DEAR GOD. . Having a genetic 'tendency' towards something is like walking around with a stick of dynamite in one hand - you have the CHOICE to light it or not by how you CHOOSE to live your life. Please, for the love of cheesecake, provide a link to this study. I can GUARANTEE without a reason of a doubt that you are…

We should also keep in mind that fat tissue is a living, breathing organ. It isn't just dead weight - it's extremely metabolically active and plays a crucial role in numerous pathways that science is just beginning to understand. Fat tissue produces, releases, amplifies, and regulates cellular signals (such as hormones),…

No, not that I am aware of, and that is the problem. The ONLY reliable weight loss studies (or any studies that examine human beings and food) are the ones that are preformed by competent researchers in metabolic wards where the participants are kept locked up and under 24-hour surveillance - you can just imagine the cost…
-
No. I'd say its the opposite. If you can't digest your food your body does not produce the hormonal signals to tell your brain that you're full - so you tend to over eat. Not to mention without digestion, your body cannot assimilate the nutrients it needs from the food so your brain may tell you to keep eating in hopes…

Amen. There are many MANY was to manipulate the metabolism - for good or for bad. People forget that we can manipulate the calories in, calories out equation by many means including eating more, adjusting macros, changing the type of exercise, etc. But the fundamental principle still holds. calories in < calories out =…

This is why you're not losing> http://youtu.be/JVjWPclrWVY Period. .

Missing 43% of my calorie intake is nothing I tell you! NOTHING! Calories-in, calories-out is a LIE! Puhh... If you ever come across a study that uses 'self-reporting' as it's methods... Gently ease a giant smile on your face, walk away calmly, and forget everything you just read. Oh, and demand that NSF stop…

Very true. Same with being born with a tail. Rare, but it happens. Luckily 99.99999999999% of us are born without a tail and just a tail-bone. Funny how 99.99999999999% of us are convinced that we fit in the 0.00000000001 percentile. It's time to be honest with ourselves folks. .

Total deer in the headlights. ;) I image we all look like this when we get called out on our s***.

Almonds> Lately I'm doing a 30-day N=1 experiment eliminating almonds and almond butter because I'm starting to suspect that they may be a problem food…

Hey all! I just wanted to share a response I gave to a personal message I recieved from someone about this topic. Having a 'slow' metabolism isn't necessarily a bad thing!!!! No problem. Yes, it's a shame that people think that can eat so much and get away with it. As the saying goes, 'you can't have your cake and eat it…
-
You all make excellent points :)
-
Good point. If you check out his blog, he lists what he eats right before his races.
-
Have you ever looked into JUDDD? It's practically the same eating style.
-
I've done this a million times before... But I'm a firm believer that in order to change you have to be honest with yourself. No matter how ugly and unhealthy the food may be, I make sure to log it. That way, when I'm not seeing the results I would like, I have no one else but myself to point the finger at.

1.) You cannot lose weight if you're not eating at a deficit. 2.) You cannot gain muscle if you're not eating a surplus. 3.) Weight loss is never linear, plateaus are a period of adjustment for your body. 4.) Triglyceride hydrolysis requires water. If you're not drinking enough water you will not lose fat.

Personally, I believe nutritional science (and the world in general) can all be explained via quantum mechanics: The observer creates reality, classically shown in the double slit experiment in which electrons become aware of being observed and therefore change their behavior. In other words, observers create reality…
