  • congratulations on the 10-12km! I can barely do 5km without wanting to die. lol. That said, are you doing any weight training at all? Adding weight lifting into your regimen can do a great deal toward helping you burn calories faster (ergo, lose more weight) AND will help strengthen your body which in turn will help you…
  • I harbor some distrust of treadmills, so I guess the question is this: when you are using the pedometer, are you walking outside on a road? I was road running 3 miles every other day up until November of last year when I took it inside to the treadmill for the winter months. While inside, I continued to run at the same…
  • tee hee. I don't notice the endorphins until about 20 minutes AFTER I am finished running and I am doing my cool down walk...and I'm not entirely sure if it's the endorphins that have kicked in or if I'm just so bloody grateful that the running is done for another day that I feel like celebrating. I really do not enjoy…
  • great thread. Thanks for posting. I have been wondering for some time how the vitamin levels were determined in MFP and how I could change them-- especially since I always am deficient in iron--yet when I take a supplement, I go WAY over the limit in MFP. Now I can modify my settings! :)
  • Congratulations!!! I ran my first 5K 2 months ago and omg...I was so tickled that I did it that I couldn't sit still for the rest of the day! :)
  • congratulations! You look easily 10 years younger in the "after" pics. Keep up the good work! :)
  • Those Omega 3's did it for me! I am a HUGE fan of those. Be warned however, that most medical studies on Omega 3's found that they can be beneficial for straight depression, however, NOT for depression that is also accompanied by anxiety.
  • Very interesting thread and so great to see I'm not alone! There were numerous reasons, many of which have been mentioned by others....the first being pregnancy as the excuse to eat whatever I wanted for nine months. Ugh. I gained 50 pounds each time I was pregnant. Baby #1 was a very slow lose; baby #2 seemed to be all…
  • a rest day is very important because your muscles will strengthen and become stronger as a result of taking that day off. I gotta be honest. I find it totally hard to take rest days from exercise even though I know they are important to have. I dunno. Exercise makes me feel fantastic and I get itchy and bored sitting…
  • for the cake: omit the oil and substitute an equal amount of unsweetened applesauce
  • My issue is the refined sugar. I love fruit and eat a lot of it and I think that's ok--but cutting out the sugar that comes hidden in processed foods or more blatantly, in a bowl of ice cream was hellishly hard. For me, it had to be "cold turkey." I craved it for about 7 days and then boom. Cravings gone. And if I ate it…
  • I just ran my very first 5km race today. Believe me. You CAN do this! I have never been a runner on my life. Always kinda loathed it, actually. I'm much happier walking. BUT- I wanted to be able to say I could do it. Even just once. I've been training myself since the beginning of June. It was horrible at first. I could…
  • loved your story! Congratulations on your triathlon!
  • I don't have a recipe (sorry) but in order to reduce the calories and fat in any baking at my house, I do one (or more) of the following tricks: 1. Cut the amount of oil in half and substitute a fruit puree for the other half. Eg- unsweetened applesauce, mashed bananas etc. In most recipes I've made, I've been able to sub…
  • bumpity bump bump
  • haha. I'm the opposite! If I work out at night I am wired for sound and cannot sleep to save my life! :) OP- Work out when it fits your schedule and when it feels best for you. Everyone is different; you just need to find the groove that works for you!
