OP - you have great responses here. This quoted one is my favorite. I can add nothing to this except that I bought a fitbit and for me it really helps tracking my activity, which is at this time still limited pretty much to cardio - walking and jogging, and is also helping my determination to reach goals.

Went to a conference this week. My days were full, as were the evenings with vendor sponsored dinners. I made the time to exercise late at night each day. I have never done that before.

I just make it a habit to weigh in daily at home. I like to see the overall trend and I don't freak out over the numbers. I don;t have to remember to weigh in on some schedule. If I an out of town I just don;t weigh that day.
