I've never done a 5k, but I "walk/jog/run" 5k distance about 3 times a week. Has anyone run this before? Should I do a "normal" 5k as a first race? I know I won't finish first; I just want to finish. I'm at work so I can't reply as fully as I would like, but this is a good place to start: http://www.daveramsey.com/new/baby-steps/ I've been working the plan and listening to his podcast. Many, many people are getting out of debit using his plan (myself included). It does work.
