Alot of runners say you HAVE to have carbs for the energy- I was always fine when I was into running and doing low carbs. Maybe listen to your body- if you seem tired and can't get going, add some healthy carbs!

Since you like being outdoors can't you skip the treadmill and walk or run outside instead? I have the same problem with workouts too late in the evening but if I finish by 7 or 8 I am okay.

I used to work at a weight loss place years ago. We used to warn people that if you have eaten salty foods the scales can go up because you are retaining fluid. I can't remember all of the foods we mentioned but I do recall beef and tuna were bad.
