  • Try this food blog, it is fabulous! http://www.skinnytaste.com/ Try the stuffed pork tenderloin recipes or the Turkey Stuffed Peppers... my husband's favorites.
  • Eggplant Lasagna, with portabellos and spinach and other yummy stuff. My husband's special request, otherwise I usually make it in the winter!
  • Hi Queenie: I've been doing 1200 calories for almost 7 months now. I've lost an average of 1.25# per week, but I am also semi-sedentary due to a back injury. I think it is best to lose between 1 - 1.5# a week, as losing the weight a bit slower helps your skin to keep up with your weight loss (we older folk's skin doesn't…
  • Funny you should ask.... MFP has a new Registered Dietician in their staff, and she made her first Blog Post this morning. "Eat Smarter Using Your Hunger Cues" can be found here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mike/view/eat-smarter-using-your-hunger-cues-553166 I also agree with an earlier poster who said it can be a…
  • I'm fond of the newer Smart & Delicious™ Light Flour Tortillas by La Tortilla Factory. 80 calories, 16 Carb, 6gr Fiber, 4gr Protein. They are not the enormous wrap-size tortillas; probably more of an 8 inch size. Very soft and taste like a regular tortilla, nothing weird. The only problem is they are hard to find and…
  • I recommend that you re-post this question on the Fitbit Users Group board... I'll be you get more responses. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1290-fitbit-users I started to give you my opinion but, since I am twice your age and fairly sedentary due to back problems, it probably wouldn't be much help. I will say…
  • Thanks for the post! I haven't tried this yet and I should, since there are a lot of Subways where I live. I do buy their 6" sub with no cheese and no sauce, and then tear off each end of the bread so that I'm probably eating about 4" worth. Love all the fresh crunchy veggies they have available!
  • Eep, sorry. Does this work? (I just learned how to do this!)

  • No SweetFrog in my part of the country... but it does look good! I have a FroYo place nearby that serves a frozen yogurt called "Sweet 8"; which is only 8 calories per ounce... so a 4oz serving is only 32 calories. So, naturally, I have to get 6 ounces! My place is self-serve, so you can have several flavors in…
  • Bump for later, but I've got to try those Baked Apples!
  • If you don't get an answer, you might re-post it on the "Fitbit Users" GROUP board... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1290-fitbit-users I've only had my Fitbit for 2 days, so I'm no help!
  • There are usually 3 grades of ground turkey - 85% lean, 93% lean, and 99% lean. The 85% lean is filled with ground turkey skin (fatty!) and can be worse than ground beef. The 99% lean turkey breast can be very very dry if you cook it plain, so if you're going for a turkey burger, I would use the 93% lean variety. My…
  • Although I'm not crazy about the original "Swiss" flavor Laughing Cow wedges, the Garlic and Herb ones are yummy, especially when melted on a spinach and mushroom omelette...

  • In addition to salmon, tilapia and cod are mild-tasting (and relatively inexpensive!). I often make cod fillets by just brushing the tops with a low-cal mayo/dijon mustard combination, then sprinkle on panko crumbs mixed with lemon pepper Mrs. Dash. Bake at 400 degrees until the fish flakes (10-20 minutes, depending on the…

  • Hi there... Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I think you need some other guys to answer your questions, but it sure doesn't look like you're getting enough calories for an active young man. I'm a sedentary old lady and you're not eating much more than I do. A few more veggies and fruits would be good for ya!…
  • Crunchy sweet red pepper strips.... love 'em...but only when they are 3 for $1 at Sprouts Market.
  • You're absolutely right, you have to be careful of portion sizes, especially if the yogurt shop dishes it out... Our frozen yogurt place is "serve yourself", so I'm able to get 4 ounces (1/2 cup) for 32 calories (as per the nutrition label link in the original post) and my husband (who is diabetic) can get a lot more!…
  • I try to have snacks with protein or fiber of some kind: Hard boiled egg, or Deviled egg (with FF greek yogurt/grainy mustard/horseradish) String Cheese or Mini Babybel Light cheese Dry Roasted Edamame with Wasabi (14grams soy protein per serving) Celery sticks stuffed with Laughing Cow cheese wedge or Fat Free cream…

  • This website lists calorie counts for all types of Sushi: http://www.sushifaq.com/sushi-health/calories-in-sushi/ I just used it, because I bought some takeout nigiri for lunch today; They made it with brown rice at my request (yay!) I notice they also list calories for the sushi sold at Whole Foods market. Dunno if it's…

  • Yet another BUMP! Great ideas...
  • I am so making this for lunch! It sounds wonderful... I found the recipe, if anyone else is interested: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=400505
  • sliced baby beets chopped oranges or tangerines crumbled goat cheese, especially the one with herbs and garlic slivered almonds and the old mainstays... tomato, red onion, cucumber The more colors, the better it tastes!
  • Thanks, very eye-opening. Good for Subway, by the way!
  • Thanks, I think even I can do these! :flowerforyou:
  • It was about ten (10) 1/2-cup servings. It actually made 5 big crustless servings for me and 6 tart-sized cheesecakes for DH.
  • I really enjoy this Asian Turkey Burger recipe. 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey, 93% lean 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 scallions, finely chopped 3 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon minced ginger 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes I always add extra ginger,…
  • Thanks... you're absolutely right, everyone must take any Article (even by the CDC) with a 'grain of salt' (pun intended)... and factor in their own specific health issues. My DH has high BP, so we've cut down on salt a lot over the past years...and find that most food in restaurants is soooo salty we can barely choke it…
  • Update: Corvina Sea Bass is very similar in taste and texture to Mahi Mahi. Not my favorite, so I will add it to the "tried it once" category, and go back to lurking at the seafood counter. Once I win the Lottol, I will buy a lovely Swordfish Steak instead.
  • ^^^^ Oh, Yes! Polyester is not only unflattering, but HOT! And now they put "spandex" into everything made of cotton, which ruins it too. I can't wait to be able to buy regular Misses tops made out of fabrics that breathe... I've never been into Goodwill to look at clothes, although I've given them plenty of things, so…
  • Thanks! I'm hoping that it will also work well without any added fat, as we try to keep our fat % way down (DH has had sextuple bypass). I've been making cod with a light smear of low-fat garlic mayo on top, with light panko/herb/lemon zest crumbs on top... it comes out great... but not sure what the texture of this fish…
