  • I used to have a diet book that was based on that- you ate a certain amount of calories for three days, then lowered it a bit for three days then changed it again for one day. I hated counting calories and it was back in the days we didn't use computers all the time. Maybe I should try it again!
  • I loved mine- really helped with painful, heavy periods for about 8 years, and even then it was only the pain that made me get the hysterectomy. My period never did get heavier. Good luck with yours!
  • Too funny- I love them too but like the last person said- laxative effect. One day I overdosed and ate a whole bag of those Russell Stover no sugar added candies because they tasted so good. I spent the rest of the day on the can- it was worse then when I brushed my teeth with the water in Dominican Republic!!
  • We all have bad days - sometimes bad weeks! But every time i think of what you ate I shudder- not a combo I would go for although separately I would love them!!!
  • I understand what you are talking about- when I was at a really good time in my life physically, I was working out, running, eating healthy, not smoking or drinking etc, I was feeling great. I went to the dr. for regular checkup and found out I had stage 4 cancer of a female type. It was fixed fairly easy but I remember…
  • Dieting can cause the issue or lack of issue! I use metamucil before a meal- helps me feel fuller plus keeps me regular- is supposed to help with diabetes and high cholestrol as well. I actually like the same sort of thing in chewable orange tablets- they help my sweet tooth LOL! You have to make sure you drink at least 8…
  • Right on with the previous post- I use Metamucil for cholestrol-lowering value so I have more- three teaspoons before breakfast and supper. Helps me feel full, lowers cholestrol and I am regular as clock-work. Works great ~~~
  • I don't think that is too much- you need to do at least 20 minutes to have any effect. But if you include toning, you will build muscle which burns fat more when you are resting.
  • The Subway menus usually include the sandwiches you can order as salad i.e sweet onion teriyaki.
  • I want suggestions for breakfast that aren't eggs! I live in Canada so it is sometimes hard to find things here that i might be able to get with cross border shopping!
  • I wouldn't mind some Canadian friends who are diabetic and or low carb. It would be nice to compare notes on foods you might have found that I can get without cross-boarder shopping!!!
  • I moved to Woodstock and I swear I have met 10 people who moved here from Merlin. I often wonder if anyone still lives there or if they just closed up the place because everyone moved.
  • Oops- my friend isn't 10 years old, she is 10 years older then you LOL!!!
  • I messaged you too but I remembered my friend lives where you do. She is a divorcee- maybe you can go out looking for fun with her. She is about 10 years old but she looks great and has been working at losing weight too.
  • I do much better on low carb as well. My dr. also said it is okay for me as a diabetic because it cuts out the sugar and stuff i shouldn't have. If you follow Atkins to the end you eventually reintroduce carbs til you find the amount that is right for you. I think it is like diabetes- not everyone is diabetic so not…
  • I was on a long run and had to pee. Ducked behind a bush and decided to try pulling my shorts aside instead of pulling them right down because two runners had told me they did it that way. I guess I wasn't very co-ordinated because when I started to run I felt a wet short flapping against my leg! I had to hide in the…
  • I am old new- I do really well with the low carb but I keep falling off the wagon! I am back on track now- this week I started and am surprised how good I feel. I also drink a glass of metamucil half hour before each meal. Three teaspoons of metamucil is supposed to lower cholestrol and fibre is supposed to help diabetes-…
  • My fasting blood sugar is usually my highest. My pharmacist said the pancreas (I know that is spelled wrong but it is too early in the morning!!) or liver or whatever it is that dumps insulin can often start dumping in the middle of the night while you are sleeping so you can end up having the highest one when you haven't…
  • Anyone want to add me as friends? I am starting Atkins AGAIN!! I love it but find it hard sometimes if I am not prepared. Need a kick in the butt!
  • I was in Indianapolis for the Drum Corps International final competitons a few weeks ago- doesn't count right?! As a Canadian I have to say- how can you diet with Steak and Shake at almost every corner LOL?!!!
  • I also get very bored but I have been checking out youtube and there is some great stuff there. I like a series called Fitness Blender. They have tons of videos- cardio, interval, boot camp, abs, upper body, lower body. The selection is awesome. I have a t.v. that I can watch youtube on so it makes it easier too. I also…
  • Water gain probably. There are some foods that are high in salt so you can retain fluid without realizing it. Tuna, beef, cottage cheese- that's a few I can think of right away.
  • I have one I picked up at Winners (don't know the brand). I don't love it- I find it very hard to put it on, adjust the strap then get the music going through the plastic front cover. I actually liked my mp3 player better- I think because it was smaller I wasn't as aware of it.
  • I know the feeling- I work full time, work with special needs kids 6 hours aweek, teach to aerobics classes (if you teach you HAVE to go LOL) and volunteer for a few things in my church so I hear ya! I am also not a morning person so I arranged to meet a friend at 7:00 am to walk or workout before I work. I will bail on…
  • When I am organized I go on Atkins website, plan my menu for the week then make up my shopping list. I love the variety of meals they have so it is hard to say what I might need each week.
  • I used them but I don't think they are worth the expense- maybe you are saving on groceries but I bought a soy protein mix from the drugstore for 19.99- lasted almost as long as what I had to pay $99 for (maybe it is cheaper in the States- the shipping and handling was the kicker) and I was just as satisfied. I only lost a…

  • I never have luck with the microwave. What type of spices?
  • I have that problem with nuts too- love them so much I can't stop. Sometimes I will slice a bit of cheese, put it on a cookie sheet and bake it til it is sort of hard- I eat it like a potato chip!!
  • Did your dr. mention Syndrome X or Metabolic Syndrome (same thing, just different name)? My dr. told me that is what I have- it's when you have high blood pressure, high cholestrol and diabetes usually appearing around the same time. We carry fat in our tummy area. I am on Metformin (Glumetza which is time released so 3…
  • WELCOME!! I had a hysterectomy 6 six year ago but ovaries were left. I am now in menopause on and off- not sure if it comes and goes or if I do the right thing sometimes, sometimes I don't??? But the weight is the worst part- I find it very hard to lose no matter what I do. But throwing in the towel would make it worse so…
