If I'm lifting I am just thinking about the lifting; mainly so I don't hurt something! If I'm running I can let my mind wander and think about EVERYTHING - sometimes work, sometimes not. But I definitely have all my best ideas while running.

I'm a school teacher and it makes ME mad that this sort of thing isn't taught by parents at home...
-
Didn't you read the bit about toxins though?

In this kind of conversation it's not for anyone to have to explain a cry of bull, it's for the "new information" to prove why it's true. You can't prove that the pebble in my back garden isn't what keeps the tigers away at night. But wouldn't you expect me to back up such a claim before accepting it as true?

Yes, this is a familiar post finale here :p

It's always after 6pm unless it is exactly 6pm... And when would I get to eat these?
-
Brilliant, good luck!

I just finished a rainy Scottish run (brrr) but the best bit is getting home, showered and into warm dry clothes. When training for a race I daren't shirk rainy runs because it may well rain on race day, and I don't want that to be an unfamiliar factor.
-
Work up to 11 miles for your long runs then worry about speed if you want to. 11 miles will carry you to the end on race day, and you won't really care about your speed if it's your first one. Good luck!

My favourite version of that is "What the fire does not destroy, it hardens".

This is the answer.

I have been watching two or three YouTube workouts a day for the past few weeks and haven't lost any weight yet. I think they're a scam.

When I want to excite my abdomen muscles I take them for ice cream. Yay ice cream!

No pills? No quick fix diet scheme? No raspberry juice and stomach wraps? Just a goal and some sensible planning? Welcome!
-
Set a goal, do a race! A target of 5K is ideal, and there are lots of casual 5K races - don't take fright at the thought of an event like this, you will be surrounded by like-minded people who once made the same decision you made and stuck to it!

The sight of me cack-handedly trying to put my weight plates back after deadlifting, with my useless arms and wobbly legs must be entertaining for some!

There are some people at my gym who might <claim> to be there for 3 hours also, but if you took away the time they spent chatting, drifting, looking at themselves or staring at their phones, they are actually doing about 15 minutes of exercise...! You're not one of..."them"...are you?

Getting up from a nap and going for a run in the rain and wind...

I trained pretty hard (for me) from August 2012 to October 2013, my 40th birthday. By the end I was at the gym 3 times a week to strength train, and running 3 nights a week training for a half marathon. Then went to New York for a week, ate and drank what I liked. Came home and didn't get back into my groove at all - the…

Brilliant, what a great feeling! I love the half marathon distance, the training is manageable and the challenge is impressive. Welcome to the 13.1 family!
-
I tried it, but found it unapeeling.

I love dark, cold running! Scottish winters give me plenty of that and I am tougher come next spring :-)
-
Can you share the good things you've heard? Were they online or from speaking to people?
-
Looks brilliant, but it only really covers one of the four countries in the UK! I'm just off to squirt paint on myself then run around my garden...
-
I've paid up to £40 for a marathon, £25-30 is usual for a half. I drew the line at £50 for a Spartan race though, way too much.

Dietician - people will be more likely to take you seriously doing something registered and regulated.
-
Brilliant! 3 miles is a "proper" distance...5K race next??

Last Sunday I took part in an 8 mile race in the cold and rain of Edinburgh (32nd out of 800). Then came home an inhaled an entire Cadbury's easter egg and the mini eggs inside it. And I'd do it all again, too...
-
Ha, yes, that can happen :-)

Leisurely weights session at about 2 :-)
