  • Do you have any outlet shopping centres nearby? They often have end of line/samples which are reasonable. Not sure about Aus but in the UK I can get New Balance, Nike, Adidas and Reebok cheaper than in the usual shops. Sports Direct are another favourite but it sounds like shipping is no good where you are! Also, do you…
  • Glass of milk or chocolate milkshake before shower; then lunch/dinner afterwards. Or instant porridge if I've run to work. I try not to eat too differently but I tend to be ravenous after running!
  • Put on 3lb this week from eating rubbish and not working out enough... However, I still got my (lardier?) backside out for a run this morning and while aiming for 6-7 miles, did more than 8!
  • Got myself back on the wagon with an 8 mile run this morning...evil 3lb, you will be GONE by the end of this week!! Hope everyone else has a great week :flowerforyou: Am aware that the above 2 smileys in succession looks a bit strange....! :embarassed:

  • My scale moved...upwards! Not a huge surprise after a week of eating way too much and not finding the time to get my backside moving!:embarassed: So this week, I am 175.5 (that's an extra 3lb of chinese food and biscuits!) Ah well, bring on the next week....where I will also make more of an effort with the challenge!
  • Well the conference is over,so I can get my diet and exercise routine back back to normal...nothing like long work days and meals out to screw up the calorie count! :grumble: Feel like I could have tried harder to stay on track, but what's done is done so I'll deal with the inevitable weight gain and crack on with a better…
  • Ooh, good idea! I like the quote on my ticker plus this one: "No matter how slow you run, you're lapping everyone on the couch."
  • Bad week, bad bad week! Working 12 hour days, eating on the run, too tired to workout... Will move backside off sofa in 5 mins and do some squats in an attempt to burn off the latest chocolate binge...
  • Afternoon all, just got home from day 1 of a week-long conference at work. In anticipation of a 10 hour days and buffet dangers, I did a 40minute run this morning and will be up early cracking on with some squats tomorrow. And now for an evening of reading through presentations and trying to make sense of European…
  • Happy Saturday all! I'm checking in today at 172.5lb...been around this area for a while and would like to break this plateau. Naughty day with the girls in York today so not off to the best start...chocolate truffles were eaten and prosecco was drunk! :drinker: However, 6mile run tomorrow should sort that out! Look…

  • Hello, I've just joined as I need an extra nudge to keep me going...have a tendency to give up! :embarassed: Is weigh in day tomorrow? Look forward to meeting everyone. :flowerforyou: Sarah x
  • My favourite Achilles stretch is to have my toes on the edge of a step (facing "upstairs") and slowly drop my heels down below the level of the step. It's not one to do too quickly or with too much force, though.
  • not read all the posts, so sorry if this is repetition! There is a group called 'shedding for the wedding' if you want to check those out? I'm getting married in November. weight loss not going to plan, but I'll get there!
  • Insomnia likes to pay me a visit every now and then and I tend to be like a grumpy toddler when I don't get enough sleep! The least little thing can make me burst into tears and I can be quite snappy. On the diet front, I often crave sugary stodgy foods after a bad night's sleep...white toast, biscuits, biscuits,…

  • What I do is set my level to sedentary, then record exercise and generally eat most of the calories back. This way, I have bonus calories on active days, but if I skip a workout, I don't worry about overeating. I also put 0.5lb a week as my weight loss goal since I like to eat a lot! If I stick to it, I tend to lose more…
  • I use that number to motivate me after a day of going drastically over my net calorie goal! :embarassed: Once I've been told I could be 7lb heavier in 5weeks, I tend to be pretty saintly for the rest of the week! Although MFP numbers are not 100% accurate...according to my net goal, I should lose 0.5lb a week, but…
  • There are plenty of mini challenges on these forums, if you have a quick search. Also, YouTube have a huge selection of workout videos. Also, how about searching the groups on here? There might be some challenge groups. Good luck!
  • I often put that kind of thing down as calisthenics, or use a heart rate monitor.
  • 1lb a week is a good, steady weight loss. If your weight loss stalls, or you get homicidal hunger rage (that might be just me...) then re-evaluate. 20% off your TDEE is 1800ish, which doesn' t seem excessive...
  • Could you squeeze in a weekend workout to compensate?
  • Is an OCR a type of race? Log It as running?
  • Thanks for this, it's always good to remember that life is actually pretty good and inhaling that pile of cake will not bring about the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse!
  • I worked in China for 2 months and told my (also British) boss out there "I don't like tofu". He said "You haven't tried all the forms of tofu." So I tried tofu stir fry, tofu and fish stew, compressed tofu, brown tofu, Korean-style tofu and.... I DO NOT LIKE TOFU!! :noway: Try soya beans and quinoa for bumping up…
  • Top wise I tend to get men's wicking fabric t shirts as they're looser fitting and therefore skim over the cake shelf.
  • Hi, I'm 5'4" with a 29 inside leg and I sometimes find shorter length jogging bottoms in M&S. Or, I get running tights and just cope with some bunching around the ankle!
  • Thanks for all the replies, I had a quick look at the competition but nothing seems to compare to Garmin! I'm also considering upgrading to the 210 since it is a happy medium price and functionality-wise between the 110 and the 410...

  • Look up "in place of a roadmap" in these forums...not sure where it is. Really good description of calorie goals, TDEE and all that other stuff!
