  • Well things are going better for me now. I lost the 12 I gained. I am not quite ready for any specific diet. I just keep exercising and changed a few things. Seems to be working. I started forcing myself to eat breakfast, and that has seemed to help a lot with not eating so much at night. I have been eating around…
  • For my first 2 weeks, I put the scale away because I gained 12lbs. I couldn't stop myself and pulled it out this morning and lost the much again. I think my body just went into shock, and is regaining balance now. I think we need to basically cut the cord with the scale. If we exercise most days of the week and at least be…
  • Well, I am not sure I have a specific plan. I just want to make sure that I am refueling well, but being confident that the food I am eating isn't adding on this extra weight. Now gained a total of 12lbs despite so few calories.
  • An alternative is start a new gym and do what I do (but pretending). Being deaf, people try to talk to me all the time. Even when I realize that someone is talking to me at the gym, I don't acknowledge it. People quickly stop trying and then I can be left to my workout. Exercise is a very personal time for me. I don't want…
  • If you live close to me, I would be happy to come and make it clear that he should leave you alone.
  • I would do one or both of two things. Talk to the manager at the gym about it explaining that you don't feel safe etc. Second bring a friend or partner to the gym at least a few times. He will be less likely to approach you if he is outnumbered regardless of the stature of the 2 of you.
  • I have been fit yes, right now in a bit of an interim period, but getting back there. Its tough when our jobs are sitting all day analyzing data. I am at a computer screen 10 hours a day at least
  • My face pics over the 10 weeks I have been on here. Beginning, middle, and present. Oh also forgot to mention that I used jefit app on my phone to track my exercise rather than here (strength training exercise that is)
  • You are welcome to friend me to look at my diary. A lot of it is that I have not really seen anyone this summer. I go to work and I come home. This means no temptation and lots of time to exercise. Hmm what else have I done? I have tried to keep my eating to about 1300-1400 calories a day regardless of how much I exercise.…
  • Hi I am Steve. I became profoundly deaf bilaterally 8 years ago. I just finished my graduate degree at NTID and start my PhD at Syracuse University next week. I am over the hump in my weightloss goals, and gearing up for the final 10 lbs. I enjoy lifting and used to compete years ago.
  • I don't run, because I really don't like it. Sometimes I go on the treadmill, but tend more towards the elliptical, but either of those, I turn on netflix on my phone (droid 3), and it has captions. I watch a 46 minute show of anything that doesn't require much attention like Dr Who, and it keeps me occupied and I never…
  • Welcome! This is a sort of quiet group. Kudos for learning BSL for your children. I wish my parents did.

  • I agree. I tend first of all not to eat all my "earned" calories from exercise, but when I see that there is a lot left over, I tend to go with proteins. Low fat dairy, almonds, fresh turkey etc. If i feel like indulging, I will ONLY buy a junior size something, because I know if I bought a whole candy bar, then I would…
  • I have noticed I eat smaller portions and more often if I only eat one thing at a time. (or one thing an a piece of fruit) So I guess I mean that I eat 6 snacks a day. For me its a mental thing. a "meal" means eat a lot in my head. Now I just try to eat when I am hungry or if I have gone more than 4 hours without…
  • I joined just a few days ago, but seems quiet
