  • Had to catch up reading this morning. This group is so inspiring! Thank you ladies! I’m finally feeling myself after surgery 4 weeks ago. My cyst had a surprise tumor on it! Both non cancerous. I have changed up the foods I eat. I have eaten low fat for couple reasons. Added nuts back into my life instead of so sparingly.…
  • I keep reading about journaling, but have never really tried it like you suggest. I kept a running journal for a couple months. It was helpful thinking back on it, maybe I should give it a try! I’ll have to look into a journal app, can’t read my own writing half the time 😂
  • /workinonit1956 it was meant for everyone 😁 I too love being “inefficient” while doing housework. I’m a Fitbit lover too. Water is a must for me. Logging too. I log EVERYTHING! What I can add to the suggestions so far is outside time. I’m lucky enough to have a dog to help me get this in.
  • What healthy habits are you doing/working on?
  • After coming here to follow all of you I thought I’d better actually say hi. I’m 55. Only 5’2”. Being short has advantages until it comes to calories 😂. I had been down to 125 and felt better than I have for years! Had gallbladder surgery 2 years ago and some heart issues. Started gaining. Got up to 155 following the eat…
  • I'm wondering the same thing

  • I started last year at 51. Bad knees and bad heart. It hurt a lot when I started. I read up on form and found Chi running. That made a world of difference for me!! So, make sure you have correct form and the C25K (any of them or your own) works great. This is the first time I've ever set a goal that I didn't know ahead of…
  • Very new group! I am working harder now to get healthy than I ever have. Trying not to do the "I wish I had". In some ways I'm doing things I never would have done at a younger age, just because I'm tired of being told I shouldn't try things because of my health. I eat 90% clean, swing kettlebells, walk and run when I can.…

  • You can NOT out exercise a bad diet. I love the kettlebell swing! I have neck issues, but done correctly it actually helps those neck issue as well as giving me strength and a great low impact cardio workout.
  • I started my turtle trot the first part of June. Promptly gained 5 pounds. I decided to not let this bother me. I like the feel of running. I was told not run years ago after a Brocken neck, cracked head and broken leg. Found out it's all about form, so at 51 I'm learning to run. I can't believe how my body is changing.…
  • I'm from Southern Illinois, south of Effingham.
  • My app asked if I wanted to post to MFP, and it shows how many calories burned for walking/jogging. Is this not very accurate? I also wear a fitbit so wondered if I should just let the fitbit pick it up.
  • I'm new to the group too. I also got started with Tracy Reifkind. I also have neck/shoulder problems. Broke my neck 33 years ago. At the time they told me to never lift weights or do anything that really used my shoulders/neck except swimming. I've not been close to an indoor pool so that was out. 30 years later I find out…
  • I was doing both, mostly calories. My son in law left a box of Ritz crackers here and you can have 5 for only 80 calories! I happened to up my calories about the same time so started having them on the side and have noticed my carbs have gone way up (not just from the crackers but they don't help). My oatmeal is…
  • I'd like to know the same thing. I know more muscle means higher metabolism, and I'd sure like to have more energy. I do have to be careful because of breaking my neck many years ago.
  • The day I cook such a big meal I don't feel like eating much, so this year I just made sure we didn't have much leftovers! worked great. I didn't go over my calories Sunday when we had our Thanksgiving. Today for just my husband and me I fixed a nice chuck roast packed with carrots, onions and celery. I'm a pumpkin pie…
  • I use 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1 apple, cinnamon, 2 equal pcks. Cook in microwave for 3 min, 30 seconds. Add 1/4 cup non fat greek yogurt. So very yummy. Desert for breakfast!
  • This is the big one for me! I just gave this advise to my 25 year old daughter who is trying to loose weight. She cant believe the difference at 25 compared to teens. I told her its soooo much harder in your 40's, so just keep it off now!
