  • Hi everybody! I'm Emily from Seattle. My husband and I started NS on Saturday. I'm hoping to lose 50lbs and he's shooting for 60. I did the program a few years ago without much success, but I wasn't very dedicated at the time. I'm hoping I can do a better job sticking to it  Please feel free to friend me! And I'd…
  • Maybe your friends would be open to taking a healthier approach to food for the vacation? If they're not looking to lose weight themselves, maybe they could do it in support of you. If that fails, maybe you could compromise by offering to cook a meal a day for everybody, or bring lots of healthy snacks to share.
  • Eat the damn soup. A treat once a month is absolutely reasonable. Just plan ahead! Trying to lose weight as fast as possible is a recipe for failure. Focus on improving your life every day, instead, and a slow steady maintainable weight loss will happen.
  • I would check with your doctor to rule out any of the medical explanations, but I know I crash pretty hard after a strenuous workout if I don't eat a ton before and afterwards. I keep a bag of beef jerky (I refuse to care about sodium) in the car, and chow down on that the second my butt gets out of the gym. That tends to…
  • You look terrific!! And I love your hair. Envious :)
  • During the week I *live* on turkey sandwiches. Arnold's 100% whole wheat sandwich thins, deli turkey, miracle whip, mustard and some green pepper strips or whatever veggies I have lying around makes a great meal. The sandwich thins come 8 in a bag for $3.50 (in MD), turkey is a half pound for 4.50 (way less if it's on…
  • One thing that's helped me (I have really really low impulse control when it comes to driving past a fast food place) is to remind myself that I have never once regretted *not* stopping for something to eat. I keep foods in the house that I love to eat and that are good and filling - I love the sandwich thins bread with…
  • I ate a lot of mashed potatoes. The next day I went with overcooked pasta and spaghetti sauce, stove top stuffing, and lots and lots of jell-o. I am a total pain wimp, too! Mostly I slept and felt bad for myself for a few days :) I was back at work on Monday after a Friday surgery, though, so it couldn't have been that bad.
  • I second the FT4. I got mine on Amazon for around $70. User-replaceable battery, basic easy to learn setup. It's pink so my husband won't steal it. I figure I didn't need the super expensive GPS tracker model because it's just going to show me sitting in the dang gym :) And I can upload the results by myself. I only got it…
  • Please keep us updated, Stef! I'm almost exactly in your position and I'm very curious to see how things go for you. Emily
  • Don't waste your youth on a guy who doesn't make your heart sing. It is nowhere near as difficult to find somebody who makes you ecstatically happy as you think it is - just get out there and find somebody new. I spent five years (in my mid-twenties) in a relationship that was terrible for me. I wasn't unhappy - that's…
  • Oh man, I used to get thrown off of rides all the time there for not fitting in seats. I'm sure you were super nice about it - it's humiliating, but I definitely get why it's got to be done - but there are some ride operators who were downright %&@!ers about it and would go out of their way to make you feel horrible. Then,…
  • This thread is making me outrageously hungry. I love the taste of blatant bigotry.
