My goal for September is 100 miles of walking. Starting September 5th 9/5/2021 - 5 miles Wondering how everyone finds the TIME for all their walking? Also wondering if people are finding the walking helps them lose weight or maintain their weight?

Thanks for all the suggestions. kshama2001, I'm going to check out that book. I guess it is a question of just accepting that this is a chronic thing, and needs to be constantly managed.

Been very depressed lately and having trouble sticking to diet, let alone exercising. I'm very unhappy with pretty much everything in my life, and it just seems impossible to get out of this hole. I'm 53, and I keep thinking, this is it, this is as good as it gets, so who cares what I look like. Middle age truly sucks.

I struggle with depression, attributable to both genetic and environmental factors. One of the things that always gets to me is how people who have never experienced clinic depression think they know what it is about. For me, there are some physical and cognitive factors. I find it hard to move, and I can't concentrate,…

I think the points in the article are valid. However, I question the emphasis on "the last five pounds." Seriously, if you get older and are carrying an extra five pounds, so what? It's when you are carrying an extra 50 that there is a problem. There is a difference between wanting to be healthy and wanting to hold onto…

Thanks for all the great answers. Time to start really watching the CI!

Does anyone else get very nauseated on Wellbutrin? I find myself overeating carbs in the morning to counteract the nausea effect. It does not help that I take the train to work, as I also tend to get motion sickness.

@Liftheavylovehard & @slinkybinkydog - sending warm thoughts your way. I know how difficult it is to deal with depression and take care of your health at the same time. It is especially hard to have to fake cheerfulness when you are feeling truly awful.

I've going through a battle with depression now, this is what helps me (and sometimes not...) 1. Get into a routine. As many of the folks said above, start small. 2. Don't think of it as "exercise" - think of it as "movement." 3. Use some kind of feedback method that encourages you to do more...a pedometer is great. Just…

Went way over today. :( I was tired all day for some reason - I've noticed that when I'm tired, I tend to eat a lot more.

Tracking went well on Tuesday. I've been going to the gym late (7:00 p.m.) and by the time I get home, I'm not hungry for dinner. So Tuesday I was way under on my calories. I'm thinking that on gym days, I'll have to have a bigger lunch.

I tracked on Monday!
-
Finished tracking today! WAY over because of a cookout and heavy munching, but still recorded!
-
Been a struggle, but I'm keeping it up. Something about unemployment makes me want to binge on carbs...
-
I tracked, was over by 21, but burned way more calories doing exercise.
-
Tracked!
-
Just finished my tracking for Thursday - my internet connection was down and the app wasn't syncing right. I went over on calories yesterday, but did really well with sugar, which is something I'm concerned about. (Blood sugar tested high at my last appointment...).
-
amflautist - sounds fantastic!
-
I know, really! Well, I have to admit, I did not track today...not that I ate so badly, I just forgot to track. But I do remember having a pretty awesome Korean Rice Bowl.
-
I tracked both days, but it's been a tough couple of days. I went over by about 500 calories on Tuesday. Emotional eating, definitely.
-
Finished tracking. Had a great day!

My boyfriend is following strict paleo, although he is including some quinoa and kasha. I'm not going paleo, but we're preparing mostly paleo meals and I might have cereal or toast with breakfast. So far working well. I'll sometimes add tofu or tempeh, he doesn't. Always looking for ideas, especially slow cooker, that can…

I started a group that is focused on tracking for July - August will be something different (maybe increasing eating fruits and veggies, maybe increasing exercise). Would love more members and I friend everyone who joins.

Ate a lot more yesterday evening than I intended. But kept relatively close in points, and yesterday was a big exercise day. I signed up for the paid version of MFP so I could have the tracker not add exercise calories to food calories. I want to keep them separate.
