)

to stop setting myself so many unachievable goals and then beating myself up for not getting anywhere! small and manageable but frequent is the theme for 2013.
-
not counted up but flipping miles! aiming for quality in 2013 as I want to start improving times.

if you're faced with as buffet and determined to be healthy, then avoid pastry! stick to chicken wings, salad and maybe a couple of breadsticks. can you find out what will be served in advance? then you can look up calories and have some kind of plan before you go. and try to mingle a bit, think of a couple of conversation…

Hi, no experience of this personally, but my first thought was to speak to your doctor/psychiatrist. if they know you have weight loss goals which could be derailed by your condition, they might be able to help. e.g. by stepping up counselling or looking into medication when you're in a down cycle. at the very least,…

so true!! I run 4 times a week and regularly do half marathons yet I have at least 30lb to lose. my own fault since I eat so flipping much! and another reason I like MFP as I can track how much I SHOULD be able to eat after a 6 mile run...never an entire pizza, for some reason...!!

I have similar issues with running...I call the tough ones 'cottage cheese runs' as it feels like I'm wading through thick, gunky, horrible cottage cheese! After one of those, I try to draw a line under it and get back to it on the next session.

http://my.asics.co.uk/ This one lets you build your own training plan, depending on time goals. From personal experience, (I've done 6 half marathons in the past 4 years), I find that one long run a week is essential, and getting that up to at least 10miles 1 month before the event is best. During the week, I only ever…

I have no idea! But I record the episodes and use it to motivate me when I do my in-front-of-the-telly workout. I figure that if someone who weighs 2-3times what I do can do all those bench presses, then I can hold a plank for a little bit longer, do another set of press ups and maybe some stair stepping...!

Amen to that - I've just kick-started myself back into it today by going for a run and logging again. This way, when 01/01/13 comes, I can feel that little bit smug that I'm ALREADY sorting my health out, rather than getting on the 'January Hamster Wheel'!

Ok, had my weekend off and really enjoyed it - needed to get away from everything! I'm back to logging now, but I've set the calories to maintain so I don't feel too restricted/guilty for not sticking to it. I'd rather at least try to stay a bit healthier since 2 weeks of eating bad things is bad for my immune system, as…

Very good point!! I've decided to not log this weekend, as I'm away with the girls. But I have also planned to go for a run and we are usually a fairly healthy bunch so it shouldn't be too much of a disaster. I'll start logging again on Monday and try to enter the festive season feeling a bit healthier! Thanks everyone!

Weekly Goal: 5000 Mon: calories burned: 266 (walk to work + walk at lunchtime) will hopefully get to the gym this evening...plus I need to do cleaning! Tues: calories burned (how they were burned) Wed: calories burned (how they were burned) Thur: calories burned (how they were burned) Fri: calories burned (how they were…

There is rather a lot of (sometimes conflicting) information isn't there?! Food -wise...I'm not in the best position to give good advice at the moment since my willpower has left the building...! Other than always always ALWAYS eat breakfast, check food labels (low fat can mean high sugar or no taste...!) and don't eat in…

No idea if you can get these in the US but i like Zest, Bodyfit and Womens' Running

thanks everyone.

Thanks all...greek yogurt and hummous will be hitting my shopping trolley this weekend!
-
I'm sure pilates will be fine as cross training. I've done 6 half-marathons and my usual training programs consisted of running 3 times a week, then whatever I could cram in around a full time job and a house that won't clean itself! Good luck!

www.runnersrescue.com my first stop for any running injuries/niggles.

How about cooking a family meal for them? It'd be a nice way to get together, say thanks to them for taking you back in...and show them that healthy food can be nice! Or maybe join in with your dad cooking breakfast, and give him some tips on what you prefer to eat these days. You could change the focus from 'healthy/diet'…

The scales say about 2lb...but it feels like a ton as I'm so bloated and lethargic!
