Thanks everyone. I'm usually fairly quick to get a hot shower and get changed - it's about 1-2hours later that I'm reaching for a mug of tea and a blanket! Will keep swigging the water. :drinker:

Going to give this a go to get past a plateau...and also to motivate myself to make a few healthy choices on holiday this week! Unheard of for me to tell people what I weigh so this is a bit of a hurdle... HW: 198 SW: 181 (this time) CW: 172 GW: 167 (end of April) UGW: 139 H: 5'4 A: 32 Other goal for this month is to run…

I second what allshebe said. Plus, can you check menus of truck stops in advance, to help you plan ahead? Do your stops give you time for a 10minute walk? That'll burn a few calories and help you feel a bit more in control. Also, since you spend most of your time in the truck, how about keeping things in there that will…

Just had a quick look on YouTube and found a few...

My bridesmaid is my 9 year old stepdaughter and I'll settle for whatever dress she vaguely likes - she is not remotely girly! For that reason, I'm sticking to cream, silver and gold for colours so if she goes for fuchsia/lime green/orange, there shouldn't be too much of a clash!

Just checked... Caramel chew chew 100ml = 240cal Phish food ice cream 100no = 230cal Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt 100ml = 160cal So slightly better but possibly not as good as skinny cow...

I couldn't find it for ages so I switched to Ben & Jerry Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt-yum which tastes ice creamy enough for me, . Plus it has chocolate. Also tried yoomoo frozen yogurt but all the flavours I've tried are gross!

I went for 'motivational'...

I go to Pilates once a week and now that I think about it, I am probably one of the more overweight people there. I never notice in the class as I'm too busy focussing on my posture and the exercise - I think yoga is similarly demanding! Plus, there are a range of difficulties for each exercise so all the skinny minnies…

Well done for getting started - that can be half the battle! A couple of tips which help me are... - focus on healthy habits rather than the dreaded scale. I've set myself a challenge where for every 10 days I hit my net calories, I can have a treat. For me, a treat is a glossy magazine or book since I'm trying to save the…

Hello all, My real name is Sarah and I'm a 32 year old science geek living in Gateshead, UK. I've been fighting with the scales for years and can get seriously preoccupied with whatever number it decides to spit out! I'm also a carb junkie with a possibly unnaturally large appetite...luckily I enjoy running or I might…
"Creating Heat" doesn't burn fat....a caloric deficit does. Otherwise I'd just aim my hair dryer at any fat I want gone.....
Superb! :laugh::laugh: :laugh:

Bit apprehensive but fancy a new challenge between half marathons. Sign me up!

I finished my run today, even though I felt like cr@p and wanted to give up several times! Even if I'm physically struggling, it's nice to know that I'm mentally strong enough to do it.

If you're getting into running, then glute-strengthening exercises are a must - squats will become your friend! I also try to do core (I.e. belly) work in the form of Pilates or gym ball exercises. Zest magazine often has good home exercise ideas. Had no idea 30day shred was on YouTube-was about to buy it, thanks!

Agreed. Have a lovely day. The sun is shining here which makes a nice change after all the snow!

Veggie dishes often work out cheaper, especially those based around tinned beans or chick peas. I lived off veggie chilli and curry as a student! Also, do you have a slow cooker? If so, casseroles can be done with cheaper cuts of meat and still be really nice. Or just cook them in the oven for several hours.

Was never a fan of Frank Turner till I saw him live, but he was fantastic.

Does he have to go out running? If he's fast at basketball and enjoys it, maybe practicing that sport more often will improve his fitness and speed. Otherwise, I have heard about a smartphone app called zombie run, where the aim is to run away from zombies...might make it a bit more interesting?

It's either Mambo no. 5 (Lou Bega) or Doctor Jones (Aqua)...

Break it up into chunks, and reward yourself for each chunk lost. E.g. for each 10 lb lost, treat yourself to a massage. After dropping a couple of dress sizes, get some new clothes. Also, find non-food ways of dealing with things. Maybe exercise, a trashy magazine, a mindless action movie... Painting your nails can be…

I sometimes get men's running t-shirts as they're looser fitting. I stick to tighter leggings since the baggy ones drive me crackers when I run!

yep, I'm in...I always feel the need to 'check how I'm doing', daily. Although, I only log my weight once a week, it would be nice to break the habit of get up-weigh-take PJs off-weigh-go to the loo-weigh-move scales-weigh-move scales back-weigh-go for a run-weigh-shower-weigh......!!

On the plus side, if it's getting warmer, then you might find it easier to get outside walking for exercise. Plus you might find you prefer lighter foods.
-
Well done! That must feel fantastic!
-
Hey, I'm in a similar position...Will add you. :-)

Can relate to spending years battling the weight! As much as you want to make your family proud, make sure you're doing this for yourself. Good luck!
