I'm Alice and I've lost 60 pounds or 27 kilos. I started at 107 kg or 235 lbs. Every pound lost was a struggle! I'd love to lose another 20 pounds by Xmas and this group is fantastic! My workouts are awesome - I work out 6+ times a week: Lifting weights, running and a bit of hiking at the weekends too. But my eating hasn't…

Thanks jemhh :) Yeah it can be hard to get it to all add up with fiber, fat, carbs etc - like doing a jigsaw puzzle! How long have you been IIFYMing? Have you had good results?

Thanks for sharing :) I'm really interested in reading New Rules For Women but it'll take me a little while to get through it and I'm paying for my gym membership now.
-
Thanks for all the tips guys! I might check out Rules of Lifting for Women, have heard good things about it

Yup. Working out makes me feel like a badass.

A girl at work who weighs 110lbs~ said "I wish I was as healthy as you". It puts things into perspective!
-
Seeing a horrifying number on the scales and realising that if I don't do something about my weight now, I'd just keep gaining. I cried like a baby and then booked an appointment with a nutritionist.

About 12 months.

You don't eat crap chocolate, then you eat Nutella ice cream?

I get wraps or 6 inch subs quite often. I usually get beef, tuna or chicken with old English cheese, all the veggies and no dressing. Comes in around 320-350 calories. I used to get ham but I'm only eating cage-free pork nowadays. Would prefer to get no meat in my subs and add my own as their meats are processed, full of…

Make your rest day a day when you are working most/super busy. I never plan a rest day on weekends - I'm free those days so I like to do a couple of hours of activity if I can. x

I lost 25 for mine, then some after getting married. You can do it! there's no motivation like a white wedding dress :)

Hi, I'm from Christchurch! I wish Quest Bars were cheaper in NZ :P

Wahoo! Have you started training? Is it your first? This is my first duathlon, but I did a tri a couple of weeks ago.
-
This duathlon is run then bike, rather than run/bike/run. I'm stoked that it's run then bike - I did a triathlon a couple of weeks ago and got the dreaded 'lead legs' even though I trained for that particular transition. Thanks for the hip and glute exercise tip, will check that out :)

Good tip regarding warm-ups. I could definitely improve on this. Hm, perhaps I should be replacing my Body Revolution workouts with a short mid-week run. No, I hadn't thought about adding more protein, I'll talk to my nutritionist about it next time I see her. Another helpful tip, thanks! Good luck with your marathon…

I agree. Plus, if you look pretty lean and buff, I'd listen!

Big old chicken taco salad with ice berg, cucumber, bell pepper, salsa, corn, chicken, topped with a dab of Greek yoghurt (instead of sour cream) and maybe a side of Mexican salad if my calories allow it. Yum!

Probably running 10k after doing the C210k program. Also, when I went shopping in December and bought clothes in size 10 and 12 (not sure what that is in US sizes, I'm talking Australia/NZ sizing)

Ive got an open diary! I never worry about what people think about my logging - my honest tracking is important. Feel free to add me.
-
I had a Big Al at Fergburger last time we were in Queenstown. Can't remember what I logged but I wouldn't be surprised if it was 1200-1500 calories. A tofu burger might be less... I'd just pick up from where I started and forget trying to log it, but I'm not the world's best logger. Walk up the steep hill that most people…

Can I ask, where are your friends now? The ones that seemed to give up on you and didn't believe you were really sick? Any reconciliations?
-
Amazing story. It made me cringe, bought a tear to my eye and made me happy when I saw your after photos. Far out, you really changed your life. Stay healthy! xxx

What makes you think you have stuffed up your metabolism? Well done on getting 10 pounds from your goal! I hope you get some helpful answers. x
-
I'm similar to you: I set my calorie goal at 1200 and I burn around 400 calories or more on average per day. I don't eat back my exercise calories so I average a net of 800 per day. I lose less than 1 pound a week on average. My net calories is very low for some people (and trust me, I'd eat more if I could!) but it seems…

I read on RunnersWorld.com that for every mile you run each week, you need an extra minute of sleep every night. So if you run 20 miles a week, you need an extra 20 minutes of sleep every night of the week. I wish I could sleep as much as you. I struggle to sleep more than 6 hours. I can't help but wonder if I'd lose more…

Gah, that's so lame! I really wanted to thank everyone who offered me some advice. Bummer :(

A cheat day can undo a week of deficients. Go for a cheat meal every couple of weeks. Have a couple of courses and a glass of wine/beer and track your calories. My best cheats are when my husband and I go for a big hike in the hills for 3 hours or so, then eat back every single calorie + my usual dinner calories. It still…
