  • Sounds like a combination to me, menopause and weight loss. I went through "the change" at 51, just stopped, no mood swings, hot flashes, anything. Had the surgery at age 55 and they told me I could "start" again. Nothing. Yes, talk to your doctor, they can scan for where you are hormone wise. Must say, I do love being on…
  • Yes that was me. I do much, much better if I plan my meals for the day. I take my food to work with me, breakfast, lunch, even a snack (just in case I want something). The only thing I don't preplan is dinner only because I don't usually cook, the husband does. Weekends are a little harder and I tend to undereat. But…
  • You look awesome! Congratulations on your success so far!
  • I am 3.5 years out and applaude your strength! This is not an easy path to walk and we can all use all the help we can get.
  • That's great! You are doing awesome!
  • Belladebut, I have been doing this for 3.5 years now and I am still working towards goal. Yes I started with 226 to lose and I lose slow/stall often, but I do not find this an easy path to walk and that too is part why I am not to goal yet. I too struggle to not go back to old eating habits. My point? Not everyone makes…
  • I'm 3.5 years out and frankly never got my "hunger" back. What I do have is "head hunger", that need to eat, sometimes even if still full from a meal. If I am busy, I still have that "thin person" brain and have to prompt myself or try and remember to eat. Boredom seems to really bring out my head hunger a lot. As you…
  • I understand the embarrassment thing and frankly there are times I don't eat something I want because I don't want my friends to see it. I log everything that goes in my mouth for my own benefit, but having my diary open to my friends helps me stay on track because of the accountability.
  • Once your surgery is done your diet will be high protein, low carbs/fats. Making changes now is a really smart thing to do and by changing to fresh, lean cuts of meat/poultry/fish and vegtables, you are helping your kids to be eating healthier as well. If you add starches (bread, pasta, rice, etc) back into your diet post…
  • I've been stalled since September, again. No inches lost either and even a slight bounce up. I am 3.5 years out from sleeve surgery now and the weight loss is very slow with long periods between losses. Like you tedrapaige, I am just continuing on because I'm just not ready to be done yet. You have a great attitide! No…
  • If I remember correctly I was about 6 months out before I tried lettuce. I'm now 3.5 years out and lettuce still quickly makes me full. Nuts and popcorn were allowed about a year out. I have no issue digesting either but I will tell you that I still have to weigh out or measure out my popcorn. It's one of those foods that…
  • I don't have an issue with the Nectar unless I try adding it to my coffee (3.5 years out now so you have a bit to go before coffee). If adding to hot liquid, I make a paste first (thanks Rob!). At your stage I couldn't stand the shakes, too sweet and too thick. I lived on the Unjury chicken and beef broth. And when I ran…
  • What an awesome change! You look fantastic!
  • At home I use my IPad and I don't see a "Community" button on that app. The only time I can get into the community and groups is if I log into the web site. Am I missing something? If so and you know can you message me because once I get home to the IPad, I won't be able to see the answer in here. Thanks!!
  • The Mexican meal? That was a great way to handle that. Since I don't usually have kids with me (and if I do it's grandkids) I just either order something I know the husband will finish or something I can warm up for another meal. It's rare that I use the card simply because it's usually not an issue.
  • Wow! I really do see that 50 pound drop! (counting from first photo to 1 month post op) Your bust line looks bigger while the torso and behind have really shrunk! And yes, the face is thinner. Awesome results and very visable!
  • Welcom and I agree, listen to Rob (rpyle111) he's been super successful pre and post op!
  • Missie, at first getting in your protein drink and water is difficult. For me, I am more of a savory person, so the protein shakes were too sweet and thick. I did much better with protein infused broth I got from my surgeon's office. I had to stay an extra night in the hospital because I just couldn't drink them and they…
  • I was cooking Christmas Eve after church and picking my grandson up from his Dad and dropping him at his Mom's, so I didn't party the night before either. Christmas day I had coffee but no food until about 1 and then just a little cheese and summer sausage (and I do mean little, about an ounce each). Dinner was at 3 and…
  • When I am asked that question "can you eat this?" my answer is simple. "I CAN eat anything. But no, I don't eat that anymore, I've chosen to not to (or I really don't want any of that today)". For me it's all about being in charge instead of the appetite and food being in charge. Of course this doesn't mean I don't…
  • No Thaeda, I don't think you are being idealistic and there's nothing wrong with that goal if it works for you. I can't speak for anyone but myself and for me taking control of my life and eating means deciding that there are certain things that are now out of my life. My decision, no regrets and I'm good with that. This…
  • As my weight is coming off I am actually finding the old me, the "160 pound, before all the weight gain" me is starting to show again. It doesn't feel foreign, it feels like I'm finally seeing "me" again.
  • Trinity! What a great NSV. They are all great NSVs, but I think we tend to focus on the physical and don't realize that the emotional benefits of losing the weight are just as exciting! itsdreday! I had the same thing happen at a store, twice and then just went to the DMV and said "I need a new picture". At first they were…
  • That's awesome! Recently saw a medical report that listed me as overweight! I was so excited since at my biggest (386) I was morbidly obese and that was the first time I was listed as simply overweight! It's an exciting feeling!
  • OK, I realized I already answered this post and now I can't delete this. Sorry folks.
  • I agree, everyone is different. I had the sleeve. My preop plan was liquids breakfast and lunch with an entree dinner (all food from the surgeon's office) for one week, full liquids the second week and then surgery. Everything was so high protein I really didn't have an issue (which really surprised me). Postop was tough…
  • MissMissie, I had issues pre surgery (sleeve) where I would eat, sleep and shop when emotionally distressed, angry, etc. My attitude was "why not eat it? It's not going to help me lose weight anyway, nothing does!". Post surgery I still want to sleep and shop but for some reason I no longer want to eat. In fact, when upset…
  • What a great Christmas present for yourself! Glad it all went well!
  • You too Lori!!
  • Yeah, me too! I love my Syntrax Nectar, but if the calories and the protein are close, even if it's a little bit more, it's worth it to me because of the convenience of being able to go to GNC to pick it up rather than ordering or going to my doctor's office store.
