  • It's really not as hard as you think. You can do this! So excited for you!!
  • I am 3.5 years out and will say April731 is right on track. At your stage I was eating 6 small meals a day. I could not get my protein in otherwise. Use the shakes and bars as snacks if you must to get your protein in and make sure to get all your water. Isopure Zero is a flavored water with protein. 1/2 bottle in the…
  • Did this 2 weeks ago. Packed the cooler with lunch and snacks that followed my plan. Breakfast was a protein shake one morning, second morning a protein bar. I also packed a box with things that didn't need to be in the cooler like popcorn and my sugar free coffee creamer so even at Starbucks I could get regular coffee and…
  • Good read! You have done amazing my friend! Congratulations on all your success! You are an inspiration.
  • I also drink coffee with creamer or protein powder as the creamer (my tummy no longer likes it plain). I know coffee isn't making me hungry as I could drink coffee all day and never eat. I have found if I don't limit my coffee I will not get in my water. You hair loss is normal and caused by a few factors, but not getting…
  • Congratulations!!!
  • Don't stock up because frankly your tastes may change. I really had a hard time getting any kind of shake down after surgery. I did much better with Unjury chicken and beef broth as well as Isopure Zero flavored protein water. The shakes were way too sweet and thick for me for the first few weeks.
  • I think there's probably a couple of reasone. One people stop because they get burned out on the weighing, measuring, logging and endless thinking/talking about food, excercise, etc. Two is that they get complacent, the weight's off, they can relax. Truth is it is hard to maintain the lifestyle to maintain the weight loss.…
  • Huge change. I would not have thought that was the same person at all! Congratulations!!
  • I was out for two full weeks. I could have gone back after one but it was recommended that I take it all so that I was fully comfortable with the food and drink requirements before I added my job back in. I had a friend who had the lap band and he went back a week early and really struggled with incorporating the food and…
  • I did not. I knew going in that for me personally, the only way to be successful at this was to accept that there are certain foods I cannot control myself with. They are my trigger foods. So I decided I will no longer eat those few things and I don't. For instance, I havn't had ice cream in 4 years and do not plan on…
  • Happy surgiversary!
  • I had the sleeve and have had refulux for decades. There area couple of things you can try immediately to help. One, do not eat within an hour or two before you go to bed. My normal bedtime is 10 so I do not eat past 8. Any later and I will wake in the middle of the night just like you. The other thing is try taking your…
  • Hey kiddo, I have been like this a lot lately as you know. Mine is stress related. I'm stressed so I don't want to eat. After one day of not eating for over 24 hours, I have been forcing myself to eat my normal meals. To go too many days under or severley under calories is just as bad for us as going over consistently. So…
  • Wow you are so little! You look amazing! Congratulations!!
  • It's probably the artifical sweetner, you did say chemicals like aspartame do it. So I would think whatever artifical sweetner in the shake, even if it's not caller aspartame, is probably the problem. If you haven't tried the Syntrax Nectar ones, go online and order a sample pack. Much cheaper that way to try flavors and…
  • I had the sleeve and the only time I get this is when I've eaten past my full cue. Find what your full cue is and respect that and you won't have the issue anymore. My full cue is the feeling like I need to burp. Even if I really do need to burp and do, I'm still done eating at that point. Anything I eat after that will…
  • My doctor said no carbonation because it expands in the stomach so for bypass patients can restretch and for those with the sleeve, since there's nothing to stretch, it can be painfull and if you have it before you are healed can cause major leak issues. That said, I'm sleeved and the only flavored water I drink is…
  • I am 3.5 years out and because of a stall that's been going on since September I finally upped my calories to 1,200. Still stalled and struggling most days to get 1,200.
  • Garber6, Hugs and prayers coming your way! I am in awe that you are so strong! To be going through all that and the only thing being hurt is the Elipticle? Girl that's awesome strength and restraint! As for the guy? Honey he sounds like one of those guys looking for a real live Barbie doll, perfect body and an empty head.…
  • You look awesome, head to toe! Happy anniversary and here's to decades more!!
  • I agree with most of the posters above. I am a big coffee drinker, but I have to honestly say that if I don't limit it, I won't get my water in. And when my water is low, I've found my energy is also low. So water, protein, B12 and Iron. Unless you have an over abundance of Iron, a small suppliment won't hurt you at all…
  • Pre sleeve, when in those difficult times I would eat everything in site. I always got the "who cares, the weight's not coming off anyway, might as well eat what I want" attitude. Post sleeve I've found the opposite is true for me. When those difficult times hit my attitude is the total opposite and I tend to way under…
  • That's fantastic and must feel so good! Good going there my friend!

  • I guess at 3.5 years out I count as a veteran? And to answer your question, yes I get tired of it all sometimes. Usually when I'm stalled and frustrated. And I believe I'm one of those people who will always need to plan my meals for the day, weigh, measure and log. I've found that if I don't, I get off track too easy. As…
  • I had the same issue after I had lost about 75 pounds. I needed to reduce the BP meds. Then after another 50 pounds off I had to stop taking them altogether. Talk to your doctor, you might need a med adjustment.
  • And this is why it's called a journey. Turns and twists and everything in between, and we just keep going. You have done an amazing job! So proud of you my friend! You are a great inspiration! PS-as Rob and Asia alluded to, normal is a relative term! Sorry couldn't resist! :D
  • I traveled for the first time post VSG at about 3 months out. It was made easier by the fact that we were staying with our son and his family, but we did eat out a lot. Fast food for me had to be Wendy's for the small chili. Other than that, it was regular restaurants and I would get something one of the guys would finish…
  • That's fantastic! What a wonderful fun way to think of the loss and that's a great picture!!
  • I got like that over the holiday and regained 10 pounds. You are still losing and that's great, but it's not always going to be this easy. I can tell you from experience, the farther out from surgery you get, the harder it is to lose. How to get motivated again? There are some good ideas here. Decision time my friend. You…
