Saving this thread; lots of wonderful information here:)

My endo suggested I not go over 60g of carbs because I am hypothyroid and my metabolism is extremely slow. He said it would help me shed pounds.

I end up overcompensating with fat with a low carb diet. I read on a few different low-carber message boards that it's okay to do this as long as it's healthy fats. I'm wondering if maybe I needed to cut back on the olive oil. Also, each night, I would enjoy fresh mozzarella with a tomato, fresh basil and olive oil. I cut…

Yes; I use a food scale; I don't eat my calories back. The only thing I can think of is that I am hypothyroid and it has slowed my progress.
-
I lowered it to 1375; I have no problem eating less than that.
-
PS; add avocado, too! It's a healthy fat and good filler:)

crustless spinach or broccoli quiche, turkey patties=home made are 2 things that are my go-to, plus, they make for good fuel before a workout. Try skinnytaste.com they have recipes for every lifestyle.

Of course you could do it; it is doable, but not sustainable. Try carb cycling, that way you're not staying low all the time. On rest days, go for less carbs, on workout days, go for more. Keep the body guessing:) I did low carb last year; doc wanted me to do 60g a day, I went for 40. The weight rolled off,…

I do carb cycling; I consume fewer carbs on rest/recovery days and higher carbs on workout days. It seems to be working best. I tried going very low carb and it did work for a few months. I couldn't stay on something like that forever. Carb cycling is more comfortable for me. Make sure you are paying attention to the carbs…

Amy's and Smart ones, in my opinion---Smart ones goes on sale a lot. However, they are loaded with sodium and in my humble opinion, not very filling. Before I had kids and metabolic issues, I would eat Smart ones every night as part of my Weight Watchers program. It worked, I lost the weight. I am 44 now, and the games…

Thanks so much; I have this thing about being overly conscious with my numbers. I need to chill, but I tend to become obsessed. So afraid of putting more weight on:/
-
Yes; it was my entire breakfast; just wondering why all those extra carbs popped up:/
-
I really just add a pinch here and there; I scan the barcode on my phone to add to my food diary and the carbs just pop up---even if I put something like .25 of a serving---it's just a guess as I am not sure what pinch would mean in a serving, LOL:)
-
Knit, can you see my diary, now? I have it so my buddies on here can see it:) I take levothyroxine and my levels are fine with it, but my symptoms are still there-fatigue, gains here and there, etc. What supplement do you take that might help this?
-
Saving this recipe:) What protein powder do you recommend that is low carb?
-
Go to skinnytaste.com there are so many good low carb recipes on there. My favorite is for a turkey sausage pattie. I was apprehensive at first, but it's so good that I made enough for the next 2 weeks. It calls for a pinch of raw sugar, but I left that out. Hope you find something you enjoy:) Low carb is hard and…

This makes sense. He also said I would have a difficult time as I am "fighting genetics"-Mom has been overweight all her life, Dad struggled with his, but lost weight quickly on fad diets. I take after him and Paternal Grandmom. I did the low carb diet thing and lost weight every day; that's when I learned I was really…

Thanks, everyone:) I am hypothyroid and take medication for it; weight loss has taken years and is an extremely slow process for me. The only thing my Endo worried about was my carb intake--I was eating too many oranges. I kid you not, LOL. I had another doctor that said eat all the oranges I want; it's healthy. I was…

I was curious about this drug as well and wanted to give it a try. Thing is, once you go off of it, won't the weight come back? That's what happened to me when Alli first came out; the stuff was awesome; I lost weight and was happy. I stopped taking it, and the weight came back. It was a safer pill and FDA approved, but…

The most accurate is a Heart Rate Monitor. What's a Scooby's? And it's best to err on the side of caution, if you don't have an HRM, and go with the lowest.
-
Bumping this up; it frustrates me, honestly. I allow friends to see mine, I should be able to see theirs; this is why we're here.
-
Bumping this up. I am on Levothyroxine, meticulous about my diet and exercise-with the exception of a day or 2 during my 'cycle'. Theoretically speaking, I should be Twiggy by now. I am baffled. My Endo says I am fighting genetics, but to just keep watching my intake. It's more about the food than the exercise, but the…

Cow's milk tops all of them for me, but…..I haven't had it in a long time. I discovered unsweetened coconut milk, but there's 4.5 sat fat in a serving. Not sure….is that a good sat fat? LOL:) It worried me, so I tried Almond milk. It made me gag:/ I have unsweetened almond milk which I put a little in my cocoa; haven't…

Bumping this up:)

So glad I found this thread; I go over my fats each day; I had to go low carb for awhile; I am always below in calories, though. The fats I consume come from raw, whole almonds, olive oil. sunflower or pumpkin seeds, stuff like that. I do enjoy fresh mozzarella cheese with my tomato at lunchtime, but for the most part, my…

Why are you still with this lump of nothing? If you stay with him, this is the treatment you will receive as long as you're together. Is that what you really want? You don' t need this in your life and I am pretty sure you know it. Take measures to get out or dump him and change the locks. He is verbally and mentally…

If it speaks to you, get it. I wait till I can get it on Amazon, used;) That will save you a few dollars. if it's something that you feel you can do for yourself and it's not a pill or shake that promises to speed up your metabolism do it. I enjoy reading about certain foods I could eat that would speed it up naturally;…

Me and the hubs can access each other's phones. He has better apps than I do, LOL!!!! No reason to put a 'code' unless the kids can use these phones and try to purchase apps, which is what my daughter tried doing!!!:)

First off, you are cute before AND after!!! Secondly what a great story:) In my case, it's not so much exercise as it is diet. I have to be very strict, being hypothyroid. I exercise each day, but it means nothing if I'm not being meticulous about every morsel I put into my mouth; it's just how this bod was made,…
