  • I find tracking hardest after 3pm, so I'm glad this group is keeping me honest!
  • Argh - did NOT lose weight this week. But I know I'm on the right track with what I'm doing, so I feel pretty good about it anyway!
  • It's so good that you tracked even though you went over. I find that to be a huge challenge...to track regardless of what happens. And it really does make a difference. I know in Weight Watchers you get a certain number of "extra" points each week. So I think going over once in a while should be ok anyway. It's the long…
  • Had a really great day. Drove out to the East End of Long Island, had a late seafood brunch and chose something healthy off the menu (the fish and chips were calling...but I ignored them...). Was able to stay under my calorie goal despite having gelato. Bringing healthy snacks for the car definitely helped. I LOVE sugar…
  • Yup - did yesterday. Got on the scale, though (tomorrow is officially my weigh-in day) and it said I gained two pounds! ???????
  • Thanks to all who have posted. You are all helping to keep me motivated. Today was not good for me, but I did track. Got bad news on a job application and went a little wild with the cereal. At least it's Cheerios and not Cocoa Puffs!
  • Re: Setting Calorie Goals: I'm curious how you all have set your calorie goals in MFP. I found that when I used the automatic calculator, the goal was way too low for healthy weight loss, so I found an article on WebMD (I really trust that site for good health advice) and set it based on their guidelines. Did anyone have…
  • @Haddasah_Sofia -- I really relate to the finances tracking. I am currently jobless (and very nervous) and also tracking my spending. Tracking, tracking, tracking. But it works! p.s. what is "RSI"?
  • Hi Folks! Please switch over to recording your comments in the Group (also called "July Tracking Challenge" - I'm adding everyone here in case it is hard to find.
  • Great job, everyone! :) What I'm doing is posting my tracking progress the morning after, because I tend to finish up late at night.
  • Tracked today - all day - went 75 calories over and way over on sugar, but otherwise not too shabby.

  • Nope, you just need to join under "Groups." Let me know if you have any problems with that.
  • I finished Week 7 yesterday - I can't believe I can run for 25 minutes! my total distance was 2.5 miles/4K. I actually got under a ten minutes mile. It's funny, I keep thinking, "is it really me that is doing this????" I really want to encourage everyone on this board to keep going. This is a great program. Running is…
  • Hi Keaira, welcome aboard! As you can see, I've altered the name of the group - I originally intended for 40 yr old +, but decided after your post that that was silly, so I changed it. Thanks! I see your measuring in kg -- where are you from? I'm in New York City. Land of 10 million bakeries.
  • I started C25K in June , right fter my 50th birthday. I've never run 5k in my life. The main reason I started really had nothing to do with weight or even exercise, but that I needed a goal I could have complete control over (work has sucked lately). A couple of thoughts: Know your own body -- there is nothing that says…
  • Great idea. I'll check it out. Can you hear it if you're listening to music, etc., or does it just vibrate?
  • Apples also make me hungry, unless I eat them with protein, like a couple of almonds.
  • Oh, and a p.s. Just like "urge surfing" is helpful in learning to wait out the urge to binge until the urge decreases, if you wait out the urge to respond to someone like Matt, eventually he will also decrease, that is, stop posting nonsense, and go away.
  • Hi, I've been there, and I just want to support you in making it through a day without binging. Also, hope you don't mind, but I wanted to share a technique I've found to be very helpful in dealing with binge eating. It's called "urge surfing." This is a good description, but if you google it there's advice all over the…
  • It's funny, when I was younger, I was fine with being with heavier guys. Now that I'm older (just about to hit 50), health is more of a concern. I'm single again (sigh) and now dating a guy who is heavier. Attraction really wasn't so much of a problem, but I'm finding he has all these health issues, and I'm concerned. I…
  • Thank you, almonds - if you are sick with anything contagious (colds, sinus infections, etc.) PLEASE don't go to the gym. It isn't fair to anyone else there.
  • I'm with Nikki. My dad exercised all through his bout with pancretic cancer, and I really think it prolonged his life.
  • Hi, so glad I found this topic! (Do I need to "join" this group, and, if so, how do I do that????) I'm a little late on August goals (it's the 12th), but here goes: 1. Eat at least 5 fruits and veggies daily 2. Drink the 8 glasses of water daily (not hard to do, it's been hovering around 90 all summer) 3. Recording my food…
  • I tried Weight Watchers for several years. When I stuck to the program, it worked. However, I find MFP much easier and so far it is really working for me, and I kept dropping Weight Watchers because I HATED going to the meetings. If you didn't lose that week, it was miserable. And I didn't like sitting around and listening…
  • Totally agree... In my case, I need to lose 20 lbs (25 before I started using this site - yay!) to get a healthy weight. So when someone says "you don't need to lose weight, you look fine," I say "I think my doctor is a better judge of that."
  • I'd really recommend Debra Mazda's "Shapely Girl" step aerobics - of course, you have to buy the step (get the "Original," not the copies). She is so encouraging, breaks down everything so you can really learn it, and, my favorite, includes heavier women in the "class" on the DVD.
