  • I'm ready to feel all your love people!
  • London boy, raised in Shropshire, Live/Work in North Wales. Been on MFP for a couple of years. Feel free to add!
  • Male Pattern Baldness
  • London boy, raised in the country, now in North Wales who is 29. Yep I qualify (JUST!).
  • I've had it for about 13 years. Purely cramps and pain. I found knowing what it was after it went undiagnosed for 2 years was a big help. I use buscopan when I know it's about to start. Can tell it's coming before it really kicks off. However recently I've got tired of managing it and though I really need to find a way to…
  • With you on that. Both half marathons I've got to the end of an immediately thought there is no way I could do that distance again right now. I have a slightly weird problem that I set some reasonably respectable PB's of 1:41 in the half last year and then a 44 minute 10km. I feel knowing my body that without really…
  • Back to the original point, I trained all winter 2013/14 for my first half, max temp I trained in was probably 9'c. On the day, Spring sprung and it was 24'c. People were flaking out all over the shop. I came in 5 minutes off my target and near fainted, then three months later did my second half in 16'c overcast temp and…
  • If I tried topless running in UK at this time of year, I'd very quickly become just a statistic.
  • Wow fair play. A friend of mine did an Ironman last year. I simply cannot comprehend such an activity!!!
  • Fair play to you mate. So you've done a few tri's then? I've got my first sprint tri in May. Any tips other than get around? I'm confident I'll complete it, it's just really being realistic between it being my first and setting myself targets.
  • Starting in the rain is horrible but once you get going it makes you feel a bit hardcore!
  • Yep my point entirely. I'm not saying don't train past 10km, but I feel that from experience the step from 0km to 5km is probably the hardest you'll ever do. 5km to 10km is easier, then 10km to 22km easier still. It's not easy, but easier! Physically if you can run a 10km with a decent level of performance (say 1hr or…
  • I trained up to about 11 miles before my first half and knew I could do that comfortably. Combined with the support and buzz of the day, you'll be fine. I'm confident anyone who can run a 10km can run a half marathon. To me it's 90% in the head from that point on.
  • As mentioned above, you need sufficient fuel to keep going. Personally I have a current daily target to net 2190cal per day. This should result in a 1.5lbs per week loss. With a bit of focus, I can do this reasonably comfortably when I'm not training. If I then go and stick a 10km run in, that'll put my daily net target up…
  • Hey All I'm a 28 year old Uk'er! Been on here a while and it's working so happy to share my support + wisdom. :)
  • I ran my first half marathon yesterday in a time of 1:51:37 Also getting drunkenly felt up (not too rude) my friends wife at a bbq a couple of weeks ago. She was like wow you're looking good, can I touch your chest/shoulders etc. Helps she's rather attractive! :)
  • Treadmill in the winter/bad weather just for exercise. Running outside is for the soul! (burns a few calories too)
  • Hi Mate I'd be honoured to have you as a friend on here and offer/give support. I've been on here for about 5 months now and have lost 39lbs so far. Started at 262, now down to 223lbs, the lightest I've ever been. I'm 6ft 5, and whilst always been reasonably sporty, that's almost always been inspite of my weight. Anyway,…
  • As mentioned above, I'd recommend hitting a pace you can maintain, however slow that seems. If one foot is always off the floor, you're running. Like anything, you'll naturally want to sprint off at the start. If you're in reasonable physical condition, your body will have a level at which is can keep going for probably an…
  • Hi All 39lbs down already (yep MFP actually works!!!) with a further 14-20lbs to go. Doing a lot of running with my first half marathon in 2 weeks. I log daily, so always looking to give/receive thumbs up! :)
in uk friends? Comment by Grumbers May 2014
  • Alright all! I'm always up for some new friend additions. I'm daily active and love dropping the thumbs up. Also, i'm kinda sexy. Honest! :)
  • Hey Guys Uk 20-something, over 100 days in and finding it works!!! Plenty of thumbs up and a little experience to offer to all. Get me added. :)
  • Thanks Jeff. Just research technique on all of these and all seems simple and relatively easily done. Nice one.
  • I'm doing some machine stuff currently, but my physical aim is to be "life fit", not particularly muscular. I run a bit, do a lot of cycling, it's all about being healthy and very mobile for me. Most of my resistance work currently comes through doing Metafit and such like. I really like the idea of simplistic exercises…
  • Cheers for that. In fairness to MFP I've only been doing this 5 weeks and 2 days and I've lost exactly a stone, so the MFP system does seem to be working, but I've notice the last 10 days or so it's slowing right up. Believe this is pretty standard. Also I'm finding the psychologically I'm using exercise now just as a way…
  • I struggle to believe that anyone who exercises reasonably regularly should be eating as low as 1200 calories a day. That's a very small amount of calories, even if you're a petite lady!
  • I'm in guys! UK! WHOOP! :)
  • Great explanation thanks. So I assume people using a Fitbit along with the MFP calories calculations have to set their activity level as Sedentary as the Fitbit will then factor in every movement you make (within reason, i'd be impressed if it counted the amount of time I spent picking my nose!)
