I'm in my 50's and that's exactly how I feel!

I have a question too. I put lightly active which is exercising 3 times a week (even though I do more). So when they extimate the calories on workout days (Step 3), are they figuring an extra 3 hours of exercise per week or the the hours used to estimate your activity level. I ask this because if I put sedentary there are…

This is a perfect challenge for me since I've been losing a pound a week, but I really need to push it a little harder. 6/26 - SW 244 10/1 - CW 228 10/31 - GW 222 How ? I like calorie cycling and semi fasting a few days a week 2 - 1000 calorie days per week 3 - 1500 calorie days per week 2 - 1800 calorie days per week…

I've lost 16 pounds in 3 months. I still wear the same size 20 jeans but before I had to wash in cold water and line dry, and they were tight, Now I wash in warm water and tumble dry. I've got a size 18 hanging in my closet. 5 more pounds?

There is an Intermittent Fasting group and a JUDD group on MFP.

I'm 56 - I started dieting July 26 and then went to intermittent fasting for a couple days a week. The first month, I lost 2-3 pounds per week. Now I barely lose a pound a week, but it is slow and steady. 16 pounds so far. I keep tweaking my diet to see what works best for me. The last 2 weeks I've been doing alternated…

You will not gain weight; you will just lose weight slower unless you increase your exercise to compensate. I personally like cycling calories: 1 day 1200 the next 1400, back to 1200, etc

Thanks for posting this maddie. This is an excellent video that explains why all people who lose weight will have a slightly lower metabolism: because metabolism is mostly based on how much you weigh.

It usually takes 2-3 days for your body to eliminate what you've eaten.

Congradulations!

I know I am addicted to coffee which I MUST have in the morning and the early afternoon. MFP I am on at least 3 times a day!

Great responses! Thank you, thank you. Even the offal one!

I drink raw (unpasturized - not commercial) sourkrout water. It is filled with natural probiotics; it has practically no calories; however, it is salty.

The headaches are probably due to loss of c affine. Add green tea to take the place of Pepsi.

So how low carb is paleo? I looked at 5 days of your diet - is that typical paleo way of eating? Do you fast regularily? Just curious.

What a nice post JDub. Dieting can be very self-centered. But I know a healthier body will also glorify my Lord!

You look great!

I bought some PGX granules after seeing it on Dr Oz (his gorgeous wife uses it). It's pretty effective: a tasteless fiber that expands in your stomach with no calories. A serving feels like the equivilant of eating 2 pieces of bread.

I recently injured my knees while trying to add some high intensity jogging spurts to my walking. (Note i am probably too old and heavy to be doing this.) I went to a physical therapist, and he has me doing spot training on my upper medium size butt muscle (obviously not the correct anatomical term lol) OK I looked it up…

Small fish like sardines are very healthy with little mercury.

Shelbywees is always a fun diary though! I have to try her favorite food Protein Fluff.

I'm trying JUDD again this week - I'd like to lose another 15#s before winter hits and 1400-1500 calories a day is not going to do it. IThis is a down day - I have had success with 800 calories on down days, so I am aiming for that again. But I am already at 400 for the day and still hungry. Eventhough I purposely did not…

Well personally I'd like to know how to make money by mentioning workout programs or food!

You look good!

I would just like to say that I am personally not following a VLCD. I average about 1400-1500 calories a day to lose weight. Obesity Research Journal calls a 1200 calorie diet "low calorie." My point is according to the research done at ORJ, there is no correlation between calories averaged on a diet and weight loss…

This study form the Obesity Research Journal shows that very low calorie diets (VLCD) are an acceptable form of weight loss. http://www.nature.com/oby/journal/v9/n11s/full/oby2001134a.html "VLCDs have been shown to be very effective in the treatment of obesity. An average weekly weight loss of approximately 2.0 kg in the…

I'd rather have a 1/2 cup of good whole fat raw milk than a gallon of skim milk!

I have read this study. Notice it says "Systematic reviews of low-calorie diets have been unable to come to any firm conclusions about the value of different ways of achieving energy restriction, but one meta-analysis of low-fat diets produced a mean weight loss of 10 kg of weight loss that was greater in those with a…

NOT MUCH - I ONLY HAVE 200 CALORIES LEFT :( Probably the Black Russian heirloom tomato I bought yesterday and some zucchini.
