  • You look awesome! And I love the new hairstyle!!!!
  • Sounds like he's super happy for you. Maybe he had his doubts and is masking that. It will probably wane a bit as you go and he gets used to seeing you smaller. Rscpjim, I won't say I got more work opportunities as I got smaller or been taken more seriously, but I have noticed that people are more friendly with a smaller…
  • I want you all to know how much I appreciate you and your support! Yesterday I tried out a recumbent bike. I've kicked the idea around for a long time but just kept putting it off because of my aversion to exercise. Imagine my surprise to find out how much fun riding this bike was! I rode for 10 minutes, but really felt…
  • That's great!!!
  • I thinned a lot in front too and it took months before my hairdresser saw some regrowth. I don't know if it will ever all come back, it is thinner than before but better than at it's worst and I am 3.5 years out. What helped a lot was biotin. I take double the dose. I've heard good things about a product called Hair, Skin…
  • At my biggest I felt invisable a lot of the time. Once I got below 300, probably closer to 250, people started talking to me more, people I didn't know. Folks in the elevators, the construction crew at the building where I work, etc. And then my sister pointed out that as the weight came off I became more approachable. It…
  • That's a great technique! If it's not real hunger, just head hunger, that would sure solve it! Thanks Rob!
  • Lori, I make sure when socializing with family and friends that I bring food too. It helps me be able to stay on track better. There's always something there I can have and when you add what I bring, I can socially eat with everyone else. When in a business situation where I can't bring food, I tend to eat before I go then…
  • Thanks Jess! I'm humbled by your words! I think I knew before I even posted that I would hear I needed to up the exercise and maybe the calories. I just wanted the input from everyone here because someday I will stop losing and I don't want to be one of those people who continue to beat their head against the wall to…
  • That's awesome! Congratulations!
  • I am 3.5 years out and have had the occasional vodka shot or glass of wine and even a little beer (the carbonation got to me so I didn't drink the whole thing). I have found that no matter what it is, it goes to my head very quickly. The issue as I see it, is the timing. We don't drink with meals, so going out to dinner…
  • I've seen this thread before. It's a logical question, but as all of us who had WLS know, the surgery changes so many more things than just the size of the stomach. What we do is a lifestyle change and one that I can not imagin anyone would be able to maintain without the surgery.
  • Tastes change. I was always more of a savory person and the shakes we had to live on at first were very hard for me to get down. I did much better on the protein infused chicken and beef broth. Pre-surgery my sole exception was my addiction to ice cream. But now, 3.5 years out from surgery, I find myself wanting a little…
  • renovagirl - I am also very sedentary and until the last year or so it hasn't been an issue. Year 2-3 I actually lost 15 pounds and the PA said I was still actively losing. But since I saw her in July I've lost just one pound. And then of course I gained 10 over the holidays. I think this last 30-60 pounds is going to come…
  • Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I am implimenting a lot of what you are suggesting because I am not ready to be done yet and just can't bring myself to accept being above 200 pounds. I can see that my biggest obstacle is my aversion to exercise. Not sure how to motivate myself, but I want to be in…
  • alayjane, Thanks for the input. Those are great ideas. Truth be told, I really just need to get off my butt more and use that wonderful pilates machine I rewarded myself with when I got below 300 pounds. Since it's function is to build and strengthen the core muscles, it goes right along with what you are saying.
  • jrnguyen, I would love to blame my lack of exercise on the arthritis but in all honesty I can't. Since losing 164 pounds, I am pain free 95% of the time. I really have no excuse to not do more. Yes, I do seem to get injuries easily, but truthfully I don't do more because I hate exercise. I would rather while away my free…
  • I am baking the husband his favorite cake. No clue what he has planned.
  • Thank you lenac87 and Randy RN. I had non-contagious hepatitis many years ago and it slightly damaged my liver. Ever since, I have had an elevated white count and was told that the liver damage was why. So I was curious if they were the same.
  • Dale, I haven't talked to the surgeon or anyone on the team. I'm probably avoiding them at this point. Funny how those old habits pop back up, don't talk to the doctor because he's going to tell me I'm not doing enough of this or too much of that. Sigh! OK, another thing I need to make myself do. I too am much healthier…
  • Randy, I walk daily and will fully admit to not being very active beyond that. I do have a pilates machine at home and do not use that as much as I could. Yes I have spinal arthritis and arthritis in every joint from the lower spine down along with bone spurs in my left knee and both heals and I injur easily, but to be…
  • Baking the husband his favorite cake. This is our 42nd Valentine's day together and I know the way to his heart is doing something nice and unexpected like this. Nothing fancy or expensive necessary.
  • 5555price, I was 386 at my highest, 222 now and I too want to get down below 200. Like you I have a lot of excess skin, arms, stomach, thighs. Even my behind is starting to fold over the top of my thighs. I too want it all removed, but am being told the insurance will not cover anything but the stomach and that because I…
  • I too get tired of always having to watch what I eat, count the protein and calories, plan everything. I swear, I think more about food now than I ever did before surgery. But I also know that going back to eating whatever, whenever will put me back in the prison of an obese body. So to me freedom is being a more normal…
  • I'm clueless about these things. Is this the same as having an elevated "white count"?
  • I have damage to my lower spine, arthritis from there down in every joint and bone spurs in both heals. As I started moving more the pain was bad and pretty constant, all from the lower spine down because all I did was walk. As the weight came off, the pain diminished and now I am pain free 95% of the time. So, assuming…
  • You are doing awesome, just awesome!
  • Isopure Zero is a water with protein. I had a hard time with the thick, sweet shakes and used a lot of this in the beginning. The best part is it counts towards both water and protein and with 40 grams per bottle, it's a win-win!
  • Wow I was on protein shakes the day after surgery in the hospital. I couldn't get even one in though, so they made me stay an extra day, but I can't imagine not getting protein. No wonder you are tried and starting to feel hungry. I bet Wednesday can't come soon enough for you!
  • Great update! You are such an inspriation to so many of us and this is part of why you are! Your honesty and willingness to share your struggles with us lets us know we are not alone and not everyone else is just sailing along! Good job getting the therapy and nutritional help you need! With that attitude and…
