  • It is true, though yesterday I got into the yard and did some weeding/gardening...today I made a point of not taking the shuttle and using my crutches to get from the parking garage to work. I'll do that on the way back too, just because the lack of activity is starting to get to me mentally. I wanted to get up and do…
  • I know-that's the other problem. My hip is starting to hurt on the OTHER side of my body because my legs are uneven. I've been using crutches and not walking on the boot if I'm going long distances...Ugh. Trying to do physical activity to stay in shape...(Pilates and stationary bike) but I really miss dancing.
  • 1.) I run a lot...days I run longer I allow myself to eat more (date night, for example-we go out for dinner so usually that's more calorie-dense) 2.) I am obsessed with peanut butter cups. So instead I buy 70-80% cacao and all natural peanut butter. Satisfies the craving for fewer calories (and it doesn't take as much…
  • Not necessarily. If you go to a running store they will pick out several styles for you based on analyzing your gait, looking at your arches, stability, etc. My first pair were Saucony and my ones I have now are Brooks. Totally depends. The stores I went to watches you run bare foot on a treadmill, stand on this balance…
  • I agree with this. I wasn't always a runner. I started a couple years ago and now I'm addicted. I didn't start with a program, I just started running. I told myself I was going to go a certain distance, but that I was allowed walk breaks. You will not be able to run the entire distance when you first start. Try alternating…
  • Well-I went for it. Got white meat chicken pho last night. I only used 1/3 of the noodles and added extra veggies. I now have half of it left for tonight. I'll still cut back on the noodles and add extra sprouts (my favorite part). It hit the spot!
  • Huge salad with bell peppers, celery, cucumber, green beans and broccoli sprouts and some pretzels with extra sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Feel free to add me. I'm usually pretty consistent about logging-do take occasional days off (vacations, etc) but I'm always here for support.
  • Arc trainer, Elliptical ab workout from blogilates.com.
  • I avoid the gym at all costs because running outside beats the hamster wheel any day. The end.
  • Orange bitters make it extra delicious.
  • Tuna bowl: 1 5 oz can tuna, cherry tomatoes, 1/3 fresh cucumber cut into chunks, 1/2 haas avocado, 2 Tbs Newman's light lime dressing, about 2/3 cup alfalfa sprouts. YUM! And >30 grams protein!
  • I ate about a tablespoon of raisins to stave off my hunger for a bit because I have a couple short patient visits before lunch... All I can think about is what I have packed for lunch and how hungry I am. :(
  • Why would you give up wine? I was on a kick where I had a glass with dinner almost every night. It's delicious, has some health benefits... Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Malbec Pinot Noir My favorites. I would never give up red wine unless I became deathly allergic.
  • Red wine? Beat it? MORE LIKE JOIN IT! That's my fave. I was enjoying lower sugar/calorie margaritas for a while...but only because we didn't have red wine in the house. Nothing beats a good red.
  • I think it is an acquired taste for many people-not all. As someone who has been drinking coffee since I was 12 years old, I can say I didn't like it much at first, but wanted to feel grown up so I put lots of sugar and milk in it and drank it. These days it's French press with a little whole milk/half and half and/or some…
  • I remember a year when I was single my friends and I went and got dessert then went to see "He's Just Not That Into You". Or drawing a hot bath, renting a favorite movie and drinking some red wine... Valentine's day doesn't always mean being in a relationship. My mom's birthday was Valentine's day as well. We always did…
  • Super fun! I actually wanted to look at the area where we're going and get an idea of if there are any wineries around our B&B
  • So it's not broken. Doc says no running for 4-6 weeks...(not sure that's gonna happen). They gave me an air cast and crutches. The swelling is pretty much gone today...just a little bit. Not really painful or stiff. The crutches seem like overkill to me...plus I have a hard time trusting the doctors at those patient…
  • This happened less than a half a mile from my house...I tried hobbling for about a block and a half...it hurt worse than running because with running I'm using the front part of my foot more. I did end up jogging the remaining distance because it was easier than walking.
  • I don't get sick leave at work. And I'm seated a lot of the day doing education. It's painful walking back and forth to get charts, etc, but I do get to sit for part of the day. Tomorrow I have the first half of the day free and only one education in the afternoon...and an eye appointment. But I'll be able to get the ankle…
  • Touche. Especially given that I'm a distance runner...ignoring it doesn't make it heal more quickly...and if it heals incorrectly then I REALLY will have problems with running. I'm going in tomorrow morning since the first half of my day is open. Thanks for the advice, all.
  • Rats :( It was feeling better yesterday, so I wrapped it really good and took my dogs for a walk. It was a bit sore after but not bad. I wrapped it overnight and this morning it hurts a lot...this is probably the worst it has felt since the day I injured it. Plan is to go to Patient First tomorrow morning. :( Fortunately I…
  • http://justins.com/product/chocolate-hazelnut-butter/ Since I discovered this, I have zero desire to eat Nutella. This has better texture, better flavor and less than half the sugar. 1 less gram of fat. Individual packet is perfect for that chocolate craving/sweet tooth... Or for a recovery snack. Nom nom nom nom.
  • Mmmmm...I like where this is going.
  • I have found it a few places-Harris Teeter, Mom's Organic Market... I'd bet that Whole Foods has it...maybe Giant. I'd look in the organic section. I got it in the single-serve pouches-perfect for dessert or a recovery snack.
  • Tonight it's an amazing barleywine (one of my favorite beers). NOM...and well-earned, I might add.
  • Try Justin's Natural chocolate hazelnut spread. It tastes way better than nutella and for 60% less sugar! NOM
  • 30 day ab challenge from Blogilates.com 7.6 mile run (one of my best paces to date) Pole dance class...upper level. Tuckered out.
  • No...my husband is very supportive. I fully admit that, not necessarily intentionally, I sabotage him. I love to bake and I know the things he loves as treats...he had to ask me over the holidays to scale back because he didn't want the temptation of all the sweets in the house. :( Sometimes it's not on purpose. I know he…
