  • From what I've learnt around here, I think you'll be eating at too much of a deficit if you do it regularly and so your body might turn to 'starvation mode'? I'd say always hit that 1200 mark at least, even if it means you only eat back some of the 300 cals burned and not all of them.
  • I've recently become pretty addicted to instagram! http://instagram.com/elasticbandy Find that it's a good motivator looking at everyone else's exercise stuff!
  • Congratulations! I got engaged in July but we are probably aiming for 2014 too. At the moment the money isn't there plus we're both super busy but at least it gives the time to slim up and trim up! I've got about 14lbs to go too until I reach my ultimate goal weight. I'm floundering a little bit at the moment but I'm sure…
  • My CW is 162lbs and at the moment, my CUGW is 154lbs. My UGW has been changing though when I reach it and then decide actually, I'm still not where I'd like to be haha. So, my secret UGW is 147lbs but I'm quite broad shouldered and far from petite so we'll see how that goes. Having started a couple of years ago around…
  • Love, LOVE peanut butter and apple! I can only have peanut butter on very rare occasions - other half is allergic to nuts. I make sure it's worth it when I have it just to make up for the lack of opportunity I get to eat it
  • I think that to a certain stage, you would lose the weight. But, when reaching the 'final stages', you'd probably plateau because of the fat, salt, sugar and carbs content etc. Don't see why the weight wouldn't come off to start with though. Might just be a slower process?
  • Hey! It's nice to have a fresh start every now and then. Boo to those that grumbled at you. Weight loss is for personal reasons, not so that everyone else can congratulate them. Don't get me wrong, support is excellent and it's nice to be told you're doing well etc but at the end of the day, it shouldn't matter about…
  • Hello! I'm not a Mum but I am from the UK  you'll definitely get a good support system here. And, while I can't contribute too much on the child front (I am a teacher but technically, they're only mine for half the week haha), I can contribute with grumbling about the British weather!
  • Thanks very much  I'm on the last bit of my weight loss now (hopefully). It's coming off slowly but surely. I live with my parents at the moment and my Mum is AWFUL with food. She's always suggesting that I eat some cake or something because she 'bought it for Dad' and he won't eat it all and she doesn't want to see…
  • Hello! Welcome to MFP! Certainly is a good and handy way to get started. I'm in the UK too. Lots of lovely, motivational and helpful people here to make the journey easier
  • I always notice my collar bone first, particularly when I'm washing in the shower. Despite clothes becoming looser and people telling me though, I never really see or feel it elsewhere!
  • I've got a few of my friends involved with it too (they were intrigued by why I kept scanning food items on my phone ha. I sucked them in!) and it's really created a talking point between us all! Surprisingly, we've been having exercise competitions to see who can do the most exercise etc and it's really spurring me on so…
  • I found this too ^^ If you're still hungry twenty minutes/half hour after your drink then you really ARE hungry! Other than that, I'll snack on fruit (typical.. I know!) or I'll have a mocha that I make myself (or a sachet - works out about 88 calories) which curbs my appetite a bit more than just water. I also snack on…
  • 1) Pee 2) Take my clothes off 3) Weigh myself :embarassed:
  • Welcome! I've used many apps/forums and tools to try and lose weight but I've found MFP has hit the nail on the head :) I'm sure you'll meet lots of people to share your journey with that are experiencing the same thing as you :)
  • I used to have a BlackBerry which I chose for my upgrade. I do really like them! I was just very disappointed when the charging port broke so easily on mine so have decided to try another one for a bit. Depending how this handset goes (Sony Xperia), I'll see whether I go back or not! I very nearly got the Torch though.
  • Haha excellent! That sounds like a great motivator! I'm not sure I could manage reading on the treadmill. I tend to watch TV while I'm on it - programmes that last around an hour. The time flies which is handy. Certainly given me some food for thought on what I can use as a 'treat' though, and hopefully given some others a…
  • Thinking about it, a glass of wine is a very nice treat now and again. You have the beer and I'll have the wine
  • That's a shame although, a massage isn't too much of a bad consolation
  • How long do body wraps last for? I've heard people praise them before but never given it a go myself. I REALLY hope I can sustain this mentality one day.
  • I'm hoping to do the same. It's so hard to get out of my head that sweet things are the 'treats' I should have. I might start up my own biscuit barrel though! That's an excellent idea!
  • Awesome! I'm liking the sound of the manicures and pedicures :glasses: I might have to get in on those for the bigger 'treats'. this!
  • First of all, congratulations on losing those 20lbs! I'd deal with this by using it as a fresh source of motivation. You can see how far you've come, which is good, but I'd personally feel like I couldn't stop there and the photo would be a reminder of the journey you are on. Don't undo all the hard work you've already…
  • I can't keep up with this board :indifferent: @invictus8: 8 - can't beat a bit of chest hair!
  • Keep it up, you'll get there
  • Hello, I'm 5ft 8 and I'm aiming for 154lbs/70kg or so for the time being. Being tall, I'm also fairly broad shouldered so I don't want to go too far! Although I imagine I'll want to go further once I reach it (in my head I'm secretly considering 147lbs/66.5kg)
  • I get this a lot, especially 'don't you think you've done enough?' comments as though it's a temporary thing and you're just going to go back and switch everything off. My mum is the worst for it and I personally think it's jealousy too. She wants to lose weight but doesn't want to change anything and blames my Dad for it…
