So glad I saw this post; yes it's old, but it is timely that I came across it to answer some much needed questions.

Most of my meals are pretty much the same since I like routine. My go-to is Salad in a jar. I make these in advance so I always have salad ready for lunch or dinner. So it's salad with a Morningstar Farms griller on top.

You should log everything to get a better understanding of calories, carbs, sugar, sodium, etc.

Oy...back awayyyy from the snickers. Not a healthy snack if you want to lose:/

Every person is different. I used to have that hunger after eating similar to what you mentioned. Only it was a bagel and cream cheese. The problem is the bagel. It is carbs and unnecessary. If you like eggs, keep hard-boiled eggs in your fridge for a quick snack or make deviled eggs:) The tuna on its own is fine; it's…

Use them as a door stop.

This is an excellent rule. By default, that is when I stop eating for the day and it has made a huge difference. You have some good suggestions here.

Hi, friend:) First off, good for you for being on here. It will help you learn so much about daily foods, daily intake, etc. Secondly, have you spoken with your doctor about starting a new lifestyle change? She/He may be able to map out what you need to have through your day, including snacks. I recently started a low carb…

Bumping this one up so I can read this post over again. I reallize this is an old thread, but this makes good sense:)

As someone who was born and raised a Catholic, I never thought to look that up, LOL!!!!!! When Mom, Dad and Grandparents said "No meat on Fridays", we simply did not eat meat on Fridays, no questions asked. Thanks for the info:)

Agreed!!!!! What you have said regarding low fat is just what my Endo told me, but.....he told me that I have to go low carb to drop the rest of the weight. Eating good fats is fine, red meat and poultry are fine-the bod needs iron and protein.
-
A little bit won't hurt, especially if it is lean beef. You are getting your protein.

a person who was probably conditioned by her parents to do so, unfortunately.

She looks real happy. LOL

Thank you:) I'm not about fads; I am a long term gal:) I thought I was doing all the right things, what I was doing, though, was working against me--the carbs, even though they are good carbs. It was beyond frustrating to do what I thought was right in diet and exercise, and then not yielding anymore results.

It was just plain cheese-I had a huge salad, though, to stave off the craving to eat the bread of the pizza. I make salads in advance and put them in 2quart mason jars. That way, they are always ready when I need them.

Hi:) I tried to go low carb, but had no will power, so I just ate light. I figured if I eat light and exercise, it would just come off. After some time of the scale not moving, I got worried and went to my Endo who suggested that I do low carb and high protein. I had some pizza cheese, but it didn't taste right, so I ended…

Hi:) At my Endocrinologist's advice, I started a low carb diet. He didn't tell me how many grams I needed for the day, but did say I shouldn't have breads and pastas. I used to love honey in my tea, but I cut that out as well. I am only on day 2 and I do feel energized, like I didn't need to carb load before a heavy…

I have 40 more to lose; please feel free to add me, this goes to anyone on this thread as well. Support is good; there is strength in numbers:)
-
Sending you a virtual hug and a huge thank you!!! What you have said there in your first sentence is pretty much word for word what my endo said. He encouraged more weight training than cardio, although he said keep doing the cardio, just do more weights. He says no soy. Not even a Special K bar, LOL!!!!:) I was addicted…

I think this is mostly to get the scale moving again. I was enjoying oatmeal and light English muffin, an orange and tea. that was close to 90g in carbs. I didn't think it was a big deal because I was looking at the quality of the food. I wasn't eating Cocoa Krispies and cold pizza, LOL!!!!!:) I figured oats and grains and…

I noticed this yesterday when I went to buy some. I got it home, tried it once again and tossed it into the trash. I just don't have the taste buds for it. But noticed the carb count. He was basically saying that yogurt is a better fit for me than lite english muffin.

Thank you for saying this. When I took Body Pump and then years later Group Power, I was lucky to burn up to 100 calories. This is according to my HRM. I would take a spin class first, which would be a great burn, then I would do Group Power. I was concerned because though I was working very hard, that HRM just wasn't…

Crossfit in and of itself is a great idea, but…the price is a bunch of hoo haa.

True, although weight gain is a symptom of hypothyroidism. You can lose the weight, just not at the same rate as someone with a healthy thyroid. I lost 105 pounds; it took me a long time to do so and a ton of struggling. It's been quite the journey. I just need to get the remaining 40 pounds off. I thought I was doing…

The idea of having that bread with my breakfast was satisfying, My breakfast would be oatmeal, an orange, green tea with honey and a light English muffin with light butter. He says that is the perfect breakfast for someone who doesn't have to watch their carb intake:/ For me, he suggested yogurt or cream cheese…I've tried…

In my family, there are many who are on the overweight side---a few have been recently diagnosed with hypo. Thing is, they loooove their carbs, just as I do==I gravitate towards them because they are filling and it's comfort food==even ones I think are healthy. An Eng. muffin sorta completes the breakfast. He says Qunoa…

I need to drop 40 more and having difficulty. Please feel free to add me as well:) Having good support makes things less of a burden on this journey:)

Please take it back to the store and get a refund. There is no pill that will do this. It's proper diet and exercise-there is no shortcuts. It will mess with your metabolism. Use the money from your refund to buy fresh produce, some good whole foods.

This makes sense:) Thanks for sharing:)
