  • Permission is a good thing, having the OCCASIONAL treat is fine and as Thaeda said, eating mindefully, but let's not forget things like "trigger foods". Another post on here recently was about Ice Cream and made me think of this post. For me Ice Cream is a trigger food. I haven't had it in about 4 years now and I refuse ti…
  • Didn't know they made a protein powder. Buy it at the same place? Wonder if it's a good as the bars? Hmmmm!
  • That's just bad service! I have never had these kinds of issues even if all I ordered was a bowl of chili and asked it to come when she served his meal. I hope you complained to the manager! I would have!
  • City Chicken (a receipe from my husband's Polish Grandmother), homemade potato salad, veggies (this year corn and brussel sprouts) rolls and a birthday cake.
  • Wait and ask your doctor. I am 3.5 years out and like shoppinglady will eat the protein first and then work on the lettuce. But lettuce really fills me and I stay full feeling for a long time afterwards too.
  • That's fantastic! You are really doing well!
  • My rings were a size 7.5 when I got married, actually a 1/2 size too big because the wedding band is so wide. By the time we were married a year they were too small and in the jewlery box. 15 years later I started college for the first time and the husabnd had them sized up so I went to school with a wedding ring. :) Now…
  • I'm in my late 50's and so far have lost 164 pounds. I'm not to goal yet and I have a lot of loose skin. I expect it will just continue to get worse as I lose more. If I lose it all I will have lost 220 pounds. How could I not have loose skin. Since my upper arms are now folding over my elbows and my thighs are folding…
  • 2BeHappy2, Yes you can eat off another plate in most restaurants and I have from time to time. But it's usually the opposite at our table. I eat what I want from my meal and if the husband is still hungry or "really hungry" he will finish mine! Yes, everything from the salad (I eat about 1/4) to the main entree, if he…
  • You look great! Congratulations!
  • For me Ice Cream is a trigger food. Prior to surgery if it was in the house, I had to eat it until it was gone, could not leave it alone for anything. Surgery was 3.5 years ago and I haven't had ice cream in about 4 years now. This is one thing I will not reintroduce into my life, it's unnecessary to my life and I don't…
  • Had the same issue recently with the husband. He asked what size, I said XL, he went shopping for Christmas and made the point he thought everything would be too small, so he kept the receipt. I wear an XL, I have for a year now, yes things like winter coats need to be bigger for the excess skin on the upper arms, but…
  • To me having WLS is like having my knee repaired 35 years ago so I could continue to walk. WLS is enabling me to continue to live, regain my mobility and be healthy. I have been very open about this and if anyone thinks it's easy and has the poor taste to say that within my hearing, they are told just what it entails and…
  • Good luck to you! VSG is a wonderful tool and I'm excited to watch your journey unfold.
  • I did the same thing, cut them in half and then got off them completely, it's a great feeling! We also have HBP in our family and I worried too that I might be on them forever, but it's not the case. Like you, I am so thankful for the benefits this surgery has given me even if my weight loss isn't where I want it to be. :)
  • I was so ready to chew something when my liquid only time was up. I understand your frustration but it sounds to me like you are doing great and only have a small amount of time left. Hang in there, you will get past this.
  • I have a card from my surgeon that explains I had WLS and asks that I be allowed to order off the kids menu. I've only had to use it a couple of times and one of those was at a buffet. They honored it and charged me the kids price.
  • Awesome! You are doing fantastic!!
  • I use this site for tracking food, exercise and water. Really for everything. It's a great tool.
  • Every doctor's plan is different. My nutritionist said I could count my first cup of regular coffee or first two of decaff every day, but then the only thing I could count as water past that was water. Now she is letting me count my flavored water because it has no calories and no sodium. It is carbonated, so I have to…
  • I was told that most people will regain their hunger by the end of the first year. Most, not all. I am 3.5 years out and I still rarely feel real hunger. My battle is with head hunger and yes, for me, they are completely different things/feelings. Start weight 386 - Lowest weight (so far) 222 - 164 pounds off - height 5'7"…
  • Wow! What a great change! You look amazing! Great job!
  • Living La Vita Loco - sorry don't remember the name of the band. smile:
  • I agree. I believe that if we deny ourselves everything we will eventually fall and binge. I too try and keep it to a bite or two. But I will say, right now I'm struggling with food. Not hunger, the urge to eat and I know it's the disouragement at my weigh bouncing up (I refuse to call it a gain because it's not going to…
  • Thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate you all in so many ways. Pat
  • Yeah, we've had those same "conversations" at our house. I just keep reminding myself that they are rare and that 99% of the time he's my biggest supporter. Bet the percentage is the same at your house too.
  • Oh boy! This is a thread I was supposed to read! Lowest was 222, hit it while on vacation in Sept. Since them I've bounced up and keep going between 224 and 229. I'm discouraged, bewildered and so ready to just quit! And it's the discouragement and frustration because my own personal goal was to get and stay somewhere…
  • I had a couple of weeks preop of only liquids and like you struggled with the too sweet protein shakes. Struggled in the hospital post surgery too. If you like the savory stuff better than stock up on chicken and beef broth. I got mine from my surgeon's office so it was really high protein. But you can get it at the…
  • Momsnewride, I lost less than you to begin with and after my stall at 9 months out, a lot slower than most here. I don't want to discourage you, but I just simply lose slowly and I stall often. But I still lose, so as long as I still lose, it really doesn't matter how fast or slow. Really, anything off is good, you know?
  • Per my doctor I used Miralax in the beginning. To avoid having to take it continually I try and eat salad several times a week and Triscut crackers. Triscuts and Wheet Thins are really high fiber I eat the Hint of Salt ones to avoid retaining water. So when I'm feeling like I need help, I will eat Tricuts or Wheet Thins…
