  • Ha! Weighed in at 95kg both today and yesterday! It’s so funny, that literally means that I got to 95kg for 1 aug which was my target but that I thought was impossible since the scales weren’t moving despite my best efforts. Then suddenly Whoosh and 3 kg are gone. Onto 92 kg - hoping to get there by 1 sep latest.
  • I’ll often double up, but one of my workouts is yoga. Granted, it’s ashtanga yoga and pretty sweaty stuff but it’s very different from running or playing padel. For cross training from CrossFit I’d probably do bicycling rather than running since it’s lower impact (but having never done CrossFit my idea of what’s involved…
  • Great job logging even if your day didn’t go as planned! Please be kind to yourself. I find setting smaller action based goals can be good when I’m struggling. That way my goal will be easily in my control (did I log or not) instead of something that has more variables (did I lose 1 kg). So for example your goal might be…
  • I have a pair of non stretchy shorts with a pockets and a drawstring. Last year the pockets were a bit stretched whenever I wore them, since it was a super tight fit. Yesterday I realised that I will soon have to retire them - the drawstring can’t be tightened much more due to the excessive bunching of fabric!!
  • Way to go taking care of yourself! Hope you will get on with your braces as best possible, I understand it can be challenging so all the more impressive that you’re giving yourself the gift of dental care.
  • I scouted a new running loop, finally figured out how to get to the lake. Gave me a nice walk today on my rest day and might just do my run there tomorrow. It’s been irking me that I hadn’t gotten around to figuring it out since I moved here in November.
  • Current mini goal is to reach 95kg, right now I’m 98.5 but it has just been SO SLOW these last 3 months. I reached 100kg mid April and have just been oscillating slowly since. Originally my next mini goal after going under 100kg was going to be 92kg since that will make my BMI overweight instead of obese but I guess that…
  • I’ve cycled through the various YWA 30 day series this year. I find her a bit chatty and many of the videos are a bit too relaxed for me although there are some gems especially in the 30 day yoga journey. Right now I’m trying to recommit to my ashtanga practice, it’s such hard work to get started but I know I love it once…
  • A lot of people end up feeling better when they reduce meat because it pushes them to improve the quality of the meals they eat, like getting more servings of a wider variety of vegetables. I have been primarily plant based for 3 years. In the past I might have grilled chicken, mashed potato and some corn/peas for dinner.…
  • Ran my first 10K since returning to running in April after a 6 year hiatus 😊 07:53 min/km, I’m pleased.
  • Wonderful! Keep up the good work!
  • I was catching up wit me sister in law at a family event today. She asked how I had been spending my time while furloughed and I mentioned I’d taken up running. She said “it shows and it looks really good” 😊 I also sat in a classic canvas-and-wood beach chair (you know, the flimsy looking ones with long piece of fabric in…
  • I second the suggestion of soup! During fall winter I eat homemade soup for dinner almost every day. My favourite is Thai butternut squash which is easy to cook, low kcal and crazy full of vitamins. The immersion blender is my best friend since I don’t really like bits in my soup. On the other hand I love a topping like…
  • I very rarely eat out, I always bring a packed lunch to work when we’re not WFH and will only go out for a meal for special occasions. Like others have said I tend to bulk cook. I don’t meal prep a whole week but any recipe I make I always do the full 4-5 servings and eat for the next few days. For food I’m reheating in my…
  • Improved on my 5K pace, 7:07 min/km on Sunday. Yesterday I did 7K at 7:30 min/km, I’m really finding my stride. Planning to brave the 10K loop in the next week or two. I’ve been focusing on heart rate and steps per minute which allows me to make speed gains without feeling like I’m fighting against the clock.
  • Lockdown has been pretty good to me. Weight loss stalled for a bit but I’m now down 9 kg from 1 March (from 107kg to 98kg). More importantly I have worked on my fitness. - I started C25K in April and now regularly run up to 7km three times per week. - I managed to more strongly commit to daily yoga during WFH - I have…
  • Don’t get frustrated :) adding positive habits like doing a bit more walking and cutting back on soda is good for you so give yourself a pat on the back even if you didn’t lose any weight yet Have you set up your profile on MFP so you get a kcal goal per day? Have you been weighing all your food and adding the appropriate…
  • I ran 5K at a pace of 7:36 min/km today, previous avg has been just over 8 min/km although to be fair this was a flatter route than normal. One of those kilometres was even sub 7 minutes. Maybe not fast in the grand scheme of things but a vast improvement for me!
  • I’ve relocated for the summer and have some new running trails to enjoy. I did 7K yesterday, my previous longest run has been just shy of 5K since restarting C25K in January. And I found my old Tomtom watch (last run registered in 2014...) which informed me that the 7K was at an avg pace of 8min/km - the same pace I’ve had…
  • So I’ve been unable to break through the 100kg barrier since mid April but I’ve now found a good groove again and have gone to visit family for a month. My goal is to be 96kg by the end of July nad I think I’ve put good strategies in place to achieve it.
  • What about exercise is it that you don’t enjoy? Some examples that have all applied to me in the past are: - uncomfortable to get sweaty/embarrassed that I sweat more than everyone else if in public - The changing room/showering situation is uncomfortable for some reason - Chafing or pain from participating in exercise -…
  • I’m with you - unripe fruit is the worst. I’ve gotten to be quite obsessed with this and spend quite a it of time rotating produce between fridge and counter, smelling and gently squeezing before eating to minimise such scenarios 😂
  • Sorry to hear that you’re struggling but cudos for being here and owning it! You can turn it around! This spring has been stressful for a lot of people. Personally I have been able to capitalise on extra free time to take up running since I live in an area that never restricted outdoor movement. However it has been tough…
  • It happens on occasion. No biggie, I just decide that it’s not a recipe that merits a place in my regular rotation. It can be a bit frustrating though, if it’s something I turn out to really not like. I live alone but always cooks a full recipe (4-5 servings since I stretch serving size) and I’m also strongly opposed to…
  • I’ve done another closet dive and found a summer shirt that now fits! Last time I tried it on I remember there being at least a 10cm gap - today it did up easily.
  • You can do this. My ultimate goal is also 75 kg, I’m 176 cm tall so that puts my in the healthy BMI. If it helps I weighed in at 135 kg last July and I’ve been hovering around 101kg for the last 2 months. Mo It can be quite discouraging, with a lot to lose I don’t get to downsize in clothing very quickly for example.…
  • After 2 weeks off I went for my w9 C25K run the other day. 5 minutes in my Bluetooth headphones signal low battery. Now I have always been a Mandatory Music Runner in the past but it was a lovely day and I knew if I went back to charge them I probably wouldn’t get my run in. So I turned them off and jogged the full loop…
  • I routinely stretch recipes that say they’re for 4 people to last me 5 or sometimes even 6 meals. They definitely serve 4 generously in my neck of the woods. I portion it all out into meal size glass containers (600ml if I recall correctly) so I just divide it out in as many as seem reasonable and go from there.
  • I’ve met up with 2 colleagues this week that I haven’t seen in person since we started WFH on March 19. They both exclaimed how slim I looked (I’m still 100kg though :D ) I’ve only had a 3 kg net loss in those months going up and down a lot but I’m sure they see the difference because I’ve continuously lost weight since…
  • 10 minutes into my run today I tripped on a gravel road and got up with an impressively bloody calf and hands. Did a quick check and decided it was superficial road rash and that I felt fine to complete my run (another 20 min) even though I was on a part of the loop where I could have walks home in a couple of minutes. Got…
