You might try getting an app for your phone, I prefer Run keeper on my adriod but I really loved Nike+ on my old iphone. Set it to alert you of your pace and average pace every 1/4 so you can get an idea of how fast you are going and get a feel for your splits. I don't understand your logic here. You are saying that if I…

Train at the pace you intend to run at, and three days before your race load up on cards so you will have the energy you need to run. I would say if you can do a 10 mile run the week before then you are ready to run. good luck, I got one coming up Oct 27

Well jump rope may work for some, I do it so often that it does little for me now except keep my footwork and rhythm up to speed. Plus I logged a 3 minute jump rope session on here one time and only got 37 calories for it. It is good workout for your calves and front of shines when you first start.

My absolute favorite cardio is to jump in a ring and spar for a few rounds. Its like a mini vacation, for 3 minutes at a time the only thing on my mind is not getting beat on. I jump rope for 3 minutes at a time, HR does not get very high.

You will probably out grow these pretty quickly depending on what your goals are. You might consider some of these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-25-lb.-Adjustable-Weight-Speed-Pack/12441626 They make a more expensive set http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bowflex-SelectTech-552-Dumbbells/14660327

Runners knee sucks. Get an IT Band brace. It will help a lot. Anytime I have to run long distance or hills I wear one on my left leg. If your knee is still hurting you need to RICE and Ibuprofen to help with swelling.

I bet you 100 dollars you get 5 people telling you to buy shoes ;) How long you been running, you running outside or treadmill, flat or hills?

I got a boxing fracture in my wrist a few years back and when I do pushup I have a similar issue. I do my pushup on my knuckles but you could use barbells or pushup bars if the palms flat is too tweaky on your wrist.

Nice work! Keep it up. @melissa when is your 1/2? I got a 1/2 Oct 27th.

Ha we all should dress up like Forrest and go running one day! Hell my next 5 or 10 K I am wearing this! http://www.stockphototalk.com/phototalk/images/forrestrunningtojonathan.jpg

Thats not a good thing. Check your heart rate and make sure you are not pushing too hard. I know when I run or spar my way to a 85-90% work heart rate I get the same way. Just some info I found Hydration Lack of and too much hydration may increase the chances of feeling nauseous during or after exercise. The body produces…

I use Excel to create spreed sheets for workouts, shoulder & arms, chest &back ect that each column has a weight and rep field. I then printed them off and record my workouts, so I know how much weight and reps I did the previous workout. If you have an email would be more than happy to send the spread sheet to you.

5.5 is a 10:30 ish pace. Which to be honest is a pretty fast pace for a new runner. In fact my long distance comfort pace (pace I can run indefinitely) for distances 13.1 + miles, is a 10:00 minute mile. Part of the running game is adjusting your pace when your feel you are hitting that wall. Also what is your diet before…

Why not try it? Just dont try to take off at a break neck speed, maintain a good pace that is right for your fitness level and give it a go. Nothing is as thrilling as your very first 5k and you will feel proud of yourself for finishing!

I am down. Will be training for a 1/2 so should get at least that many miles in. DO I need to join a group? How will everyone track miles?
-
Running is a mental game as well as physical, I know when my runs get hard my mind starts telling me "You cant do this", "you have ran far enough" ect ect ect. How high is your heart rate getting?
-
Do you mean over striding? Focus on landing mid-sole, with your foot directly underneath your body, try to keep your steps light and quick, as if you're stepping on hot coals.

Its an app for your phone. It helps new runners get in shape to run 3.2 miles. Do you have a watch with a timer? If so go here and you can get the basic idea and plan your own runs. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Also while everyone will tell you to go buy 120 shoes when you start to run. LOL I still run…

Yup! ^^ Is it a sharp pain or a dull pain, how long have you been running? If I run sloppy outside on hills I get terrible IT band pain at the 5+ mile mark. If I run sloppy on the treadmill I get pain in my right toe. While yes you can get fitted for high dollar shoes, your basic running shoe is more than enough for…

I think you are too focused on the speed that you are running at. You should be more concerned at accomplishing the distance that you want to reach, then after time and fitness levels improve then work on your speed. Also do you know your pace? I would suggest Nike+ or Runkeeper to announce your pace every 1/4 mile until…

Not really getting a lot of burned calories when I logged jumping rope yesterday. For a 3 minute session I only got 37 back

The race you are planing to run should have a training schedule. if not you can use the link below for beginner running training for a 1/2. I will admin you are cutting the training close. However if you can run 10 miles now then adding 3 more miles over 8 weeks is not that hard of a task. In fact if you can knock out a 10…

Heck yes you do! LOL. I have run a few races and of everything I have ever ran the warrior dash was my favorite run ever!
