Like the others said already, do what helps you eat what you need to be eating to meet your goals for the day. If eating a lighter/no breakfast in the morning doesn't contribute to you overeating later in the day, then don't eat breakfast. I myself just hate going to bed on a full stomach so I eat very light if I end up…

I bought a slice of cheesecake today. Ate half of it. Saved the rest for tomorrow. 300 calories under my calorie goal. Back when I used to throw out bags of chips I bought in anger at myself or frustration because of eating "bad" foods, I definitely wasn't trying to learn how to eat foods I love normally.

There was actually a recent article that popped up on here today, that is spot on. Just keep in mind dealing with binge eating is not an overnight thing. You will slip up. Assume binges will happen - don't make them this horrifying, terrible thing that make you feel like hiding away from the world that allow you to get…

Unless he's showing signs of diabetes, he has no reason to go as strict as no sugar or no carbs. Most doctors are woefully oblivious about nutrition and really have no clue what they're talking about. That's why dieticians are required to go to school for 4 years and learn all about nutrition and are able to get that…

Hey Katie, I know first hand how much feeling guilty about food isn't going to help at all. I let myself get to a life-threatening weight because I did nothing but keep myself wrapped in shame and guilt about my body and anything I ate. When others say log religiously - they say it because it helps with accountability.…

Reading this hurt my brain.

What? I use butter daily. Canola oil is awful and nowhere in the same field as cold-pressed olive oil. Fat doesn't make us fat. Excess calories do.
-
Awesome. Good luck to you! I hope the new meal plan works out!
-
Omg. That's the best thing I've heard today.

Was she a registered dietitian?

If you were being defensive and still making those comments to yourself, you really didn't actually accept yourself, then. That's kind of the whole point. I'm absolutely my own worst enemy. I talk in ways to myself in my own head that I wouldn't dare ever say to another human being. All it did was continue to make me feel…

Seeing it as some kind of punishment definitely wouldn't make me want to do it either, so I don't blame you for feeling how you do. That being said, I don't see it as a punishment. As someone at my weight I've let binge eating really hold me back and get out of control to the point that my health is very much at risk. I…

Man, that sounds delicious. I may have to do that sometime. I've never even thought to use coconut milk that way!
-
Like others are saying, you really want to talk to your doctor. See if you can get a referral to a registered dietician(not a nutritionist) who works with diabetic so you can be told exactly, in detail, what you should be doing. When diabetes comes into the mix, the usual "Everything in moderation" should go out the window…

Like canned coconut milk or the milk-replacement type?

Toast with a 2 egg cheese omelette and guacamole.

Garbonzo bean flour is a thing?! Omg. Now I need it. You're a goddess. Thank you!

This lentil loaf sounds delicious. OP, like everyone said, if you want to lose the fat, you really just have to buckle down and learn to count calories. It's hard but you gotta do it. If it's just a matter of toning up but you're happy at you're current weight, maybe weight lifting?
-
A step up from your doctor, I'd really talk to your OB about this, not your GP. A registered dietician might be helpful, as well, but I'd ask your OB about that and talk to him/her first and foremost.

What djhnd said /exactly./ When I say restriction - I mean anything. Are there certain foods you like to eat normally but you don't because you see them as "unhealthy" or off limits? That's also definitely a form of restriction. I noticed that something that was leading up to a few days of really rollercoaster eating was…

How is feeling shame and guilt over food ever going to help you learn to have a normal relationship /with/ it? Log everything. Don't feel bad about. Even the most fit and healthy people overeat or eat high-caloric foods occasionally, and it's fine. One day of going over your goal is not going to make you gain weight. It's…

Hey there, I'm sorry you're struggling. I know how difficult it can be. I've had a rough week myself but toward the end of it found myself being able to do a few things that I normally wouldn't, that I'm pretty proud of. Out of curiosity, when you say diet, are you just eating whatever you want at a reasonable deficit or…

Out of curiosity, are you actually communicating with doctors about this? Do they know? They should have known as soon as it happened, just so they can keep an eye on your health. Are you currently in therapy for your ED? If it's gotten to this point, you need help, and there's nothing wrong with that, and it will help a…

A registered dietician. Literally anyone can claim to be a nutritionist.
-
Most GPs are woefully ignorant on actual nutrition, and the fact your doctor recommends a 1k calorie diet without telling you to consult a registered dietitian first worries me about this doctor. Doctors typically can receive as little as one hour of nutritional training during medical school. People who are on 1k calorie…

Any sort of chocolate bar can be "low cal" if you just don't eat the whole bar. My regular treat are the salted caramel dark chocolate bars from Trader Joe's. I eat 1/2 a serving whenever I feel the urge, 115 calories and totally satisfying for me.

Are people seriously asking about why people care what others eat on forums designed for a nutrition, healthy, and fitness forum? OP definitely came across hostile but this is a topic that does come up repeatedly in tons of threads.
-
While I agree in moderation of all types of food, making people feel attacked is definitely not going to help anyone realize that moderation is key. I eat all sorts of food, I'm eating at a deficit consistently for the first time in my life because if I really want something, I know I can eat it now. As a result, a lot of…

I'll say for myself, granola and milk would leave me hungry and really unsatisfied. Do you like savory breakfasts? Then eat a savory breakfast! If you're cooking mostly from fresh ingredients, 1800 calories can be /a lot/ of food. I have eggs cooked in butter for breakfast every morning, because a lot of protein in my…

No, as long as you're within healthy range. I have to agree with Laurend224, start lifting. It sounds like you might be unhappy because of being "skinny fat."
