Yep, I totally and wholeheartedly agree with what she says in the book. The solution is simple but NOT EASY. I am currently re-reading it for like the 10th time. Sometimes it's easier to do than others. I was able to get five weeks binge-free last year using this technique, which has NEVER happened unless I was in a…

Thanks for sharing-good read. I'm soooo addicted to sugar and I know it's real.

I think the only thing I can think of that I'm proud about today is coming back to the forum. And doing one of my hardest workouts. Otherwise, I'm not doing well at all. That's why I'm back here. But now that it's on the app I have no excuse not to be!

One day a week isn't that bad! It could be much, much worse....

You're definitely not alone! I feel hopeless and want to give up a lot of the time...but I don't. I wish I had all the answers but I do not. I also recommend reading "Brain Over Binge".

Worked out even though I didn't feel like it. Did my walk/jog intervals to spin class and home even though I didn't feel like that either because it's hot out.

Haven't checked in lately due to a busy week...and a crappy week with the binges. Greeky - 8 Binge - 7

On Friday, I resisted free junk food in the break room and reached out to others instead. This is HUGE because it is one of my biggest binge foods and to have it there and free made it even more difficult. Five days in a row binge-free today!!

Welcome, Chuck! I know all about the cycle. For me, I will start to feel better after a few "good days" and somehow I think I can eat again. I'm glad you posted!

Me too! Sounds very interesting!

Greeky - 5 Binge - 3 It would've been Greeky 4 and Binge 4 if it weren't for my wonderful friends, thank you!!! I seriously couldn't have gotten through yesterday without you!!

[/quote] Yup, the only thing bingeing does is take away (temporarily) the urge to binge. She says, "I binged because I had urges to binge". This is me. For me, I don't think it is necessarily emotional; there are days when I have major urges and days when I have none, and nothing is any different between those days except…

Ahh yes, thank you, it's been a little while since I've read the book but I do recall reading this part now. I totally know what she is saying but that is very hard to do!

Dennis, that is awesome!! All of it, but especially the eating two cookies and stopping AND THEN skipping the ice cream! Cookies are pretty much my biggest binge food and I don't think I could have done that!! Crepes – sounds like you had a wonderful time! I’m so glad you went – I have done the same thing – cancel plans…

Ok thanks, I wasn't sure if she mentioned that because I know she talks about not dieting and how she eats all kinds of foods. I can barely put brain over binge when not eating those types of foods-I don't think I will ever be able to eat them normally. I agree, if I have to fix everything else in my life in order for my…

Binge free for a MONTH? That's is fantastic! Unheard of for me...I haven't had a month binge-free probably since I was in OA, which was eight years ago now. (wow time flies) I "forgot" again today...I am in need of serious help. My clothes are getting tighter and I'm uncomfortable and I still can't stay away from the crap…

Wow, I start thinking about food and what I'm going to eat/not going to eat that day within minutes of waking up. WTF. I am very interested in having sort of a co-sponsorship with someone. I have texted some of my mfp friends, but don't have a pact or commitment or formal daily check-in and perhaps that might be helpful.…

I just wrote a long post and lost it when I hit the wrong button my mistake...I am sooooooo mad! Anyway, yes, I have read the book and yes, I am interested in having a thread to discuss it. I have also read numerous books on food addiction and eating disorders and recovery and I think this is my favorite. I am not going to…

WillLift, Great job!! It's so hard to have one thing and not get into "f it" mode! (for me, anyway) Pudding - Four days is HUGE! Don't minimize that! Great work!! Dennis - Awesome job getting out of bed and exercising! I know how hard it can be to get motivated some days...but we always feel better after! Congrats on the…

Congratulations!! 10 days is AWESOME!!

Greeky - 1 Binge - 1 I will be ahead after today.

Greeky - 17 Binge - 14 August MUST be better.

...not having a knee-jerk reaction to cravings for binge food today, but instead really thinking it through and not just acting mindlessly, which I tend to do a lot. Really trying to distract and delay which I had not been doing lately. Posting here and really making an attempt to not give in. I know it's not worth it!!!

I can totally relate. I've gained at least 10 lbs back in the past two years, and that's with logging and exercising like mad! I've been dealing with eating disorders since I was 12 and I am 38 now. (Jeez I sound old!) It started with dieting that led to anorexia, that eventually led to binge eating and now I pretty much…

Totally agree. BED is both mental and physiological. And the food manufacturers totally know what they are doing. It's terrible.

Thank you all for your responses, you are all awesome and very helpful. I'm not giving up, but sometimes I just think WTF, I am hopeless, a lost cause, too far gone to ever beat this thing...ugh. I am bound and determined to end July on a good note but suddenly started having food thoughts (not healthy food) so I thought…
