Don't focus so much right now on exercise. Losing weight is all about taking in less fuel that you use up so that your body will burn the excess. It's about 80% food choices and 20% exercise. For now, just pay attention to your diet! Congratulations on the 7 pounds so far and good luck! You can do this!

Yes, log them. It all counts. Log added things, like sugar or cream added to tea/coffee, etc. Marshmallows to hot chocolate; tapioca in bubble tea. Log it all. :-)

I'm past that stage (as far as I know!), but I wish you the best! And kudos for breastfeeding - it held a big learning curve for us, but was the best thing ever. Good luck with getting fit! You can do it!

Well done, great and maintainable plan, and you look incredible! Your hard work and dedication really show. Good job! And thanks for answering the questions; that helps.

^ Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, too. Thanks for the reinforcement!

That might be a way to get into better eating and moving habits, but I doubt it would show dramatic long-term weight-loss results. You can't think of weight loss as a "diet", because once you've reached your goal the diet goes away and the pounds come back. Think of it as a lifestyle change. You have to make a choice, and…

Measurements are super helpful, because your body may change in that way first. Also, don't disregard muscle tone. For example, after just 3 days of doing a plank challenge I could already see an (albeit small) difference in the visible shape of my stomach, because the muscles were beginning to tighten. It wasn't a lower…

I'm sorry, I have nothing to contribute to this thread except that I wish you the best of luck! But I'm gratified to see how helpful everyone is being!

You have done a fabulous job and you look so comfortable and relaxed and happy! I don't think there is any reason to feel self-conscious; you worked hard and can enjoy the payoff, and live life fuller. Well done and congratulations! It's a big deal!

I agree with what everyone is saying. It makes no impact on weight gain or loss (unless you fill it with sweetener), but for me it ruins the taste of anything I may try to snack on at the same time, so, because I really enjoy me tea, I know I won't be eating while I'm drinking it.

I'm active here. Always up for new discussions, when I remember to check out this forum.

I think I'll be starting Insanity tonight. I'll definitely need motivation! Good luck to you all!

It's great to see such encouragement on this thread. I agree with what the majority are posting: be safe because detoxing can be nasty, and stay strong, because you can do this! Congratulations on making a big decision and seeking help immediately. Good job and good luck!

Blackstrap molasses is high in iron - you can put a Tablespoon or two into a glass of milk or water, warm or cold. Dark greens are good for iron, I think. Also, consider dehydrating animal's liver and encapsulating it for super rich iron pills. The way I'd do it: buy animal liver (chicken, lamb, beef, whatever you can…

Thank you for posting this! You've done amazing work in a year, and it absolutely shows. Incredible drive and motivation are exhibited here. You're an inspiration! Well done!

Hello! Welcome to the group; I haven't been on MFP in 3 years, so I can't tell you much about it. ;-) But welcome!

I'm 5'2", and my body's happy weight is 125 unless I pack on muscle. I'm pretty solidly built anyway though. I'm currently 150 and definitely 20 lbs overweight, so I'd guess that for your height, 150 is a good goal and then reevaluate. It's just a number - really it's more about how you feel, how your clothes fit, et…

I have a 4 year old and I really dislike at-home workouts, but at this point in my life it's what I can get, so I try to do a little workout when my child is sleeping at night, and I also try to incorporate physical activity (bike riding with a trailer, walks, running around the yard) into our daily lives. I would much…

Coconut oil is amazing. I've used it in smoothies, frying, baking, beverages (not my favorite use though), etc, not to mention hair and skin application. It's a fantastic natural fat if you're going primal/paleo and was one of the main things I changed in my diet and lost 20 lbs in a month (eating strictly primal). I love…

I love that you used the word "gormless"! Just think of how far you've come and how fantastic you look, and that ought to make you smile.

Kelly, don't give up on yourself. You've had success with primal/paleo, so you know that surgery is not the "only option". I personally know about a dozen people who got some type of weight loss surgery, and every single one of them - except for one - has gone back to or exceeded their starting weight because they never…

Your dedication and effort are inspiring and impressive; well done! Best of luck to you! I love this post!

I second the Victoria's Secret comments. I am not as big as you, but my sister-in-law gave me a VS sports bra and I was amazed at how much support and shape it offered. It's the sexiest and most comfortable and supportive sports bra I've ever worn - works great.

Personally, I eat when I'm bored. I also enjoy food, I LOVE carbs and sugar, and I grew up on a lot of food from boxes and cans. So I didn't have great eating habits as a kid but I was active and my metabolism was chugging right along until I hit about 25, and then I started putting on a few pounds. Around that time I also…

@kgirlhart Technically coffee and tea dehydrate you, because they contain caffeine. They give you the fluid, but the caffeine works as a diuretic and you pee out much of what you've taken in. In the day to day it's not a huge deal, in normal amounts, but if someone is perennially dehydrated, coffee and tea should not be at…

I shoot for 64oz a day, and I find that I do better with an 8oz glass in front of me that I can finish in two or three helpings than a big water bottle that takes forever to empty. I have a bullet journal which I use daily, and I draw 8 little water droplets near the date and fill them in when I empty a glass. It's small…
