It works great as a cooking oil if you like the flavor. I use it for some things. Also supposed to be good in baked goods.

If you mean as a weight loss elixir, no. I wouldn't want to waste the calories involved with taking it on its own and think coffee with it sounds disgusting, but some like the coffee.0 -
It's an oil. Use it if you like it. It won't help or deter weight loss by itself.1

I generally only use it in BPC (2 tbsp.), but that's more due to cost effectiveness vs. olive oil on my end. Stuff's a bit too expensive for me to use in general cooking.0

To fry an egg in.2

I see you are 51.
Stick to old and tried things that have been tested over the decades to work.
Get your cholesterol tested.
Don't start mixing coffee with 1/2 a stick of butter or 1/2 cup of coconut oil.0 -
Coconut oil is amazing. I've used it in smoothies, frying, baking, beverages (not my favorite use though), etc, not to mention hair and skin application. It's a fantastic natural fat if you're going primal/paleo and was one of the main things I changed in my diet and lost 20 lbs in a month (eating strictly primal). I love coconut oil.0

Coconut oil is supposed to help with a lot of things more to do with health than weight loss. I use refined coconut oil to fry my eggs or anything else, it can also be used in place of butter on anything. I use unrefined coconut oil when I want to add coconut flavor to my foods, love it to fry sweet potatoes in. I also have a jar of refined coconut oil on my bathroom sink and use it for a moisturizer, it's great for your skin.

I mix coconut oil with brown sugar and use it as a body and face exfoliator in the shower As for it being a weight loss aid, the only reason i can think of is it may help some people stay fuller, and 80ish calories for 10g is better then grabbing a high calorie cake or whatever. I add a tsp in a cup of coffee for an afternoon snack, which helps tide me over till dinner time.
It has calories same as any other oil, so if you are going to eat it make sure and log it.1
