  • LOL you are fast to judge me. And it appears you are to lazy to read my previous posts. I was a former smoker, I have dealt with addiction in my family with meth and alcohol. If you smoke and you justify it your are using junky logic. If you knowingly harm yourself and dont take steps to stop because you are using said…
  • LMFAO. The way you justify your addiction with "We know its dangerous" is for lack of another word stupid. Would you play Russian Roulette? Doubtful because you know how stupid you would be to do that.
  • Well I am not trying to be an *kitten* here. All I am saying is that yeah maybe you can run further, faster, blah blah but when your are no longer young and your boy is no longer resilient your body will start to show the effects. Yeah it is a physical addition but its more of a mental addiction. If you cant go 72 hours…
  • Man that's a tough call. I wouldn't do the run and risk a more sever injury putting my training out two weeks or more. Good luck!
  • If I can do it anyone can. Its a mind game. Simple as that. If you prepare yourself physically and mentally. Have a plan on how you will deal with your cravings, stressful situations and smoking queues then you will succeed. If you go in with no preparation, plan or fore thought then you will fail. Its that simple. Aggreed…
  • I am not a big fan of cutting back or replacements. When I tried before I always failed until I just stopped smoking and gave up nicotine all together. Replacements, gum and cutting back just keep you in a withdraw state for a longer period of time, if you just stop smoking nicotine is out of your system in 72 hours. Then…
  • You are comparing apples to oranges. There is more to outrunning someone than their ability to breath and process oxygen. Smoking ages you, give you gum disease, heart problems, circulation problems and a slew of other issues. This is not directed at you but all the smokers. Don think that because you can run a few miles…
  • Yeah same here. I used to think smoking didnt effect me or my ability to run, fight ect. Then I stopped smoking for about 6 months and was amazed at what a difference it made. Downside was I started smoking again for a few months before quitting again for good If you think that you are negating the effects of smoking by…
  • I looked at the Garmin watches and ended up getting a Nike+ as I used the app on my phone for so long and the only real data I was worried about were spilts/pace/distance.
  • Yeah you need a rest day ever so often. I am training for a half and I still take two days off a week.
  • Yes it does work. Stick with it.
  • I cant see how you wouldn't get results if you are following the diet and pushing yourself in the workouts. You get out what you put into it.
  • This will sound crazy and I have not tried either but guys seem to think that running while wearing a snorkel/dust mask ect that limits the amount of air they can breath in while training improves their lung capacity.
  • Good luck with your knee. I get runners knee sometimes and I know how much it sucks to get your training sidelined.
  • Sounds like runners knee. But I am no Dr and if the pain is excruciating then you are running the risk of permanent injury. Two kinds of pain exist when training. 1. Dull pain that is safe to push through 2. Sharp pain that indicates injury and all physical activity should cease. After you see a Dr try going to a sport…
  • Have you seen a Dr? Where is the pain in your knee located. I think any knee pain that has lasted over a week and is still painful enough for you to have concern should be checked by a Dr.
  • Good questions. OK I have used and Iphone/Andriod/Nike+ watch I prefer the Iphone GPS over the Android. But I did find that when I went into the settings of my Android and turned on the "Use Wireless networks" I did get a better location. I now run with a Nike+ watch and really enjoy having my pace/distance info at the…
  • You can do p90x 2 or just take a short break and do it again.
  • I use Everlast 5lbs gloves when I shadow box, I also use them sometimes when I run or when I am trying to increase weight when working on arms and cant make that 5 lb jump to a higher weight.
  • Before getting the GPS watch I used to just put mine in my front pocket. I bet an arm band would probably be better.
  • If fitness is your first concern and fighting is second then by all means go for it. Training to fight is a tough workout but it is a very fun activity. Of all the things I do, I love going to our club the most. I love the amount of pushup, situps, leg lifts, rocking chairs, crunches jumping jacks we do, then 30+ minutes…
  • I belong to a boxing club. Nothing fancy as that, not really a place you go to get into shape but a place you go to learn how to box and get trained to fight and then jump in a ring a try out what you learn. You need to figure out what you want to get out of the training and ask the trainers what you can expect to get. If…
  • I am curious as well as to what negative effects wearing your running shoes would pose.
  • I usually just wear my new shoes around the house, out on the town for a week or so before switching out to run in.
  • Could be the case, what did you end up getting?
  • - Do you wear compression socks? Nope - How many "official" races have you participated in? few 5ks, 10k, 1/2 marathon, warrior dash - What's your average pace for an "easy" run? 9:30 - Do you run in the AM or PM? PM except when I have a lot of miles to run. - What's your deal? Married? Kids? Job? Favorite cereal? Yes, 4…
  • Struggling as they hurt your feet?
  • Maybe I was mistaken. I entered walking at 3.0 and for my weight it was 187 calories. I went into my settings and changed my weight to 300 and the calories burned for the same exercise was over 350. So I guess it is possible that those measurements are correct. Sorry to muddy the waters with my earlier post
  • I would not believe those numbers. I burn 450 calories running 8 minute miles for the miles.
