  • thanks!! I know, who would have thought--let's just hope they are around a long time because they have created something we can't live without!
  • thanks!! it gets to be part of life after awhile and the support = addicting!
  • Wow, such a tough situation. I have a child (9 1/2) with some issues too: highly allergic to peanuts, to a few TNs, and just recently we learned because he has been getting a few stomachaches after eating loads of edamame, soy. So we are going to go in an do a challenge on that in a few months, where it wasn't even on the…
  • thanks everyone! So glad we are all here to share w/everyone!
  • This is so true! I'm so "regular" w/my diet and that's where I messed up, thinking I could just do it on my own last year...and seems like we all get a little more variety than we think...especially in the summer, with vacations and disruption of routine with kids, I hope you are feeling better and have a good routine…
  • thank you all so much for your comments--I'm so glad writing it down is helpful. When I first started there were just a handful of us maintainers and it's so great to know how many of us this site has produced over the last few years, and we have some great experiences to share. And Kimad--i have a theory about the…
  • so glad you liked it! Appreciate the feedback!
  • thanks Martha, as are you!! One of my long-term maintaining pals!
  • Thanks so much for going back to the older ones and sharing! Appreciate that!
  • Hello everyone! Thanks so much for all your comments and feedback. I never realized at first how helpful feedback on maintenance was until I wrote about my 1st year and the great notes and comments I received back. And of course I love hearing about everyone else's experiences and learn so much from them. It's funny,…
  • thanks everyone! Once we enter maintenance, we all seem to realize it's the hardest part, isn't it?! How in the world to do this forever??! Thank goodness for all the people here on the site. And so glad you found the post helpful and inspiring!
  • WOW! Amazing changes!! Love that your success came with lifting and and you look fantastic in spite of more weight....the more success stories we see showing beauty is not even remotely tied to that number on the scale the better!!
  • I know what you mean, some people do come on strong. I do a lot of BB workouts, and I LOVE them...they really are so well-thought out and for someone like me who wants to be told what to do, wants a well-rounded workout, and likes to workout at home, they work great for me. I have dealt with the annoying coaches though,…
  • thanks for checking it out! I know, sometimes it's really surprising where you'll find these allergens. One of these days I'll write a public letter to all retailers about how awful so many of the stores are for people with allergies.....it's my biggest pet peeve. So you haven't navigated the school system yet, have you?!…
  • thanks!! still hard to believe. I started here just to "lose a few lbs" and it has made such a difference in my life. I hope it does for everyone else too!
  • thanks so much!!
  • wow, fantastic!! Look forward to reading about your story..... I'm tagging this now too and will read in a little bit!
  • thanks!!! this was in May but the thread keeps going thankfully :) still maintaining now and learning new things about how we need to adapt so much because there are so many changes that can happen when you "maintain". You certainly wouldn't think that, would you? So true though....
  • Amazing---looks like we are lifers. Sometimes it takes a little time off to realize what we already knew, eh??
  • great point about the macros...I did that very carefully for awhile but haven't looked at it too closely lately because I eat the same stuff all the time--everything is super-steady when I'm on track at least!
  • Wow, fantastic that you reached your 1 year anniversary Congrats!!! You should do a little write up too--everyone would learn so much from you!! The no-logging for me was going ok at first but then I went on vacation and guess what happened? I came home and suddenly my "base" was much bigger and not having the metrics to…
  • I love this attitude, thanks for your comment. That's probably a good idea to do before vacation--I hadn't thought of that. And actually my no-logging was going fine until vacation, when suddenly the food-level went up and I think I had a hard time reverting back to normal levels after the fact..... congrats on maintaining…
  • I just wanted to go back to this post and note I just did an experiment where I stopped logging for the last few months and guess what??? Not good! It wasn't out of control, but definitely if I go any further without numbers, it will be. I think logging for the long haul, back to what works, is the way to go....
  • So I went back to my Anniversary post, after a 3 month long experiment in not logging, and guess what? It was a complete disaster! Not to say I was out of control, but I can see if I go any further down this path it will be. Anyway, re-reading all my old posts and getting myself back to what works: Logging included in…
  • [/quote] "" not if you are acurate about logging your foods, and exercising regularly, getting plenty of rest, and drinking lots of fluids. i was weighing in daily and driving myself batty. it wasn't healthy. sometimes multiple times a day. yes, guys can do this too. so i stopped. i started weighing myself once a week. and…
  • it take some time to figure out the right level of calories when you start to maintain. for me, it took me a year and a half to gradually inch my way up from 1200 or whatever I was using at the time to lose, and to my current maintaining level. I think that's the safest way to do it--go up a little, wait a few weeks, then…
  • just thinking about this thread a lot this week...have been struggling big time for the last 3 weeks since vacation. After 4 years of logging, I felt I was good to stop over the last month, but now I have developed some bad habits over vacation and feel like I have taken a big step backwards, after being fine for the past…
  • I think it's easier too, one of the hardest things to figure out is that maintenance level--it took me over a year, maybe a year and a half to find my limit, because I was so worried about gaining-- and I went up gradually. Anyway, good luck to you!
  • agree I have done this, my own version of IF, also just "averaging" calories for the week, so if you go out to dinner for a splurge, or have a few up days, generally you have a few down days too and it all works out ok on average....that takes away some day-to-day obsession!
  • I totally hear you....I think this is why so many people gain the weight back. Maintaining does require a constant state of awareness and sometimes it's good, but sometimes not so good. I just wrote this last month about some of my self-image issues that are caused by maintaining....if you want to check it out. My 3 year…
