  • I hate being inside as well and when the summer starts I usually live at my trailer so I hate going to the gym. I bought some free weights (at Walmart in Canada they are usually about $1 per pound - so 8 lb weights would be 8 bucks each) and I do weights really early in the morning or later in the evening. You can do stuff…
  • Weigh yourself once a month? I find I lose weight slowly- I can stay at same spot for a month then drop five at once.
  • The research show it is supposed to be great. Google Tabata workouts too- I have seen the straight bike Tabata where you do 8 sets of 30 second cycles of 20 seconds as fast as you can, 10 seconds slow but I have also seen workouts where they do two different exercises together.
  • From an article I read recently: "People who eat their largest, most calorie-rich meal at breakfast are more likely to lose weight and have a lower risk of developing diseases linked with body weight such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol, according to a study by Tel Aviv University.…
  • Hmmm- just looked it up. Sounds good and healthy- I just hate the thought of tooting more!!! I have been having issues with that since trying to increase my fiber and it is not pleasant lol!
  • Never heard of it but will be searching the internet!
  • Cheese and nuts?
  • Could it be that he was sensing your feelings and was trying to help motivate you? It does sound like he is echoing what you were feeling and he said it in a nice way, not a nasty "Lose weight or lose me" way. Hang in there and use this to help you KEEP going to your good place!
  • Agreed that Judith is alive- but am I the only person in the world that doesn't trust Governor is dead? If they didn't show him being shot- I don't believe lol! Remember we thought Meryl was a goner when he was chained to the roof!!!!!!
  • A Canadian sounding in- Brits eat a chip butty- hmmm from butt? LOL. Actually I am addicted to Corrie Street and LOVE British expressions!
  • If you don't mind an old grandma (55 but younger at heart!) feel free to join me. I am fighting the weight gain insulin has caused but I never give up the battle and hope to win the war!
  • Agree with the fibre powder part- and if you take it half hour before your meal it can help you feel full as well.
  • Hot Canadian woman here- well, during the flashes at least. And yes Canadians exist- I looked us up on snopes.com to make sure we weren't an urban legend!!
  • I tried just having cinnamon to lower blood sugar (I don't mean I just had cinnamon, I mean I added it to my normal diet by mixing it in with coffee or tea) and it didn't change anything. Then I read that all those studies that supposedly say it lowers blood sugar are not true. Don't waste (or waist!!) your time!
  • We would all move to Banff if we could!!!
  • Woodstock Ontario
  • Glad I am not the only one! I am off in the summer and thought without the busy schedule of work and other activities I do I will be able to focus on myself and weight loss- instead I spent all last week reading and eating. Today I decided I need to get going again so I had my shake for breakfast and I am getting a walk…
  • Muscle doesn't weigh more then fat- it is like a pound of brick and a pound of feathers- they weigh the same but brick takes up less space for the same amount of weight. Muscle is the brick- takes up less space then fat. But like lots of people said- you can be holding water and be down the next day. Hang in there!
  • Sorry you have had an awful week. If you want to add me as a friend feel free- I was diagnosed 7 years ago- have gone from diet controlled to one pill per day to presently being on pills and two different needles- one is insulin. Things are different because I am Canadian so our daily readings are measured different but I…
  • Hey I like Kimberly's idea- weekly challenge would be more doable
  • I am enjoying my first month with you and find it does make me work or try when I might not have on my own. But summer break is fine- I am on different life mode in the summer- trailer, not always at computer, busy or lazy, away lots so I am fine if we take a break too! But if not I will keep going! But in case I want to…
  • I saw one on a tv show that sounded good- apple pie smoothie. I forgot to write everything down so I just winged it and tasted good. Either one apple cut up or one cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 cup 35 calorie vanilla yogurt, 1 scoop protein powder, 2 tsp. ground flaxseed, 1 teaspoon unflavoured metamucil (makes it…
  • By the way- muscle doesn't weigh more then fat. It is like a pound of feathers or a pound of brick. They weigh the same- but like brick, a pound of muscle takes up less space so you will look smaller. But hang in- it doesn't happen overnight!
  • Used to have to do these when I injured my knee during a freak Sumo wrestling accident (what other kind are there?) as part of my physio. Is it alright to do with a stability ball between you and the wall? I use the ball when I teach because it helps you slide down the wall easier. I tried to cut a paste a picture but it…
  • I'm old and I'm down south (Woodstock) but I'm from Ontario if you want to add me!
  • That is 3.22 km for us Canadian Sopranos!
  • Team Blundetto- I visited a friend who has been off work since February due to a knee injury. She had surgery a month ago and is very bored/frustrated/lonely and sad that people from work have sort of forgotten her. She loves walking and I knew this nice weather would make her miss it even more so I stopped in for a nice…
  • Does it count if we stay under our calorie goal by including exercise?
  • Way to do this challenge on a Saturday lol! Oh yeah, on a Saturday when I am going to lunch with friends!! When I didn't see it first so I already had a bigger then normal breakfast! Note to self- remember to read challenge the night before!
  • Ha ha - I teach a workout class on Thursday nights and just started a new type last week called metabolic workout. We were supposed to do mountain climbers (which I haven't really done because it was usually a lower intensity type class that I taught) but ran out of time. So when I came home and saw the assignment I did…
