  • Because that's what motivates me, because that what gives me an indication of success, because I know from experience what the numbers mean in relation to my skinny jeans. I'm not using other peoples goals to base my own on, therefore my goal is healthy, fit and happy :/ imo.
  • I'm 5'3" currently 130, I'm happy at 124. Lowest I've been is 119 and that wasn't maintainable.
  • That;s exactly what I did, I said that was it and it was. I'd like to be vegan but think it would be too restricting, I'm not a fan of the diary industry, but as a wheat intolerant veggie I also want to have a life and enjoy food socially. Good luck with your vegan transition.

  • I'm veggie, have been for four years, now I'm better at using alternatives think it might aid my weight loss, but initially I put on weight as found I was eating a lot of cheese, especially eating out. Edited to add I eat locally sourced free range eggs (only satisfied if I can see happy hens!) and also locally sourced…

  • That was a good read, thanks BugYin
  • Thank you, very helpful :)
  • As in, it does take my HR into account in calculating calories burnt? Sorry if I'm being dumb.
  • I do have some vague understanding of cycling and spinning (a little, not alot) so it does make sense.
  • Oh my god Mark, what a response,,, Let me take a min to read. I use a Garmin forerunner 110, with a HRM, only entry level model, but had it nearly 2 years and suits me :) EDITED to say, read the reply, thank you, interesting figures :)
  • Really annoys me that I've been a veggie for four years and never once been tempted, yet I can't feel that way about chocolate and ice cream!!
  • I'm wheat intolerant. I'm also a veggie which is a choice, obviously, but makes me a pretty bad dinner guest!! I go through fits and spurts with my wheat intolerance. Sometimes I can have some cake or something and be OK, other times I eat a biscuit and am in agony!
  • As someone else said it's more of a reflection of her than you. Seriously don't lose sleep, what's the point, Just accept she told you you've lost weight and be pleased with that!

  • I've two very active dogs, so I do lots of walking, at least an hour a day at a brisk pace. I run with them too, but lately, I've gotten a bit fed up of running and am enjoying long walks more. When I'm taking them out for an hour+ a day (sometimes two hours, especially if BF is away and isn't doing one of their walks) I…
  • You are obviously very unfortunate, but, for the vast majority those who blame genetics only have their diet to blame!
  • This. Ever had a friend who's whole family are big people and they say "it's our genetics" then open their fridge and realize it most certainly isn't!
  • I'm in the same boat as you, its also where alot of my cals come from, not from the drinks themselves either, but from the binge eating that follows! I try and limit myself and only drink socially as much as I can - not of an evening with the bf!
  • Good advice!
  • Why not try a spilt week, I can't "maintain" I am generally either dieting or not, I am very much an all or nothing kind of person. So I generally count calories on a loss basis 3/4 days a week and just try to be sensible, but more relaxed the rest of the time. That split works for me maintaining.
  • I'm 5'3" and am 132lb at the minute. Been 125 for about four years and recently put on the 7lb - so mad at myself, although I know it could be worse I am usually very disciplined. Anyone else find that 7lb is getting on, or rather is a dress size when you are a bit shorter?
  • Deffo double check with a HR monitor, I am 5'3 and 57kg, so I know a bit smaller than you, but I only burn about 1200 cals when I do a half marathon!
  • Agree with some of the comments above, sometimes you have to back off to get further. Making a niggling injury worse is only going to hold you back in the long run. I really bad tendinitis in both my knees and had a few months doing very short runs, I then got some new trainers (from a proper running store) and have since…
  • I have heard this before? My understanding is it is an average across the week? Are you able to explain more, am interested?

  • I am so shocked by everyone saying its too cold! My boy would be bouncing off the walls, he is walked twice a day minimum, without exception, rain, wind, or shine! I guess it depends largely on the dog - I do have a large, working breed. Edited to say I'm in England so can only judge by English weather standards!
  • Sorry haven't read the thread so don't know it this has been said. I started with Maxitone Definity http://www.maxishop.com/maxitone/body-toning/definity-protein-plus as this is designed specifically for women and thought it would do the job, then my BF pointed out that it was really expensive and I swapped to Maximuscle…
  • I would definitely recommend going to a specialist running shop, having your gait analysed and going from there. You might be lucky and just be able to buy bog standard shoes, but you might have a gait that means you need some extra support (as do I). Editing to say, sorry, read running, but can see you won't be doing that…
  • I am actually wheat free, not by choice but because I have an intolerance. I don't find it makes any difference at all to my asthma. But have heard for lots of people it does, apparently dairy is a common trigger too!
  • I do, he's a malamaute x gsd so plenty of exercise for him. Love that between the dog and the horse I usually get a minimum of 2 hours exercise a day and I don't even really think about doing it. That's before I've ridden or taken the pooch for a run instead :)
  • I also have asthma and am a runner (up to half marathons). Start slowly and don't push yourself, I've found its helped my asthma. The cold air has always made my asthma worse and I find it helps if I wear a snood! My chest will be really tight beginning a winter run but by around 2k it will have settled.
  • They are really comfy, don't move around and they wick sweat away well.
